Very useful. I have several allergies with most having many names. It's impossible to remember all of them. The app does flag products as not safe for me but does not point out which ingredients are not safe. The website does point out the not safe for me ingredients. Although I find the app very useful, that feature added would be wonderful.
Cannot set personal allergies. I need to find product with no PEG for my daughter. I was able to add it online as a search but here I cannot. Worthless. I was hoping to add personal badges but you just want the doctor paying for the app- you don't actually want to help people. It makes me doubt it is being regularly updated so it won't catch ingredient changes.
I used to not be able to find many products, but more became available over time which is great. I use the app a lot and it saves tons of time not having to read long ingredient lists. Eliminating all my allergens from my environment made a huge difference for my health.
Allergen Check Doesn't Include Top 9 food allegiance. It's great that there is an allergen check portion for topical allergens, however those with food allergies often cannot use products with those allergens as well. It would be beneficial to also include the top 9, as defined by the FDA.
Good starting point for anyone with product/chemical sensitivities/allergies (e.g. 30% of the population are sensitive to fragrance, with 1-3% allergic to one of the key ingredients of fragrance, limonene (once oxidised)). I just wish the product selection in the app was more international rather than just US-based, particularly given most products can be ordered online these days too. Also, some of the product badges are inaccurately applied to products, so do your own research also
Omg one of the most useless apps I've ever had. Such a BRILLIANT idea, but lacks information, range of products. You don't have L'oreal?? Come on seriously? Can't input your allergens without a doctor. Unable to upload a picture of a product as its so blurry you're unable to read the ingredients. You're sitting on a amazing idea. But that's all it is. No sense of efficiency here. Don't bother downloading and wasting your time.
Borderline useless. 95% of major brands I scan don't have information. And in the rare occasion a scan gives me a result, the information for warnings is not visible. This app is a great idea but it's worthless and wastes my time in this state
The app camera is not good at all. You can't get good photos to add new products. The ingredients blurry I think it makes it more difficult to analyse for skinsafe team
Disappointed, no responses from app managers. This app is supposed to give a person guidance as to products that are safe for allergens. It does not address commonly used products, only products that not many people used. I have asked for guidance on specific items back on 08/08/2019 (today is 09/22/2019) and as yet, I have received no response--not even an indication that they are working on a response. I view this app as worthless!
NO ADS. You can filter search results by your needs. With rosacea, I can find products with no fragrance, no irritants and no properly glycol extremely easily. So many products that are labeled "fragrance free" do have fragrance (flower extracts, essential oils, masking fragrances with very obscure names, ... ) I spent so much money buying "fragrance free" products that ended up causing bad irritation. I was so frustrated & confused. W this app, I learned that every one of them had fragrance.
Useless. My allergist gave me a paper about this app but unless they create a personal allergy code for me, its useless. I should be able to enter the ingredients that I want to avoid without a Dr saying I'm allergic. Otherwise I can just Google the ingredients myself. Very disappointed. I was told I could search for "makeup" that does NOT contain "chemical A or B". Uninstalling this useless cr-app.
The products I tried to check are not their list and keep asking me to send a photo of front and back. It's useless for me and the developers are using me to get a products list as far as I concerned. I am uninstalling this app. Big disappointment!
Good luck figuring out how to use it or read the settings. Get nothing but errors on the about us and other pages. Had such high hopes too.
Nice concept -- App and Web Page dont work. 1) You can't create a mobile account. The birth year function defaults to a two-digit number which errors. I created a PC account & attempted to notify SkinSafe o But pc contact email page errors. 2)Incomplete Allergies flags. The How SkinSafe works lists neomycin & pdc but not on drop down 3) My allergens page doesn't work.
It would be nice if you see which ingredient, i.e. highlight it versus your allergy listed. Never has any of my products so it's a lot of work for me and tbh, not very helpful thus far. Just extra work.
I didn't get a PAC number from my doctor but I know the allergens I cannot have. Where can I add them so I know the app is helping me with this? The app doesn't seem to allow me to do it I also cannot see the last item on the top allergen section due to back button being too big.
Can't use outside US I was using this as a Google websearch to find products I could use. Tried to download the app which asks you to register but will not allow you to put in a non US zip code. So utterly useless in other countries which is a shame as it appeared to be a valuable resource. Disappointed
Can't even read the terms of use, before I attempt to create a account. It says error and never comes up.
Sometimes helpful, but mostly I am frustrated with the information provided for products I search. Many times the product will be listed as not safe for me, but looking at the ingredients I can't understand why because my allergens aren't listed in the ingredients. So why not safe? I have no idea. I don't feel like I can make an informed decision without knowing WHY a specific product isn't safe.
I love this app. It has helped me tremendously. I'm constantly scanning things and sending them in to be rated. I'm celiac and this helps me avoid gluten. I want to thank the creators for this amazing resource!!
I like it but every time I try to scan in a product, it crashes. Not fun, because I have a few products that aren't in the system.
Apps needs work. Viewing 1 product should not automatically scroll you all the way up to the beginning. Also having to keep hitting the back button is giving me old vibes
This app, and their whole site, is a joke. Go to any store, and start scanning. See how many things actually have been tested. And I'm talking about main stream products.
I really like the app and I love the idea of it, but it needs some work. The scanning feature is wonderful! I'm not sure why you can submit some products for review, but not others. The camera never gets a clear picture of the ingredients. So I'm submitting many products, but getting emails saying they can't read the ingredients. My phone camera works fine and is always clear. Also the zoom is off. Its starts out like a far away fishbowl mode and when you zoom in it never focuses properly.
