My first review was deleted. The open letter nearly a month after killing off app functionality doesn't change my opinion about the app. It no longer does anything without paying when it was supposed to be a free app. Additionally, the update has destroyed any usefulness of the actual wall unit. Whether it follows the watering schedule or not it completely random. Unless I manually start the watering I can't rely on it to work any longer. Very disappointed.

Stay far away from these hucksters. Had a technical problem requiring phone support. Called and waited, ok fine, as the automaton let's you know your progress on the queue. Then when it's your "turn" it sends you to voicemail! 🤬 Plus, they started requiring a subscription this year. I'd be ok with that, too, if it weren't for the buggy app. STAY AWAY!

My connected thermostat doesn't charge $$ me to connect to it. I don't see what's so special about Skydrop that they feel like they need to. Skydrop should not charge me for basic functionality. At least give me the option to turn the system and zones on & off remotely! Make that version free & charge your fee for anything above and beyond that. I'll be on the lookout for another irrigation controller to replace this unusable device.

I was willing to pay the fee that was recently instituted. I understand from the open letter I read today that their business is struggling. But regardless, the app freezes on the splash screen since I upgraded to Android 10. I emailed customer support last week and have yet to receive a response. Also, I had to disable watering for a week, when I re-enabled, the Skydrop has decided that only 2 zones out of 6 need water anymore in 90 deg heat. Multiple Bugs + no support = time to move on?

I just downloaded this app again, after almost a year, AND IT SEEMS TO BE WORKING AGAIN! I left some horrible reviews about a year ago, which I believe were deserved at the time, but since it looks like they (Skydrop)fixed their issues, I am happy to adjust my review. I really liked this product when I first purchased it, and I am very happy that I have the easy control back! Thank you!

Subscription required! We purchased the Skydrop control last year and loved the ease of use. After the winter we turned it back on to find out a monthly (or annual) subscription was required to control our watering system through this app. Now we have zero access to watering when we travel. So there is basically no reason for this product or app.

Worked great at first, but now randomly refuses to water. Schedule shows it will water tomorrow, but tomorrow it will say that it's not watering that day. Have had to factory reset multiple times per year to fix. App configuration is confusing and very delayed, often get messages that it's offline. Support does not respond at all. Replacing with a different controller.

Changed it to fee based after having a free service for years. Claimed it was due to the cost of weather data but they took away features like manual water and setup that have nothing to do with the weather. I read the letter and i still do not use the weather service, i just wanted the setup and manual mode that the app had initially.

app and controller have been buggy from beginning. I have had this installed and used for over one year. it continually losses connection, and now you have to upgrade and pay in order to turn on a zone manually outside of schedule remotely. I have a Orbit that works much better, and has more features and options. I'll be replacing this work another orbit controller

2 days ago on 6/14 the forced upgrade became available and locked out all of my mobile controls after 2 years of having and loving this system. I went into the app to pay the fee but found that the supposed $17.99 yearly payment, (as promised in the email), wasn't even an option. Went ahead and did the $1.99 monthly payment since I had no other choice. That was 2 days ago and my controls are STILL locked out and the app still tells me to upgrade even tho the payment went thru immediately.

Used to work so well but for about a year it hasn't worked. For a while it was coming on every night. Now it doesn't come on at all and even when I turn them on manually from the app, they don't stay on claiming a connection error. But it's connected. Tried emailing but no response. So bummed.

Bait and Switch on the controller. I've had a SkyDrop since the beginning and it was advertised the control would provide weather data and full functionality with for the price of the controller. Now you want to charge a monthly fee after I suffered the past few years with your terrible web interface and crappy mobile app. I say no way and goodbye SkyDrop.

Updating review based on the now (again) functional app with Android 10. App now works like before. Only remaining issue is accuracy of smart watering. It would be nice to be able to adjust the sensitivity of that function so that it doesn't water at all if any rain is forecasted. My back lawn is watering too often in rainy periods.

Skydrop has a poor app that has constant issues. Now they require a monthly subscription fee for this buggy service. The irrigation controller is okay but the basic smart features advertised and sold as free during time of purchase are no longer available without paying the new monthly fees. This is a bait and switch. Skydrop is subpar company with a bad app in comparison to other smart irrigation controllers.

your open letter is not a good excuse to charge a fee for something that was offered out of the box. want to roll out new functions, fine charge for that. weather costs going up, ok MAYBE roll smart watering into fee based. but to completely disable everything but seeing next water time... I can look at the controller for that... total garbage. would not be surprised if class action suit coming your way. best of luck while I go to someone else.

I will be looking for a replacement controller. if the weather data is the main issue as you stated just charge for that. the actual controller interface is trash. the app is pretty much the only thing that made it ok. Well found a replacement and it works fine even pulled up the correct address. skydrop continues to think my controller is in Australia. I hope you go out of business I bought your controller when it first came out and you all screwed your coustomers. btw this is the 2nd time th

Had Skydrop for almost 4 years. Sure it had a few issues from time to time but I truly found this app and device very helpful. Now they are demanding $1.99 for them to enable the "smart" features that made me purchase their product for $200 back in 2015. I I have since moved on to Rachio and never looking back.

poor app! Everytime I use the app at home or away I have to restart to connect after first selection. And now they are going to charge for the free monthly lack of service they had before. Sound like time for a refund and class action!! Now the product I purchased for almost $300 with a free app is now $79.99 with a monthly charge for using.

They dont answer the phone. You wait for your place in line and after being on hold as the 20th caller, you get a recorded message no one is available. I purchased this controller because it included the wifi and app cloud. They turned off my app and I can't even water my yard. All I use is the manual water or change the zone timing, nothing else. The weather part does not work correctly anyway. I already replaced it with Orbits b-hyve and it's a better controller anyway. No subscription fees.

I can no longer control from the app. I want some money back. When I bought the product the feature was there, now it had been removed, I would not have purchased this if I had known the app would not have this capability. Bad customer service. Now I just have a regular sprinkler without remote control. Could have bought one for a few dollars that does that.

I have never wrote a review that was negative until now. I have purchased this product because of nice features and ability to controls zones manually. I have even purchased additional product to set it up for my neighbors. I am very disappointed that now you want us to pay $1.99 per month. I promise that as soon as the product dies or even earlier I will change to to the competitor's product and never promote this product again. Learn for the future. You do not take away features and charge.

do not buy this product. it was great then started charging for access to the clock via mobile device. the interface on the clock is almost impossible to use. while it does work its not intuitive. I installed thissystems for my irrigation clients at a Premium price few years later I start getting calls from them that they cant access without ongoing payments. I will never install this clock again. I know it uses the cloud. charge for premium features not basic access to its core functions

If I could give less than a star I would! Super dissapointed that your supports answer to your app not working with most recent Android OS upgrade, is sorry for the inconvenience. Not only am I canceling and uninstalling this app/subscription. I am replacing my Skydrop controller with one that has been technical support. Lost me as a customer forever and I suggest others do the same!
