It does work, although the built in calibration is wrong. So far I have sent 3 of these off for calibration to a national standard and they all have been underestimating the value; all have a negative deviation of around 77% of what the actual value should be in µSv / h. I have not tested yet and do not know if these are in any way energy compensated to actually provide a value in µSv/h. So on the safe side so far I have found for a proper conversion from the CPM value given by the app to µGy/h is around 1.72 ± 0.09. I could not find any way within the app to actually change the gain, but if anyone knows a way to do this please let me know as this would allow for correct readings.
Works well on my Motorola G Play. Use airplane mode before opening app. Recalibrate in airplane mode if already ran app in regular mode. Menu/Settings/Recalibrate.
The app doesn't work great. Plug in registers as head set. No audio out put and any microwave WiFi or any other sources makes it sky rocket
non functioning piece of s***! .....sampled uranium glass, trinitite, fire alarm, trinium, all with no results...only thing it seems to respond to is sound...uninstall app and return product...
Tried 2 different units on a Samsung S7 and a Samsung Tab Pro. Neither one would work. Not even on tritium.
Works well! tested it on uranium glass and it detected low levels of radiation being emitted.
Works well but microphone access?! Stop trying to steal my info. I have bought the device so thats all you need access too.
Hard to test without a source.
Used CD-109 and CS-137 and saw absolutely nothing
will this app not work on android 7.1
Doenst have the sound option like in the screenshots. Add that back for 5 stars. also needs option to rotate the screen with devices with headphone jack at the bottom of the phone (Samsung S8)
Geiger/Muller tube is located at the end or top of the sensor, tested with thorium and it only picks up mostly gamma, not very sensetive to picking up beta radiation. If you want to be able to detect gama radiation/x-rays this is great but not useful for much else as it lacks the sensetivity
I've been using them for a while, works fine with notes,Galaxy S5, S6 aS7 and ipad. I love it that you can have this handy, and sgare the screen. It be nice if you could zero it and convert
It goes up at work inside and outside in my home in Cleveland, OH. 😓
Why does it need access to the microphone? Who determined the precision level, marketing? Each reading should be followed by a question mark, dollar sign, and perhaps an LOL
Add the click sound back
Put the clicking sound back in
Everytime you tap the Geiger tube, it counts as a click. Also it would have been nice if it had audible clicks.
I bought the smart Geiger adapt and it worked.
The app does not switch off my phone's microphone when the sensor is plugged into the microphone jack. That way every sharper sound triggers the rad count. S19 phone with Android 4.2.2
I had some uranium ore rock of known radiation and radiation detected. Even on smoke alarm I detected some counts.
Totally useless app and device and NO support from FTLABS or any of the vendors.Random readings, not even close to accurate. And, the vendor websites show a better app being used that shows immediate results, but no such app is present in the play store or online and the vendors ignore any questions asked about this lab. Worst device I have ever spent money on - just glad the worthless app is free!
Couldn't get it to work. Will stick with my hand held unit.
thank you
Very simple app but it does work.complaints...no audio click is available in settings. Very slow response. Why are there timers? This should function as a ratemeter (CPM, mR or uS/hr) or a dosimeter (uS or mR or total counts). I think the device is so insensitive, the long time filter is necessary. I used a Thorium mantle that measured 15000 CPM using a 44-9 probe and only produced about 9 counts over a minute ( got up to 12CPM after sever minutes. Smart Geiger Pro doesn't work at all.
