SlimSocial for Facebook

Doesn't work well. Usually it loads with a blank feed. Pulling down to refresh causes the feed to update and display for a second before vanishing. The 10% or so of the time it does work it is what is needed in that it is the feed without all the stuff clogging it up in the official FB app, but is just too unstable to use as main client.

This app has become unusable. I can't look at events, pages, I can't search, it randomly switches to a whole different language, it sometimes just won't let me tag anyone, and now it's doing this thing where I'll comment something and it will only shows the first letter of the comment and everything else disappears when I post it. This used to be a great alternative to the official Facebook apps, now it's trash. And the creator doesn't seem to give the slightest care. Been months of no change.

OK, but glitchy. E.g., cannot reliably go back to same place in newsfeed after clicking on a post; cannot search for people, groups, or pages (always says there's no internet connection). Edited to add: Just noticed I can't access my profile security and privacy settings. I get the page saying I have no internet connection. If it's not fixed very soon I'll uninstall.

This is a great alternative to the official FB app, not a bunch of ridiculous permissions, ads hideable, FB messages can be seen. But in all the years I've used it, there has always been an issue with some aspect of text appearing readably using the dark theme. Currently, if someone has commented on a post, it appears in black text on dark gray background in the preview. Click into comments, you can read them. It would be 5 stars if everything was readable in dark mode without extra clicks.

I'm really satisfied with this app. I'll mention only 3 bugs that I'd like to be fixed. First one is occurring using Marketplace: going back after seeing an item makes you come back to the news feed instead of the marketplace home page. Thus meaning starting again with the same search for seeing other results. Second one are the lack of calls and the display of messenger app in general, which don't allow you to do many things other than typing short messages. Long messages are in fact quite difficult to write since the really short space available to read your message while you're typing. Last but not the least: tagging other people using the @tag is really painful and it's not always working. It isn't possible to tag a person only using his name and it's not possible to tag pages. That's all. Keep up the good work!

I've used this app for many years and it's my absolute favourite. Only complaint is that lately it's been difficult to tap on the react icons. Holding my finger on the like button and waiting for the icons to pop up takes multiple attempts and it's frustrating. I hope you can take a look at it.

I like this app, but having trouble posting pictures to Facebook from my gallery. I can browse, I select a picture, but post button is grayed out. Also, having troubles accessing one of the pages I manage, and messages for that page. Just keeps loading messages page asking me to search for messages from friends, with a list of friends to click on, as suggestions, below. Confession, I do have an older android phone, but everything else works great.

It's alright. A bit slow and glitchy, and it's an older mobile version of facebook so I can't droomscroll all my groups in one feed. That said, no adds, no stories, no BS. Makes Facebook decent to use again, once you get past the clunkiness.

'Message' button doesn't work for first time messaging.. it works only for person that I've sent messages before. Like: 1) ability to set newsfeed by most recent, 2) no noti sound/popup on noti bar whatsoever, hope there will be a on/off toggle when you finally fixed the noti problem. Dislike: More often than not, when I clicked on a post to read it and later pressed the 'back' button, it brought me not to the last point/post I clicked, but to the top of the page. I wish that it will be fixed.

This used to be my favorite Facebook app. Now all I see in my feed are "suggested" posts. Literally nothing from my friends show up for longer than 0.5 seconds before being replaced by suggested friends or suggested posts for me. Notifications still work, and messenger is okay, but could use improvement.

Says what it does. Its really slim. Not the most feature enriched Facebook wrapper out there but you're not downloading it for that. But there's space to improve the messenger section. At least push notifications is a must.

Clear, clean-cut app for FB. As of right now, only takes up 17.09MB worth of space on my LG phone! My only suggestion would be that like 'Simple for FB;' this app offers a way to 'pin'/save FB-pages|profiles|and misc. links to a menu, for revisiting later ('coz that's a *Bitchin'* option that no other FB-apps offer right now). Lastly, the 'Save/Download Photo' option in this app is refreshingly simple! 👏

Works pretty well for the most part. Editing a post has a problem. I can't scroll in a post that is more than a few lines. I swipe down but the text won't move to get to the upper lines. I have use browser foxfire for edits. Hoping the developer sees this.

