Well it works on two devices (android 10 and 11) better than most of the other mock GPS apps I've tried. Does not appear to work in landscape mode which seem pretty inexcusable for app developers. App always defaults to "knots" when opening, which is another inexcusable for app developers. The whole "mock gps" is really interesting. There's no way of really telling if it's working correctly.
Works extremely poor with Samsung Galaxy s20. & Galaxy GPS works 10x better for 90% of applicants. Only bonus this has is refresh rate. Sometimes connects in 15+ attempts other times 2-3. Needs over 10-12+ satellite connections to give any kind of reading. You could leave this in an open field and it still won't connect to 12 satellites to give you a GPS coordinates, altitude or speedo... Useless for Galaxy users, it's programmed to work for crapple.
XGPS150A - does not connect to my Chromebook tablet via bluetooth. Very dissatisfied with this product. Connects to Iphone with no problem. Other devices connect to Chromebook w/o problems. Will be sending it back. Customer service didn't have an answer as to why.
I purchased the XGPS150A to correct a Loss of GPS Signal on my TAB-8. Could not understand why or how to get the 150 to communicate with the Google Map program. But, it appears that I have resolved the issue thanks to the instructions here. Thanks for the assistance...
Really happy with how easily it syncs, but settings (speed, altitude mock gps, etc) reset to default every time I open the app.
Won't stay running in the background so it's essentially useless with Avare. I have a Huawei Mate SE device. Additionally it won't remember my "mock" setting and I have to select that every time I open it. Frustrating.
App doesn't have a whole lot of functionality but it worked for confirming the basics on my GPS device are working properly.
not usable, app crashes on startup
Better than the earlier version
Unable to see battery status, which previously working
There are only a few features that work: the battery meter does work for me and the number of sattelites connected. Getting saved logs does not work on this device (note 8) because it alwats reports a 0kb file when trying to share / save, on anither device (maven 2) the buttons next to the log entries are not even visible. This feature does work on the ios app, where however the firmware update does not (on the android version the update firmware option does not evem show up).
New version is supposed to fix battery meter, it does not. Battery level still reported low even though GPS unit is fully charged. Also app seems to not like to run in the background. It crashed when I switched into another app or went to OS home screen. I only wanted to use app to determine firmware, so in that respect it did connect to device
App is free, and lousy. Stops/crashes from time to time. If they get the app to work, it would be great. I use the free Bluetooth GPS app instead -- less buggy, stays connected, and better coded. The Dual XGPS hardware, however, is brilliant (that's 5 stars); the app that comes with it (this one) should be labeled BETA or even ALPHA software. When they get it right, it'll probably be good. For now, stick to the other freeware like Bluetooth GPS.
Screens cannot be resized, all far too small on Nexus 7 and virtually unreadable on HTC smartphone. Satellite status screen almost useless; SVs correctly identified but positions wildly incorrect. No apparent ability to enable 'Mock GPS Provider' feature under 5.1 so app cannot act as 'helper' to interface XGPS160 with other software. Does not offer option for XGPS160 firmware upgrade, unlike Apple version. XGPS160 battery life indication erratic. Very heavy on tablet battery power. Often stops working when other apps invoked and will not re-link unless XGPS160 turned off and on again. All in all, poorly implemented and ultimately pointless -- Bluetooth GPS much more reliable and useful. Definitely not recommended for aviation use.
I am a volunteer Firefighter and recently retired Paramedic in a rural area of Southcentral Kentucky. I purchased the XGPS150 for a farming map app that turned out to be less than useful. I had stored the XGPS150 away and forgot about it until today. I installed the app on my Android phone and it works decent. I am disappointed that I have to re-set the format for speed and coordinate display every time I start the app. I do not have a need to leave it running in the background as I will only use it for the Fire service for the purpose of setting up landing zones for aeromedical helicopters. The app needs an update to save the set formatting.
