I rarely review apps, but this one is exceptional. Its easy to use and intuitive, does not have ads and the in-app purchase is inexpensive and purely cosmetic (adds themes, not functionality). The presentation is pleasing and professional and the content is deep and accurate. These are they types of developers we should support.
The app couldn't accurately ID the five minerals i put the info for (serpentine, blue beryl, olivine, jasper, and chert). Even though there is a part of the app that has a dictionary, the app doesn't have definitions readily available if you're detecting a hand specimen. The pictures once it gives you some suggestions are all gem quality/high quality versions of the mineral which are usually the ones you are least likely to have/easiest to ID without an app.
The concept of the app is excellent and the handspecimen mineral identification part is cherry on cake. But it was a lot dissapointing to note that there were very less minerals and even the important minerals like stilbite and apophylite were missing. I was to give 5 stars, but seeing the common minerals missing, made me rate 3 stars. Hope you guys work on it and add more minerals soon :)
Besides me learning new words It can't take a picture which would help with learning and identifying the rocks guess I'll have to download some other app for that disappointed in the help to identify stones without having to learn everything before I can identify anything it should be a marriage of both to get people interested in learning more but instead it's a turn off and it turns people away from wanting to learn more and using your app as a tool to do soπ€·π€¦
Good info and good way to figure out which mineral you have. Would like to see it hold the info instead of starting all over from square one when you need to get out of the app to check something.
Great if you're already smart about geology. If not, you will probably find this too esoteric to be helpful.
Well made informative app, however it doesn't contain any of the Radioactive minerals such as Tyuamunite,Uraninite, Autunite etc which are among some of the most beautiful and in some cases , Fluorescent awesome. Please update the database and then I will download again
Bare minimum variety of things to find. Not very informative unless you are a geological scientist.... But I have one in the family, he just lives out of town... Hence the need for an identification app. Doesn't have the features I was looking for at all.
Almost perfect. When returning to the mineral list the program should return to where you left the list and not back to the beginning.
Only a geologist would understand 99% of the words in this app it is not set up for the common user. And if I were a geologist I would not need this app. Unless you want to look up definitions constantly I wouldn't bother with this one I'm deleting it
Really nice app. I wish you could search by different tags, like searching by hardness or searching by specific gravity, but as it stands, still a really nice app. Add these changes and it would be 5/5 no doubt about it.
If you want to use this app for kids and be able to tell what type of rock or mineral they found or close to it good luck you've got too much science into it. You should have a picture page. Unless I am missing it.
This app is absolutely magnificent. It is truly Priceless in its ability to identify minerals. A great help to burgeoning budding young geologists.
great app, I searching, finally I got it, this app so helpful to find out each minerals physical properties, optical properties along with picture of individual minerals.
Geologic Time Scale is outdated. I also feel the mineralgical database can be expanded. Otherwise, coo app.
Perfect geology app. As a geology student this is the best geology app i have never had. I'm not more afraid of mineralogy. Thank's
I thought it included all minerals and rocks... I can only see afew of thousands of minerals there are worldwide. Can't we have an improvement really?
I like it I have tried several other apps including ones that wanted $ and it was way way way off more layman's terms would be great I'm a total fulltime ameture
When you arrow back it doesn't take you to previous place it takes you all the way back to the beginning, waste of time.
This is for someone that is familiar with all the terminology associated with geology.. not an amateur just trying to have some fun.
very nice app, have much information and good quality of a pictures, but will be good to read a few words about it. thanks
Searching for this kinda app for a long time. Really too much helpful for geology students!
As a strictly amateur geologist I love this app - easy to use and crammed with info that is intelligable to an arts graduate.
I wish there was more information on rare rocks,crystals,minerals... Like painite.
Good dictionary. Rock id is average, but helpful. It does have pictures to help id.
to identify minerals and rocks it is helpful. in optical mineralogy it also has a remarkable work.
It's one of the Best free APP for GEOLOGY in the globe. Really smart GEOLOGY, Very helpful for GEOLOGY Expectors. Thank you...ππππβΊοΈ
It helps a lot π and you can easily find whatever you want, very informative
This is the best app I have ever used on geology dictionary ...I wish i saw this earlier, so accurate.
It's informative, but for newbies like me, I don't understand all the definitions in the selections, so trying to hand identify is useless. Further, the included dictionary is cursory. So for example, when asked about cleavage and given numbers, it would be helpful if either in the identifier or in the dictionary, it explained the numbering system. It's more for people who have way more knowledge than people who are new to geology. But the list of minerals is top notch and I've learned a lot.
