Simpletask Cloudless
A simple task list manager that strives to have just enough features to do GTD, but no more. Based on the todo.txt app so a todo.txt file (http://todotxt.com).
Sync your list the way you want or only keep it on your device.
Instead of including all kinds of cloud providers, the app will put your todo list on internal storage in ./data/nl.mpcjanssen.simpletask. You can the use external applications such as Foldersync or Bittorrent sync to sync to a large collection of cloud offerings or own machines.
If you use any cloud service to sync, the task list will be reloaded if the todo.txt file is updated in the background.
With the new sorting options it can also be used for MYN/1MTD. See the screenshots for an example of how to use it for MYN.

It is simple, very simple. If you organize your life around miscellaneous single step tasks, this is definitely the app for you! If you are managing several complex projects at home and at work, this is not the app for you. *Update* I changed my rating from a 3 to a 4 because the response is valid. The simplicity of the app allows for many different configurations that are completely up to the user.
I just love it. I have full contol on my todo file, with lots of personalization options or even by editing the raw text file. And still I can use the app really easily, smoothly, intuitively and fast. The tool never gets in the way. FOR ME THE BEST APP FOR IMPLEMENTING GTD IN THE WAY YOU WANT. Big thanks to the developer.
Really awesome app and KISS format with cross compatibility. One thing I would like to see implmented is when you have order priority groups, it would be nice to just drag and drop entries onto existing priority group's. It would also be nice to see a quick custom sort feature in the format.
The app is clean and intuitive to use. Integrates well with 3rd party synch tools. Perfect for anyone who is looking to manage their todo.txt on mobile. On top of that, it's opensource and ad-free! 5/5 Ps: Please update the screenshots to newer versions of android. Current screenshots don't do justice to what the app actually looks like.
Easy fast, supports simple to complex task mgt. Allows dynamic task associations mere hierarchy can't. Use alternate files for projects with unique context and project categories. Used over 3 years for simple to do's to complex commercial projects. Also use to log/access static info (ie specs). My main file has over 900 items. A miracle app! Dropbox ver on Nexus 5x. Weird bug. Turning on list filter in the widget overrides the list filter setting in the main program once you choose an item from within the widget. Also, any way we can get list dividers within the widget like we get in the main program? Awesome app, thanks!
Very flexible. Many features. Easy to use. Intuitive interface. Useful widget. My only complaint is that I cannot reduce the font size in the widget.
absolutely stunning app. Aesthetically - beautiful, clear, consise. Features - rich and powerful. Clear understanding and great incorporation of the ToDo.txt format. THIS is how apps should be made. If I pass this semester thanks to the app (and I'm close) I will donate to the author as this is real work done very well
I tried a whole lot of todo apps during the last few years and Simpletask is a clear winner for me. It is simple and powerful at the same time and actively maintained.
Asked for access to my media files and photos in order to store text information?? Android apps dont need storage permissions to store their own data. Misleading description of why it needs permissions, and permission request very overbroad.
The best todo app I've ever seen! They're is only one thing that I would like to improve. Can you please add an option to increase line height in app's widget?
Why is there a sync option when clicking on it does nothing? What does sync option suppose to do? I will increase rating as soon as you answer.

This is one of the best productivity applications I have used!
Good but would like single line of info for each task. Then i can open and read the rest as need be. NEEDS restrict to # of characters (left justify) 2020 update still my favorite widget on my main screen. but the widget still wraps. Would love a set # characters in the widget setting or someone point me to a script (for the widget) BEST ToDo+widget I ever found :) changing 4stars to 5stars for reliability :)
Since the last update, changing filters has been sluggish. Otherwise a fantastic app.

Looks promising, very lightweight and quick filtering. Description says there is provision to save filters on right navigation bar, but could not find any right navigation bar or way to save often used filters.
Incredible. Very polished workflow, very fast yet versatile. Fabulous way to handle tags. If you can do with one paragraph of text or task and want tag-related filtering there is nothing better.
Great todo.txt implementation. Perfect for what I needed, EXCEPT: Why the hell does it add an extra newline at the end of your todo.txt file? Any time you mark a task as complete or add a new one, it adds this extra line. I tried every setting and still it does this. I was using FolderSync to keep this up-to-date with my primary todo.txt on my shell at work, and this causes blank lines between every task added there (unless you manually remove them first). This was the only app I found that did what I wanted, except for this one issue, and it's a dealbreaker for me. The only way I've found to get around it is to write a script to detect and remove these blank lines and run it every time I know Simpletask has added them. Way too much hassle just to have my todo list on my phone. So unfortunate. This app was perfect, otherwise...
Great for GTD without having a data connection such as remote areas. Simple interface and with the right file management app, you can back up your data when you do have a data connection.
I was using "Automate" together with "Web alert" to create some automated tasks (automatically checks when bills are ready). This app does great job with automation apps! Thanks! It's the only app from dozen todo apps that really works the way I want! :)
Excellent program. Perfect task management and todo list app. By far the best todo.txt (GTD) app. Love the cloudless aspect. Extremely well thought out by its developer. Can be as simple or as complex is one needs it to be. Unbelievable program. A mainstay in both my personal and professional lives. Can not say enough..... just Thank you, Thank You Mark....! !!!!!
I use syncthing to keep my todo.txt synced across a ton of devices. This is by far the best, simplest todo I have ever used.
The app is great, it integrates reletively seamlessly with todo.txt and in parts does things better! It's nice that SimoleTask adds done date to done.txt when a task has been archived. My 2 gripes are that the "add UUID" option doesn't seem to work and the "auto archive" option overrides the "prompt for confirmation" option. This meant that on a few occasions I caught the tick box and had to go and recover an undone task. Nothing serious but it was an issue. Are there any plans for FTPS/SFTP integration?