All third party Messenger apps have been stopping to work recently. I was hoping I could find a well made wrapper for the desktop version of Messenger as a solution. With SlimSocial - I have found it. Unfortunately, there are no message notifications. Here's what I suggest: enable users to set a time interval that the app would use to check for new messages. For example: if the interval is set to 5 min, the app will load the top chat and check if there are any changes (new messages) every 5 min.

A lot of times the edit post feature that's supposed to be in the menu is no longer there. No way to post a photo anymore. This just keeps giving me an error message no matter whether I use the gallery or a file explorer.

The app is good on my phone, so far it gave me great experience surfing facebook. And here are the comments: - At first load, the app load quite slow and there are sponsored ad showed up, but after it fully loaded, sponsored ad went away --> one up vote. - When I clicked on external link, the app opened link with external broswer, however, when I returned to continue surfing or to share the link I liked,t the app returned to the top of New Feed, which is annoying since I have to acroll down again --> one down vote

Hi Dev, Thank you so much for creating this awesome replacement for Facebook app. One req, i have been facing "No Internet connection" issue a lot on the app on certain pages, such as when you click on birthday notification, etc. It will be great if you can fix this please !

Good but has a lot of bugs e.g. the dark mode, it still has the white background whenever you're reacting to a post and then a long black line on each reactions, the facebook watch button it always says no internet connection even though i have a strong wifi connection, fix this and it'd bring a great experience for your users, thanks

I've been using this app for quite a while and about 3 or 4 months ago this app began to give me the "no internet connection" error. So I erased cache and data, uninstalled and reinstalled, download earlier versions to no avail. Not sure what's going on with it. Pixel 4 XL, android 11, stock/rooted. Please fix

Very slim beautiful app without advertisements. It will become my go-to app for Facebook. I'm not sure what features it's supposed to not have. Or maybe I'll find that out at some point but it has everything you need for basic Facebook use. And it's open source!

Really nice free Facebook app. It's much smaller than "Facebook lite" because it does not waste 35 megs. Slim social also allows Facebook chats and messages without requiring you to install "Messenger lite".. "Slimsocial" does not seem to ping you in real-time when a friend messages you. ..the only way you know about an incoming message is to have the app live on your screen Still, not needing to install "Facebook lite" or "Messenger lite" saves your phone 85 megs.... thx

I don't know, maybe funding and time run out? It was great app, but now there are ads just like in Facebook. And messenger doesn't work, in the app i mean. Many times i get error that there is no internet connection, this happens sci frequently. I would pay for an app that doesn't connect days from me and doesn't show ads, this was doing this, but not anymore. What happened????

Very Impressive. Now make it smoother for showing pages. Also Add Text Copy feature. Text Copy is a very useful feature that enables to copy any text long presseing on facebook. I hope you will consider adding this feature.

Hasn't been updated recently. This used to be a great app but it hasn't been updated recently so I'm starting to have lots of bugs and issues with it. If you're thinking of getting it and it doesn't have a 2022 update, then don't bother.

Works great in most cases. Sometimes scrolling down makes refresh show up when I don't want to, like not at top of page yet. I would love Friend Lists to also have option to sort posts by post age not by popularity.

Historically good but lately -- for months -- hasn't been able to search in Facebook nor open the shortcuts page to reach things like Saved Pages. Loses a star from 4*. Switching to the UnhookMe app instead.

After 15 minutes of using it, I quickly decide to make a review of how light and fast this app works compare to Facebook lite and browser. The installation is extremely small footprint and very customizable. Here is some improvement and request for the app and here is my list: 1. Dark theme needs to be improved as some text could not be read especially Grey color text 2. Request to have option hide "people you may know" and "suggested groups".

SlimSocial is great if you want stripped-down access to FB and Messenger without all the bells and whistles. It is limited in what FB features are accessible; HOWEVER I find that a huge bonus, as the point for me is to spend less time and attention on FB. For someone who wants to limit FB use and has privacy and security concerns, SlimSocial is a great alternative to the official apps.
