Skywave Schedules

Skywave Schedules is primarily designed for use with portable shortwave radios, allowing you to easily find shortwave broadcast or utility stations by listing their frequency and broadcast times.
Stations can be searched using Broadcast, Utility or both types.
You can now listen to stations direct from the Schedules using an internet/data connected phone thanks to KiwiSDR and WebSDR.

The shortwave schedule broadcast seasons change at the end of March (to Season 'A') and October (to Season 'B') which can result in inaccurate listings being displayed until broadcasters publish their broadcast schedules or listeners locate what frequencies have changed. Use the Download 'Schedules' option in the apps settings to ensure you have the latest schedules. The app should check on startup for any updates to the schedules, this ensures you have the latest schedules installed. The app author is not responsible for accuracy of schedules, please consider this if you review the app.

Search for a station using any combination of the following, allowing you to filter your search to find or identify a station easily:

- Station Name
- Frequency (Option for +-10kHz)
- Time (On-Air Now, On-Air Next, Anytime or Specific)
- Band
- Target Area (Multiple Target areas can be selected)
- Language (Multiple Language areas can be selected)
- List Type i.e. Broadcast, Utility or Broadcast & Utility

Key Features:
- Separate schedules for broadcast and utility stations or both
- Listen to shortwave stations on air right now direct from the schedules with the app automatically selecting a receiver based on the Target Area, with the option to manually enter a frequency or select a different receiver/region
- Station look-up as you type, helps you find your station easily
- Scrollable list of stations to browse
- Search for stations on-air now, on-air next, specific time or anytime
- Select a Band to search for stations (Longwave to 11m)
- Offline map to show station transmitter location as well as distance from your receiver if you enter your Lat/Long
- Can be used off-the-grid, not reliant on an internet connection when searching (once schedules have been downloaded)
- Search using any combination of Station, Frequency, Band, Time, Target Area, Language or Type of Broadcast
- Search for frequencies nearby using the +-10kHz option
- Add Favourites for Broadcast and Utility stations
- Logbook feature with ADIF export option
- Utility filter, allowing you to move stations to the Utility list manually
- Get further useful information about a station, such as transmitter location, broadcaster's country, days on-air, target area and language
- Online schedules update, only updates if schedules are newer

The schedules used in the app are from EiBi ( www.eibispace.de ) and AOKI for additional station data, sometimes amendments are made by the developer.

Skywave Schedules is free to use and advert free.

Enjoy listening to Shortwave!

Disclaimer: The app has the ability to tune to radio stations by way of SDR receivers around the world. The nature of radio propagation may result in a station not being received in the Target Area or that the station is not currently on-air or may have changed their broadcast times, this is outwith control of the developer, please understand this when reviewing the app.

It was great. Spend hours on it searching the whole world. Now the menu options are all gone! Can't pick target other than yourself. Can't do that because and ask for a longitude and latitude but only allows four digit entry total for each coordinate and doesn't allow the negative. App is pretty much useless now.

I had to downgrade after the latest update because of errors. I did not write down the errors or take a screenshot. I would like a way to quickly scroll down not so much for broadcast stations but would be helpful with the huge number of utility stations.

Lots of buttons, all kinds of options and I've got nothing. Not intuitive; maybe it doesn't like my android. I'll keep playing with it later when I have an hour to waste.

Google will not let me edit my last review, so I have to write another one. Reset within settings solved my no results found problem, thank you.

Great app! However, recently has stopped working on my Lenovo Chromebook. Initial splash screen shows for a split second, then nothing. Error message reads "app has stopped" Works fine on my android phone. Great app and good job!! Update: As of September 3 or so, it seems to be working on my Chromebook now, I think after a Chrome OS update, or maybe some developer action. It doesn't render 100% correctly, the top part of the graphic is just off the top of the screen, so the back arrow is not reachable, but there is another back arrow on the OS, so that's not a big problem. Haven't tried all the features yet, but seems to look OK! Great App!!

