When using Skim Plus all you need to do is hit Refresh, this will quickly search for any Bluetooth Skimmer hardware near you up to 100 meters or 330 feet. It will then let you know if any known Bluetooth Skimmers are present before you swipe your card.
Skim Plus marks detected Bluetooth Skimmers onto a Map so you can see all the skimmers which were found across the globe and stay far away from those locations when you use your Credit or Debit Card. This is so you know that a Bluetooth Skimmer had been detected at a specific Gas Station or ATM. This also lets Law Enforcement know where a Skimmer has potentially been spotted.

I have not tried detecting at credit card stations yet. Will report on scan performance later. The app plays like early beta. Press refresh. Message says "need to turn on Bluetooth." OK, I then turn on Bluetooth. Then I have to press refresh again. The scan is completed. I then exit the app. Then is find Bluetooth is still on. I turn off Bluetooth. Settings should be provided to allow automatic turn on and turn off of Bluetooth to enhance user friendliness.
For anyone wondering, the difference between the free version and the full version is access to the community built map of GPS pins marking previously found skimmer/shimmers. The Beta app will still scan your surrounding area, it just will not record the location.
As this being the first app ive seen that does this and has identified multiple skimmers already at gas stations everywhere is awesome. I would definitely recommend this app to those of you who are cautious about your card info being stolen by bad people. I'll being getting ad-free version soon since my phone has some weird graphical glitches with them, but worldwide view of IDed skimmers is really helpful
Very accurate turned on and off my bluetooth device in my house and picked them up when they where on and did not pick them up when they where off. Also a little scary when it came to the location. Had my address to my house perfect match but I guess that's a good thing considering where you would be would not want a false positive at your location if the gas station had one across the street and the place your at is safe thanks hope it helps with all the pay at the pump I do and I lock cards to
When I first downloaded it, it worked great. Showed active bluetooth in the area, told you if any were known skimming devices. Now it just says scanning and nothing pops up. Please fix, using galaxy s9.
This Ap really works well. I use it every time I pump gas. I have received the notice from the Ap a couple of times "possible skimmer found". Needless to say, I did not use those pumps. I downloaded Sim Plus after being taken for $500 at gas stations....$100 at different stations....after being caught by a skimmer. I cannot say enough good things about it!
Download and attempted to use on a Samsung Galaxy S10e Andriod version 10 and the scanner continuously scans with no end in sight. Not sure which algorithm you are using but doesn't seem to scale.
Six times my credit card was compromised last year. I don't slide my credit card unless I check this app first. The best defense is to only use a machine that reads your chip or you're just playing with fire.
Good app to get to ensure it's safe before swiping your card, especially on the outside. Found a known skimmer at a gas station i always go to, so went in prepaying with cash & notifying the guy on duty showing him the results. Worth running before swiping.
Located two skimmers today at one gas station using this app. Tape seals were not broken on the pumps. Manager was also glad to hear about this app so hopefully skimmers will be located quicker in the future. Likewise, the responding officers were glad to hear about the app and will now use it at gas stations throughout their jurisdiction.
Works as advertised. I haven't found a skimmer yet, but I've been able to see several devices around me while out in the wild.
Using Galaxy 7. everything worked before the last update and now it says starting Discovery and holds there indefinitely.
So far no problems. Gives sense of security. Has never picked up a skimmer so I hope it's accurate.
Requires location for some reason. All this should need is bluetooth to detect a skimmer.
Killed my connection to Ford Sync on my Galaxy G9. Unable to force a sync until uninstalled. Not ready for distribution in my opinion.

Question for dev, would this detect skimmers through drive throughs? I have a sneaking suspicious of someone who stole my card info at a Popeyes.

looks pretty neat. Just a suggestion, unless Android forces you to confirm turning on Bluetooth every time, have it be a one time confirmation. And for the same of battery economy have the app check if Bluetooth was off when the app started and when you close the app it turn Bluetooth back off (and does nothing if Bluetooth was on)
