SimplyText: Free Texting - SMS

Loved it in the beginning, but several recurring issues are changing my mind. When I receive a text and Touch the notification, it brings me to the right thread but it does not bring me to the message that I just received so I end up having to scroll forever to find where this message is. I have contacted them about this they said they fixed it but I am still having the same issue even after uninstalling and reinstalling the app. The latest issue is that when I get a text it picks whatever sound it wants as a notification sound. I was previously able to choose one sound to be my notification sound if I received a text. Now it just randomly chooses something and it’s never what I have chosen. It appears I have to choose a sound for each and every contact and I just want one sound notification. I am hard of hearing and I need a certain sound so that I can hear that I have received a text. Yet it won’t let me use that sound for the app globally. I want one setting that lets me choose the sound for every text that comes through.. where did that go?

Started crashing about an hour after use, and I can only fix it by uninstalling and reinstalling the app... Until I starts crashing again an hour later. Also, in the brief period it did work, it did not have strong visual clues as to if you were looking at seen or unseen messages. I had to stop and read time stamps to tell. Honestly, I've tried a lot of texting apps, and this was hands down the worst experience I've ever had with one.

UPDATE: App crashes when you take a picture with it. If you want to send a picture you have to take the pic, then attach it. A notification badge that I can't clear. Clearly, simply text cannot keep up with Android OS updates. I've tried uninstalling and then reinstalling both (+mighty text), restarting from a cold or a warm boot, neither has helped. Reported both problems, their reply is they are aware. Huh. After 1 month from initial review, still no customer service or fix. AVOID!

App is OK. But needs the following to compete with other messenging apps 1) Needs ability to attach multiple pictures at one. Currently you can only send one pic a t a time. Very limiting. 2) has trouble sending pics at times. They get stuck in 'sending' mode & if you keep trying to resent, the recipient ends up getting multiple pics of same image. 3) You can't search within a specific person's archived text conversations! The only search function is all texts. Please fix all of these issues!

I've tried Textra, paid for Chomp, and several other SMS apps. Had this one for a single day and already love it far better. Super simple, voice to text easy to use, pic transfer easy…you just have to try it. I never rate/review apps…but this one deserves it. Kudos to the authors. Limited bells and whistles… but stable quality text messaging.

Very nice! Fast, variety of fonts, quick responses, lots of good features. Only issue for me - the time that the message came in or was sent out is not recorded next to the text boxes! This is the only texting program I've ever seen without a time record. Adding it would make Simply Text a 5-star application!

Two features I would like to see -- if I am viewing a page in a browser & want to share a link, ST would create a draft text containing the link & allow me to add additional comments (e.g., article title) to be added to the link message and allow me to send the message (default is that the message is automatically sent with only the link). Also, when cleaning up a message thread, would like the option to click on multiple messages and then "bulk" delete rather than having to delete messages one by one.

Sends and receives messages and pictures reliably. Recently however it does not give an audible tone when I receive a message. This was very problematic when my kids locked themselves out of the house and they couldn't reach me. Going to have to go back to the default message app.

Okay. I went back to old text app when I couldn't figure out I own to change the text sound for all texts. Using the phones notification sound was pretty useless since it could be anything. I was not going to set up notification sounds for every new conversation after I eventually found out that some had text me.

5 year user. Would like it to accept video, instead of video links. Sending photos to a lot of contacts slows it down. I liked it, but feel it is dated and needs upgrade to allow quick video texting.

Love the app, UNTIL pictures... but not only does it NOT do pictures, the pictures are STUCK - cannot copy, forward, nothing. After dozens of emails with their support they have NO fix for it. I don't have time for this, and if someone sends me a picture of an invoice I need to be able to deal with it. Going back to another text program. And by the way, continuing to waste the consumer's time asking if you want to continue with support when you aren't able to give a real answer is extremely poor customer service.

Pretty good & definitely simple. But has strange tendency to send again (to a person with an active thread) images previously sent. Whenever I send a new image to a different person inside another thread, it sends again an image sent to a different person. Which can be funny or dangerous!

This app was fine when working but kept closing down due to "an unexpected error"- the last time that happened immediately preceded my phone being unable to connect to the internet regardless of signal strengtg- which necessitated a factory reset when nothing else resolved the problem, with the headache that entails downloading all my apps again, etc. I blame Simply Text for that. In fact i tried downloading it again aftwr the reset and the phone began acting sluggishly. So then uninstalled

Fantastic Customer Service with paid subscription - worth every penny!!! This is an excellent app - interfaces beautifully with Windows when combined with the MightyText desktop app by the same company. I freely use the "Help" tab for each question and the Support Team works to resolve each issue ASAP. So helpful - SimplyText and MightyText have made my Windows PC a fully operational text/email work station. // I just updated to a 5G phone and got answers to all my set-up questions. Feeling very grateful for excellent technology and excellent support.

When I use the Simply Text app, I have to scroll manually to the bottom of the messages after every text. For some reason, it jumps back up several messages every time I get a new message. It very obnoxious and if there is no fix, I will quit using Simply Text.

Its very helpful and convenient! I HIGHLY RECOMEND THIS APP! You can use it as your messaging app and can send messages even without data! Though it doesnt have much feautures, whats interesting about it is it doesnt have advertisements on it that will pop out all of a sudden. Very simply yet very useful.

This was my favorite App when I first got it years back. Now it is unreliable and has issues with sending and receiving texts. Also images being sent fail to send as well. I have a Premium Account and I will be canceling soon and using an alternative.

Would be thee greatest texting app in the play store buuut this app is anything but SIMPLE. Why are there soooo many areas that have to have notifications sound turned on and ringtone adjusted! This is absurd and to think after adjusting and changing all the notifications areas the d#@& thing still refuses to do any ringtone other than the pop it came with! Uninstalled. Avoid!

I've been using this for at least a year, and it's been great. But, lately it crashes constantly and I can't even open the camera to take a picture without it crashing anymore. I've reported it several times with no results...

Have used and liked SimplyText a lot, for years. But since latest Android update (it seems): (1) it will no longer receive image attachments, and (2) no longer give message notifications. Will have to drop it unless some modifications are made. Has developer really abandoned the app, as I read in an earlier review?

Great Job on this app, not only does it delete old messages, you can send group messages individually. I also love the fact you can push a button on the text message and speak a text

I like the minimal set of features. Would like the ability to disable the voice text option. The mic icon is everywhere in your face and in the way.

This has been my messaging app of choice for several months but when I restored my messages to a new phone all the date stamps were wrong. Not a huge thing but annoying enough for me to find a new messaging app.

Still crashes when trying to "take a picture" to attach. And now will not default to recent pictures when wanting to attach a picture recently taken.

It does NOT work. I sent a message and it didn't send. Then a notification stayed at the top of my phone. for me to edit it and would not go away until I force stopped it. DO NOT INSTALL THIS APP. IT'S USELESS.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT AS A ONE OF THE PERFECT MESSAGING APPS . I'VE BEEN USING THIS APP ON / OFF SINCE YEAR 2014 / 2015(I FORGOT THE SPECIFIC YEAR). THANKS, I REALLY APPRECIATE.
