The Ratnam Survey in 1948, the Sansoni Survey in 1954 and the Jayaratna Perera Survey in 1956 studied the bus services in Sri Lanka and all recommended that the companies should be nationalised.
The history of Sri Lanka Transport Board goes back to 1 January 1958; at the time known as the Ceylon Transport Board (CTB). The inaugural trip of the CTB took the Prime Minister and the Transport and Works Minister Maithripala Senanayake on a maroon luxury Mercedes-Benz bus imported from Germany. The bus is still owned by the Nittambuwa Bus Depot.
At its peak, it was the largest omnibus company in the world — with about 7,000 buses and over 50,000 employees. With privatization in 1979, it underwent a period of decline. The creation of a single nationalized entity made possible long-distance operations and running buses on a large number of rural routes.
First broken up into several regional boards, then into several companies, it was finally reconstituted as the Sri Lanka Transport Board in 2005. The move received bipartisan support in Parliament. It was hailed by the Joint Business Forum (J-Biz), which welcomed the revival of the CTB: this was one of the rare occasions on which the business community said a state bus service was better than privatized ventures.

trying from yesterday to book a bus. its time out. app and web is not working properly. payment gateway is timeout in every attempt. very good move, but no use. taking more then 100/= for a booking. but very difficult keep the connection with app and web. cant trusted. because no support from needed time Last 3,4 time i tryed to book from mobile application, but in last movement application closed. Can't trust the mobile app. Its won't work properly. Need pc to book or need to go bus stand to b
Departure and Destination drop downs are not accurate, not user-friendly. Add more destinations and develop this. ❤ Nice work.
There is a bug when doing payments through credit card. Once put all credit card informations and when requesting OTP application get crashed. Can't do anything beyond
Bus booking is awesome, but When I came to the Fort bus stand. I have to convince and teach the bus conductor, there is a facility called online booking and it not gives physical bus ticket😂😂. After going two times to the bus booking office at Fort Bus Stand. I'm able to get on the bus. Before digitalizing the system, tell the bus conductors, there is some kind of online systems like this. 😂😂😂
App is good. Appreciate the effort. But it gets stuck when continue the final step of bus booking (failed to submit the payment code)

It's not open
We expected this facilitie since long time. But we happy now. I have some suggestions to improve this app. 1. People need to know bus schedule - Just add all long rids like Colombo to Kandy, Colombo to Karatagama then the browsing time will increase. Only show View seats button for booking available buses, others show Booking Not Available. 2. Add main bus stops and stands to drop down list. It will help to search quickly. Please check train schedule app.
Good and much needed initiative with simple and user friendly interface. But sadly not working and suddenly exits from the app. Please fix and continue..
Recently had an incident, ibooked online and booking created successfully and i got the SMS message too. However when I came to the bus at the time of departure there was someone booked offline too. I had to call headoffice and the depo to confirm my booking and received the ticket from the conductor. It was middle of the njght 11.55 pm to be exact. Fortunately for me the other passenger whom booked offline hadn't payed yet. So I was able to recived the ticket. But it is really annoying when something like this happens. We trust this service to work properly since we are paying them. It is not accepted. Think about the other passenger who had to give up the seat. It was muddle of the night at badulla this incident happend. I am very disappointed in the service. Probably better if i walked to the depo my self and made the booking since then i can get the ticket issued from there my self.