This is one of the, if not the best app I've ever come across on here. So much easier than the websdr pages on a browser! Well done! My only suggestion, if you were to drop the "schedule" from the name, I guarantee you would get more hits and downloads, as it stands the name of the app suggests that its merely a schedule or a guide to upcoming broadcast as opposed to a fully functioning air band receiver.

I would really like this app to work, but after hours of trying, I hear nothing but static whatever station I try, anywhere in the world. Have uninstalled and reinstalled, but no difference. Do I need to plug in an aerial or something? I'm obviously missing something as I just can't seem to fathom it. Would be nice to have a simple user guide as the interface is not intuitive to me. EDIT. Got it sorted now, thank you. Excellent 5 star app now, which does everything I want it to do :)

I used to be an avid swl'er back in the 80s and 90s and we're all pretty much familiar with what the past few decades have brought... Besides skywave schedules...but still a good app and damn good idea from the developer to snag a few stations left from the good old days and some tropicals, keep it up.

This is a fantastic app for shortwave listening! You can enter the frequency of any broadcast you may hear, and it will give you all the info you need. You can confirm the broadcast by listening through a network of servers, and you can also document each one you find. Perfect!

Exactly what i was looking for ... However a few suggestions ... If you add a minimise option to the kiwiSDR, That would be awesome... Also the very tini-tiny plus and minus buttons to scroll across stations are actually very small so if its possible to maybe move them on a seperate window in the app .. i dunno ... Just my personal opinion... You have to be so very careful to not press any of the other options in the kiwiSDR interface, None the less.. perfect app 4 worldwide radio on internet

Intermittent. But that's exactly what shortwave radio is. This gives you an great little taste of what it's like to own a short wave radio. Though obviously not a substitute for the real thing. It's very informative and educational. Showing information and displays you don't get on a real radio.

This was a great app until fall of last year when it crashed upon opening on Android devices. I brought this to the attention of the developer twice since then - still no resolution. I reinstalled again today, 1-27-19, same problem. UPDATE: 11-18-21. App is working great now. UPDATE 18 Nov. 21 App is working great now

The all new version is great. It have some new features. But I little difficult to hear the online streaming, the volume is too low. Can you add volume control for it?

Great app. I like the fact yhat it is tied into listening stations all over the world. I am having a hard time turning on the waterfall if you can make that easer that would be great. God Bless.

I have been using this app for a few months now, great features and really like the various seach filters. Logbook is handy and allows easy record keeping. Skywave Schedules helps recieving and identifying shortwave broadcasts in New Zealand, great App.

Wow! What a Terrific app 4 learn'g or even teach'g SDR (& even trial'g a variety of SDRs, around the World, that you can Remotely Access, via its own "KiwiSDR" client) w/ No need for any H/W ('cause you're using others' SDRs), beyond your compatible phone/tablet. How easy is it to put online & add -our- SDRs, eg, to help us use up excess bandwidth & "give-back virtually"? ;~) If I'd only know about "Skywave Schedules" when I was teaching IT or Electronics. Teachers: "Try this at School!!!"

Thank you for continuing to update the schedules and hope you do get back to further development of this app...which we need to connect those that believe the world is only what they see on devices held in their hand and not what they can hear with their ears on Shortwave Radio.

5 stars if you can "link" it to the sdr++ app that is in development...

Great for locating what stations are on shortwave. However i havent been able to hear anything, all i'm able to hear is static when i try to play a station. Is there any way to improve reception?

Rob. B. Aug 9, 2021

Unless you understand shortwave radio you are unlikely to appreciate this app for what it is. You need to learn to move the tuner (looks like a tiny yellow M) to an active broadcast on the spectrograph. Once you are comfortable with that, finding stations is a breeze, but if you grew up on ROKU and SiriusXM then you're likely going to balk at the rudimentary tech involved. This app will appeal to the type of people who build crystal set radios when they're bored.

Accurate. And reliable.
