I have had many of the same problems as other users while using this app: Google Play opening instead of controlling the already open Spotify, and controls being very delayed. I was able to get the app to recognise and control Spotify by enabling the "Customised" settings for both the Music and Idle modes. I also switched "Last used music player" to Spotify explicitly. The single press (pause/play) and double press (skip) work most of the time, but the triple tap doesn't work at all.
This app doesn't work on Android 10. It's requesting a permission that doesn't exist and doesn't acknowledge any button presses (probably due to the unknown permission). Since the last time the app was updated was in March of 19, I'm guessing this is another case of abandonware. Seems to me that if they're going to advertise on the box that it has certain functions on Android devices that they should keep the app necessary for those functions up-to-date and working. How disappointing, Sony.
The customised controls do not work. If I turn them off it opens google play not Samsung Music. I want double-tap and triple-tap to increase and decrease volume when idle and triple-tap to increase when music is playing. Play/pause doesnt work when it is on customised even though I didn't change it. This app could be very useful, but it doesn't work, fix it and I will rate higher.
For whatever reason, my phone has been spazzing out lately when I plug in an aux cord, so I've been searching all over for an app to disable headset controls. I found this app which customizes what the buttons do, and I instead set all of them to have no action. This is exactly what I needed, fantastic app, simple and effective.
This app used to work great. Unfortunately with Android 8, it creates an insane amount of lag when playing music though my headphones to the point the phone is unusable when headphones are plugged in. The same headphones and this app work fine in an older phone running Android 7. Uninstalled and performance is back to normal. It appears the app is no longer being maintained so I'm stuck without headphone controls anymore.
It used to work pretty well. I upgraded it today and now the smart key icon in my phone won't disappear even if I've had unplugged my headphones. And you can't swipe it away, you have to restrict the notifications in order to not show in the panel. Hope you can fix this problem, then I'll give 5 stars again.
My sony earbuds are supposed to pause/play music with one push, skip forward with two, and go back with three pushes. The earbuds do stop the music with this app uninstalled, but the second I install and try to use this app the button will only work with the voice assistant. Also I have it set up to where one push should open the most recent song player, Spotify for me, but it opens Google music which I have never used. Garbage app.
I have a Sony Xperia XZ Premium. I'm constantly reminded about software updates that I "need" to install. They update the phone, but accessories which came with the phone become outdated, ie, earbuds. When used with the Smart Key a brilliant mechanism was created - everything done at the flick of a switch: calls answered, music played, volume adjusted within phone calls & music. None of it works now. If nothing improves from this update, I'll be making a complaint to Sony about their updates.
It does work but only with players that support the used API fully (Google Play Music & Sony Music), for just about everything else it brakes what ever functionality you had before installing it. About battery drain complains I don't know as I won't be sticking around to find out.
This is worse than default button actions. Before I installed Smart Key, the button would play/pause in the Pandora app. After I installed Smart Key, I press the button in Pandora app and the phone launches Google Play Music. Settings in Smart Key seem to have no effect. Uninstalled.
Oneplus 6T user here. Using MDR-EX650AP headphones. App doesn't work for me at all. The button doesn't do anything when the app is installed. Without the app I'm able to can answer/hang up calls, play/pause and skip to next song with a double press. Maybe it's afflicted by the Oneplus earphone dongle?
Works only well with Google Play Music. Idle time settings is not opening previously used music app, always opening the Google Play app. And, command is not in the active music Play app for switching the songs, when we click for next in other music apps, song will be played in Google Play.
I bought Sony headphones MDR-EX15AP and downloaded this app as per the operating instructions in the package. App is just a frozen page that looks like a screenshot but doesnt have any functional use apparently to even connect these to my Samsung S8+ phone. Guess I'll be uninstalling and getting my money refunded for these. Was a waste of time... thanks Sony.
Doesn't actually work. I got sony headphones which said to download this app to enable the multifunction button. I can only use voice command with it. When I uninstalled the app I could pause/unpause music but that's it. Useless app. Atleast the sound is good.
Does not work at all on my xperia XZ2 however i beleive this could be due to needing a USB c-type adapter to plug the earphones in to the phone. It could be due to the adapters lack of functionality as it wasnt designed for this purpose however the app still does not work on my phone at all
custimization of buttons does not work in other apps. Every time i press the button a single time it opens google play music. No othe button press combinations work as assigned either. Would give zero stars if i could. I use a pixel 2 XL running current android 9.
This app does not work the way want. The app looks simple but doesn't work in a simpler way. Wasted almost a day trying to configure my new sony earphone. Please create a better version of it.
Utterly useless - I installed it and all the smart functions of my headphone button stopped! The app when opened just shows a blank screen. U installed immediately & all returned to normal thankfully.
Installed and deleted two minutes later. Tried to skip through songs on my Spotify but it kept jumping to my Google Play Music songs. I think I'll do just fine without this rubbish.
I downloaded this app because my headset button was faulty. After one and a half minutes, the app and the notification bar shuts off on itself and interrupts while I'm listening to music.
In order to get sync with my headset, they asked me to install this app. But this app never has a connection to your headphone. Waste Installing and waste buying a sony headphones which has a sync with it.
What on earth.. 14% of my day's battery life (second on the list) was this app... I haven't even had earphones with a button plugged in. Something has gone wrong with the app Sony
Never opened this app and don't remember installing it. For some unknown reason, it drained my full battery 26% last night. I did not have any headphones connected to device. Uninstalling.
The app is absolutely unnecessary. I thought there would be a way to increase and lower the volume. The headphones work the same with and without the app.
I had known about foreword and backward system before installation of this app. But i was wanting to access its volume up and down feature thats why i installed it but it's not working. It seems waste of use.
Big FaCtS useful for Whelan lying in bed listening to music and you accidentally push the button, this app can stop it. 10/10 would reccomend.
Had problems with my earbud controls going off when I wasn't touching them. This solved my problem for a while by disabling voice controls and the pause button. But today my volume controls, which usually don't even do anything, went off without me touching them. And then I realized this app has no option to disable the volume buttons. So it's only getting half of the job done. I'd also like it if the app didn't display a notification at all times by default.
