The apps a meh you have limited options to do things, some models don't show up, the app does not let you download things, etc. There are a lot of things they could do to improve the app better yet give it some more attributes from the website and maybe return the ar button. I gave it four stars due to me still being able to look around and having a search and filter function.
No more AR? The button just completely vanished. Sketchfab seems to have a bizarre preference for IOS. Maybe it's the ease of programming for a select set of phones but other apps support AR on Android no problem. App is basically useless without all the features being readily accessible. Password protected models can't be viewed even with the password.
Generally nice and simple to use, and with my limited experience not very buggy. The AR mode is really great, being able to see my and others models by walking around them. The biggest issue I have with the app is that it doesn't cache the model and texture data, so if I'm using mobile data, trying to use the AR is constantly reloads the data if I jump between modes
Website has search. App doesn't. Kind of weird. Aside that, it does exactly what you want it to. You can insert models, rotate, scale, and move them. I wish you could tilt them, but its not a huge deal. Had some bugs, but going in settings and exiting fixes the issue easily. Great and fun app.
I'm rating as a 2d artist using the app for reference. For my use it's perfect. Tons of great models you can move around and use as a great reference to draw. You can group models you like in specific folders too! Only problem is the search system isn't specific (realistic dog doesn't bring up just realistic dog images) but it is free so I can't dock it for something minor like that. Def check it out if you are a 2d artist like me looking to improve your work.
The app does not work. It prompts to "move the device around to find a flat surface". It worked once, then it never worked again. Plus, I was never able to place the model in the image. The model collection is made mostly of gaming items and characters. The category selection doesn't work. I feel like this app is ok-ish for some quick fun, but nothing serious. That, if you can make it work.
Crashes every time I try to view my own profile. I don't typically like it when people use reviews to talk about bugs in apps, but I submitted feedback via the proper channels a month ago or more and it was never addressed or acknowledged. The app is completely useless to me until this is fixed. The website works fine, but it would be better to be able to use the app.
Sketchfab is a great website for sharing your 3D models to the world, but the website on mobile isn't the best experience you could get! The Android app has similar features like viewing 3D models and virtual reality, but it also adds augmented reality. 🚫While that works well for me, AR has an odd quirk where it will always use the initial VR model scale, even if I update it and wait months. This is annoying as it prevents me from displaying my models at accurate scale in AR… Please fix this!
I've been using the app for some years now but lately I've been having some issues with the AR viewing experience, basically regardless of the model I'm viewing in AR at some point all of a sudden my smartphone turns off completely. I'm currently using a Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, so I'm pretty sure its not the hardware.
Sketchfab itself is great but the app feels unpolished and requires more touches than what you'd expect for menu openings and whatnot. This makes performing basic tasks, interactions and viewing information a hassle, and as such the app (in my opinion at least) is not great to use.
Website is great but the app is pointless. You can do everything the app does and more by just using the site. Some of the app UI doesn't even fit on the screen, the AR feature said it wouldn't work on my phone and it hasn't been updated for well over a year. the app seems abandoned which is a shame.
sketchfab is amazing. i dont have a VR device with me, but last i checked viewing models with GearVR, wherever you position the camera, it places a big reticle on the surface of the model, totally breaking any immersion. Other than that its great. if this has been patched out I'll update once I get home and rate 5 stars!
Bit clunky app. Could be really useful with a feed based on the creators that the user follows, and not just "staff picks". Including notifications for when new models from followed creators are uploaded would be nice too 👍
Useless app. 1st: it doesn't show all models. Like if some models are too large, it just won't even show that they are there. 2nd: if you password protect a model, you literally can't access it at all. It just says "private, go back to previous page" with no option to input password. Why am I paying for this service?!
Viewing my animated 3d models with the background sounds i put in really is amazing and satisfying. Also a good way to showcase ur models to people. The shadows are a bot low res. and the lighting is a bit dim in AR and a few other customization features are missing but otherwise a great app!
I had a great experience with this app. It has a massive Catalog of 3D models made by creators and very passionate people, that are breath taking to look at. 👍 Edit: The VR and AR parts of the app are not the greatest, however, this is to be expected as they are relatively new phone functions.
The 3D Model catalog and viewing experience is great. Only thing stopping me from 5 stars is that the AR is very finicky with detecting and anchoring to flat surfaces. This is much worse even compared to the many other AR apps I've tried. I hope it will make better use of ARCore in future updates.
I have to give it a four because even though the app is great for models and artwork it has a pretty major bug which results in me needing to uninstall it and install it again due to the app not loading when I start to run it, it likely won't load until anyone has done this, can you please fix that problem?
There are no 3d models, only drawings. It tells me that I need to sign in, i try to sign in, it sends me back to the app. And then it makes me look at drawings. I think that the drawings are for Profile pictures, to I click on the Pac-Man themed one, since it's my favorite game. Instead that Pac-Man image was a DRAWING, not a pfp. And I don't get 3d models. Then, the game just crashes. This is terrible.
great overall app just wish for there to be a way to change the in app eye distance. When i use my Homido vr headset it hurts my eyes to use. Also the in VR menu is bugged for when you look up your liked models it just browses. if both are fixed it would become a 5 star ranking
I've always been using the website, so I was excited to be able to also use the app on my phone. However, it's lacking many key functions from the website and AR does not work properly. As much as I want to like this app, ite current build is too barebones to match the website.
Great app for finding and downloading various models. I can't though get it to rescale the models in AR mode, but I can use everything else normally, f.ex. the model inspector, wich I like. (I haven't been able to test VR mode.)
On two things. One fundamental search function is broken and does not give the same results as web page (much less). Second I like to check the model mesh but there is no way to do so and collapse popup bar as model reverse back to full render with textures.
Since this app appeared, issue is the same on my Note 3 : Any Sketchfab model loads normally in Chrome mobile browser. But none of the Sketchfab models loads in the app. There is an infinite loading animation and... nothing else. Meshes never appear. Third time I try to install that app since it was first released. Quiet amazeing to see that such a HUGE compatibility issue hasn't been fixed already ...
It's very great to show yours or other's 3d works and arts without pulling out your laptop. The weakness is my phone seems not being able to show a higher poly object smoothly compared when I do it on PC Browser.
Great app but missed a trick by not having the AR split screen so it can be used with a headset. Such a simple thing to include, felt poorly thought out there.
Lacks a lot of functionality compared to the desktop website version. Also, viewing collections gives an error about having no internet connection despite there being one. Why is this major bug not fixed yet?
1. Instead of hiding the assets a mobile device can't preview, simply place a symbol on the thumbnail that indicates the mesh cannot be loaded on a mobile - this way, my profile doesn't look like it's empty. 2. Allow filters in the search function. I'd like to be able to create a collection of downloadable assets for when I finally get to my pc. 3. Make sure users can view followers and followings - networking is crucial to success. 4. No seller's features? Really?
This app is absolutely great, It sometimes helps me with my drawing since I'm a beginner artist. but sometimes when I click on a model it turns into a pitch black, I hope you can fix that, and also can y'all also add a feature that we can move the models? Thank you! Goodbye. :)
