Skype Lite - Free Video Call & Chat

Skype has, is and always will be my go to app for video calling. Unfortunately the primary app has serious issues in terms of performance and is not as reliable. I would definitely recommend Skype Lite for everyone who, like me, did not have a great experience with the primary app as it is extremely smooth in terms of both performance and reliability. Highly Recommended 👍🏻

All important features provided in the lite version including the video meetings. However, the AI based message aggregation has been not prepared so far despite after setting it default msg app. Also some messages don't open in sms, insight does not show anything even if I installed it weeks ago and made it default. After seeing the msg, when back button is pressed, it does not revert back to msg. This is pretty bad. 5 star if AI insights and sms behave the way as promised.

I honestly prefer the lite version to the og Skype android app. It's not even because of the space issue. In the og app, during calls, the icons of the participants eats up almost 1/4th of the screen and makes it quite difficult to follow what's happening on the screen. This issue isn't there on the "lite" app. Hopefully the og app fixes that issue soon too.

Great app to connect both personally and professionally. One thing I would like to add is, while trying to send a picture, an in-app feature for editing the picture would be nice. Also if there is a custom ringtone feature, I would say, this app is perfect.

Loved the SMS insight but cant read the promotional messages under SMS section, it comes blank. While under same section, any direct message from a person works fine. Multi selection to delete the messages (SMS) doesn't work. You can understand the frustration to delete promotional message (sms) one by one. Skype chat and Notification doesn't work on time, device - Honor 8 Pro (6GB RAM) with Android 9.

If you don't have enough space to install the main Skype app, surely install its Lite version. It is truly the greatest communication app packed with all the requirements an user normally needs- chat, voice calling and video calling(max. 24 PEOPLE apart from user) both individually or IN GROUP. This application can be used as AN ALTERNATIVE OF WHATSAPP OR MESSENGER. Sometimes, it did survey about my video calling experience. But there is NO GROUP ADMIN and anyone can delete or clear the group.

User experience is very bad when I use Skype as my default sms app. For viewing sms on my phone I click on sms insights, then swipe left to go to sms tab then click on any list item to view all the messages under that item. But when I click back it goes to home page again. Now if I wanted to see another list item I have to again go through above steps to reach there. This is very bad design, clicking back should go to sms tab screen which shows all the list items and not to the home page.

Every time I reinstall app, it never syncs to the contacts and chat.. It's frustrating to not be able to check to the latest chats.. and there's no option in the settings as well to make the app sync to the last chats.. that's it's main feature, please focus on improving this.

Ongoing call notification pops up at least 20-30 times a day and automatically disappears too. I don't know what's going on with this app.... (This is When I am working on different things on the phone and not even using Skype). Anyway, I am happy with the call quality and lesser lag time.

Notifications sounds are very bad. Whenever I receive a message or a call through Skype. I don't have any notification sound. If someone calls me unless and until I open the app I cannot see the incoming call notification

Worst app ever. I have a Wi-Fi router and it works very smoothly my games and other apps too works as smooth as butter but this app is not working properly. Please remove the bugs too. I go in and come out of the conference in between.

I m using redmi note 8 and skype lite is creating audio issue. Other person is not able to hear my voice on voice calls. I tried to send audio messages and these are working fine but while calling my mic is not working even after trying wireless headphones with mic. Messages are not showing notifications even after allowing show notifications, allow sound and allow floating notification permissions.

Two stars as a thank you for letting the app be transferable to sd card... and now the problem is every time i power off the phone the app is logged out automatically and then after some times this happens you send me a phone no verification. . Whatcan i do never power off my phone..??

Deletes all contacts automatically. When I installed this app from Google Play store and gave permission for contacts, it jist wiped all my contacts. I uninstalled and after a week installed again. It again does the same. Whats happening. I am using Stock Android v 8.1.0 mobile handset.

I was searching for some way to call US toll-free number from India and this is when I came across the idea to use Skype. Now this lite version takes less memory and so I didn't have to delete any existing app....I have consumed the space mostly.... Well now I have just finished the call and it was seamless. Thanks skype team for this wonderful app.

Messages in the mobile app are not getting display sequentially as it is properly getting display in web application and desktop application.. So this is not at all user friendly app as I am unable to understand the user conversations so cannot rely on this application to reply to my contacts... Nd it always show me the last messages of recent chats as a notifications although those chats are already read few hours ago...

I loved the lite version of Skype, however there is one problem. "Mark as read" from notification is not working. Rest everything is great. Thanks 😊 update: "Mark as read" issue seems to be fixed in recent update

I use this app just to make voice calls. With a minimal internet speed, I was able to accomplish what I wanted to do with a phone call. Voice is so clear. App is just right on the point. Cheers!!

The notification system is completely broken. Half the time you don't get notifications at all. Sometimes old messages are displayed as new ones. Microsoft no longer cares about Skype ☹️

From the start itself I'm having trouble with editing my profile. I'm not able add my phone number or anything. When I click the edit button it's loading for ever. I've 4G connection still nothing happening.

I'm really expecting for a reply to my complaint from your side. First of all Skype lite doesn't provides a bit of security at all! It starts video instantly when I join a video call. Secondly, I often get knocked off while I surfing another app while on a video call! Lastly, there is lesser power in the hands of the host/admin of the group! I request your team to take an immediate response in the above mentioned issues.

This app is useless, made me almost throw my phone. Everytime I join my call, it opens up the video which I have not configured so, my default is audio. And even if internet good, connection is so intermittent. Hangs over a million times. Just uninstalled it.

The notifications are pretty messed up on Android 8.1. Sometimes they won't go when we click"mark as read" button and sometimes already read message will pop up with new messages in the notifications.

Personaly I'm very grateful to the Skype Team for ever made the lite version, i was having trouble with the full version for a long time, slow, Bugg and all but since I use the lite everything goes smoothly...😉

Nice experience with Skype. Smooth video calling experience. No lag even when more than 10 people are there in the group. Video Calling with chat option that's a nice feature also with media sharing. Audio is coming clear.

Unable to receive messages on phone. I reinstalled the app, still I cannot see the messages. I can see the messages I send but not the once I receive. Fix this asap it's causing a lot of trouble in work

I wonder if Skype even perform end to end testing of app before releasing to public.. blocked contacts can see status updates, profile pic, last seen and other info.. invisible mode turns to active on its own every other day.. Seriously I can go on but the list won't stop.
