Very good app with lots of features. As with many similar apps, I've docked one star because it can't access Google photos, etc, so you have to download the media to your device to use in this app. I contacted the developers regarding the intrusive ads others have mentioned here. They point out that if you scroll to the end of the filters there is a shopping cart icon. Tap on this to remove ads, get more filters, or both.
Artistic app, am enjoying all the variations. Only objection is the now suddenly accompanying ad for the app that really detracts from the picture one might send to someone. The ad is of overwhelming size. Wasn't there previously. Gee! How about a small icon? The large ad defeats the intention of the user. Too bad that started happening as it ruins the experience for the sender and recipient. Was otherwise very pleased and used it often.
On the one hand, the filters do actually look exactly like the effects I want to produce. On the other, they seem to save down to tiny resolutions, which renders the image unusable for eg canvases. And yes, the ads are a real pain - but not as bad as some other reviews suggest, so perhaps they've toned them down?
Fine app. Does what it says. Ads are unobtrusive and for very legitimate products (like duckduckgo). The formats are on a slider, there must be dozens. Just like anything else, most are creepy but the amazing ones like paint and pencil2 keep this app on my phone. Works great with school pictures, too! Option to share link to your creation, or save to phone to share photo.
The BEST for what I do. I needed an app to convert bitmaps into vector-looking files for laser-etching onto wood. I tried many others, but nothing came close. I first use the Simple filter and then apply the Stylize switch to successive saves until I get what I'm looking for - sort of a monochrome cartoon-CAD effect. I haven't seen such capabilities in any other Android or desktop app. Loads of other, interesting filters, too, all intuitively presented. Very fast AND works on video! Stock S9+ under Oreo.
This app is so awesome. Loved it. Takes very less space but the results are really very good. Compared to other apps, this is so better in free version itself. Also appreciate the lesser Ad in comparison to other apps. Really wish that the developers work more with new features like swipe horizontal to change filters, swipe vertical to increase or decrease the effect, and some unique features like that because no other app, with such small size, is this good. Thank You.
This Sketch app is really great with the selection of artistic filters in the free version and each filter has adjustment controls to fine tune the effects. The ads are not overpowering and intrusive which I really appreciate thank you. Some filters are harder to adjust and a little lacking in adjustment choices but overall I am well pleased with the Sketch app. I plan on upgrading for more artistic filters and will be using this app for sometime thank you for the reasonable pricing. Great job!
This is a great app. It does beautiful work. It's free and easy. My only issue is that when I download new photos to my phone, that folder isn't connected to the app. I'm not sure if that is an issue with Samsung or the app. But if there were a way to easily download a picture to my phone and upload it into Sketch Camera that would be awesome.
Awful, awful ads. Every time you do something in this app, you have to close an ad. Sometimes they are video ads that you can't close and have to sit through. And some of the ads use deceptive close buttons that don't close the app, but rather take you to their website. Amusing app, but *so* not worth it because of the obnoxious ads.
I like this app for the different types of sketch/paint/toon types it has. There's a little bit of adjustment you can fine tune. Some are similar depending on the type & what your picture is of. I haven't done selfies or people but objects, flowers, & my dog come out how I expected.
Pretty cool little app. However, there is one serious flaw that keeps it from being usable on a Samsung Galaxy S9+. It uses full screen and there is no access to the "soft buttons" except for the long press on the home button. I need to force stop the app to change screens.
I really like this app one of the few android apps I've paid for. one improvement I'd like to see is the saved file name should use the original filename with a date time stamp appended. it would make it much easier to match the sketched image with the original. Other android apps that edit photos do this. Otherwise app is great,
Can't save to SD card; in Settings, top listed option is media folder but this option can't be selected. It shows as saving to a folder "sketch_photo" on the SD card (can't see full path), but in fact photos save to a folder "sketch_camera" in main storage. Basic mistakes like this suggest there are plenty more mistakes deep in the coding. Also, shutter button is badly placed - and not much variety in the effects to choose from. And intrusive ads!
Loaded this app. Seemed to work okay, but very slow to load and run. So I decided to uninstall it. It didn't uninstall correctly and corrupted my phone's internal memory to the extent that other apps no longer work. It looks like I'll have to do a factory reset and start again. Not best pleased with this app.
seemed to be a good thing but was unable to finish any photo I had because of the ads by Google that ran across the top. when asked why I didnt wish to see the ad, I told them it covered content and they( Google) said it would be removed only to put the same one there 3 seconds later. get it together Google.
I paid the extra 1.99 to (hopefully) get rid of the ads and provide more filters. IT DIDNT GET RID IF THE ADS which appear every time you push a button.
I have to continually force stop this app and yet it keeps restarting itself, using memory resources even though background data usage is turned off via the app. Out of hundreds of installed apps, this is the only one that misbehaves in this manner. Sketch Camera seems to be sketchy in more ways than one.
Click that "stylize" box for groovy graphics! This is a shortcut for getting a novel aesthetic for web content. I adore the "cartoon" styles and "painting" for color, and "simple" for a clean b&w rendering without grayscale. Tried a few other apps and this one is the winner.
You can't see the image you're working on if in portrait style because ads cover it. Ads and more ads in almost every time you tap anything. Ads in general is a fair deal but the amount of ads in this app is just too much. There are many apps better than this.
Sorry for the one-star, but your data collection policy which included collecting my email addresses seemed overly intrusive. I didn't stick around long enough to really get a feel for the value of your app. You really should be less invasive.
The "Painting" filter only saves to (approx) 4 Fps. (4 FPS is impossible to edit!.) Additionally, I had trouble saving videos longer than 5 minutes - but perhaps this is a file-size limitation. Besides the Adverts...I think it's a good App.
The thing is great that has multiple options for filters it's very simple to understand I love it I've been using it a lot you can take pictures from the apps and videos or you can take pictures that have already have taken and put them through filters I haven't tried taking videos and putting them to filters yet but I'm sure you can and the apps free so nothing better than a very good free app
Simple. Fun. A wide variety of filters to turn photos into pencil sketches or to appear like paint. Great for quick generation of assets for use in other apps –ie backgrounds or character elements to use in a cel type animation app like Rough Animator. .jpg images generated in other apps can also be imported for processing in Sketch Camera.
It's great. Both fun and functional. I paid the few dollars for the upgraded version, so no ads here. I especially love the way it takes years off of your selfies if you're over forty. No complaints whatsoever.
works relatively well, to the point where I would like to buy it. I can live with ads, they don't bother me. what I cannot live with is the personally identifiable information that gets taken. my IP address and unique phone identifier? heck no. I would pay double the normal price if I could buy the app to have a data mining free experience. in fact, that should be a general app business model. You can either pay with your information, or with money. whoever offers that would make a killing
I tripped on it. The possible effects are very creative. I send photos to family and friends, it's fun to send them a twist. I'm 68, a novice, its fun to discover an app that is easy to use, so wonderfully different.
I just paid extra almost 3quid to get extra filters and remove ads...I want a refund pls ,doesn't worth the extra to spend on it.the you already have in the free version are almost the same as the ones you get after you paid the extra , absolutely pointless.most of the apps has a refund option, this one hasn't.i just hope I can get back my money
Everything works fine except the "Stylize" video function. If you try exporting a prerecorded video with the stylize option checked, it'll only export the audio. In the off chance that it does work, which is rare, your video will be very glitchy. And no, its not my phone. I have a Samsung S21 5G with 8GB RAM/128GB ROM. Plenty of power to handle video in both 1080 and 1440. Fix this problem with the stylize function and I'll be happy to pay you the $2.99. Hell, I'll pay you double if you want.
