Smart Lens - Text Scanner OCR

In 'Settings' select 'Always use Offline Detector' otherwise this app gives an error message: "Server error (or extremely busy)! Switched to Offine Mode". So... this app can't be updated online. Nevertheless, if used offline this app recognises scanned text perfectly and translates them perfectly to any language. The interface is very easy. Just one touch on the first screen and a picture is made. The text is recognised instantly. If you wish to translate then the 'Google Translate' button is just below the picture. Touch it and your text is instantly translated. A child can do it! I give three stars because the online mode doesn't work. While many people complain for many months about this problem the creators of this app don't seem to care to solve this problem.

The app is so good , and I like the accuracy , it's not a 100% but it's tolerable ,, I would like to have the ability to use the OCR on several photos at a time , this is the only feature that is missing and what prevents me from rating it with 5 stars , even if batch conversation would take more time to be processed I Don't mind it , because it would just save so much time and effort .. Hopefully the developer implements it in the future ...

Was great, stopped working. Before, it was super, scanned in a few seconds and produced very accurate text. Great for reading foreign text and looking up words. But now, it always says "Server busy" and does not scan individual words, the scan is just a jumble of meaningless character. The developer does not respond. What happened? Please respond! I would have given it 4 or 5 stars before!

Works well. Really well. Changed my mind: This is almost perfect as is. Never mind: my other suggested enhancements would not have been. I get it now. Only possible improvement I can think of is, maybe, let the user select order that the editing functions are listed. That would be fantastic. But this works like magic. I love it and use it a lot. It makes a big, positive, difference. Thank You

Disappointing. The potential for this app was infinite but unless you are willing to pay $10+ for the pro version then it's basically useless. However TEXT SCANNER is overall the exact same application and provides all of the features while allowing unlimited uses. Unless you wanna pay $10 for the premium features (now knowing there are comparable applications that provide them for free) then don't waste ur time.

Did its job perfectly. almost paid for it. anything less then $5 would have been an instant sale. not sure if I can deem the cost though. will just have to see if that huge ad banner anoys me enough to look for another app before I buy it. Based on looks and feel there probably isn't alot of quality compatition. thumbs up for quality. but down for pricing.

Again the very same problem just like with the other text to scan app..This app can scan vertically but it can't do the same effectively while scanning a horizontal one. It can scan but the output is jumbled sentences from one paragraph to other. So far only Textfairy app does the job very neatly. All others are not up to the mark.

No accompanying tutorials, nor built-in guidance for blind/vision impaired users! What's the point of having an option for changing orientation when I don't even know what it's currently set to? Then when I try to read or look for recognised text, I have no idea where it is, instead I'm hounded by pesky ads!

the best application, This is very useful app. But 1 thing should be improve when we need to convert any pdf file in to the text format, it's prosses is very long. After scanning 1 page when we press back button twice it starts working from first step we have to open it again then need to follow every step and again and again, it not only take too much time but also frustate the user. Kindly look at my point, thanks.

It is extremely useful app with lot of flaxibility and application. It is perhaps best OCR tool for Sanskrit and Hindi, which had been missing so far. It even works for screens of other mobile sets. Note making is very convenient. Even a child can operate it for professional results. I like it for it being a simple , easy and perfect tool for OCR function. Hope some day Handwriting recognition may be possible on this very app.

Very exhaustive list of functions! It wasn't hard to use them though : they're executed by different gestures. Quitte intuitive to assimilate them. And the process is quick, contrary to another app that made me go through three taps just to copy to clipboard.

This reader is the best of eight I tried! The words selector is very good, but needs a way of selecting words starting in the first column of an article, and ending in the second. Can't take docs from my phone's gallery for some reason. Otherwise, excellent reader options.

Finally found a good one, meaning one that (a) is straightforward, (b) does a good job with the actual OCR  ( ⁠they're 𝑛𝑜𝑡 all equal in that respect ⁠), and (c) doesn't litter my directory structure with more folders. As to point (b), I installed a few OCR apps and ran them on the 𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐞 text-containing image, then compared the results. The only complaint I have with this app is a minor one᎓  it could use a setting that makes it open directly to 'images', rather than to 'camera'.

This program still improvement, in specific to the detection of Chinese Traditional characters written in vertical (read from top to bottom and from right to left). There are some errors that need me to correct every time I scan an article.

best app of its kind but i wish there's also a feature of it which can identify and copy columns and tables for the results to be more organized. that's all I just want the results to be more organized just like what it is scanning. Thank you!!!

I enjoy the functionality of this app; my only complaint is that for some reason if i leave the app and come back to it later the app does not work properly. The shutter button almost completely disappears. My only solution is to restart the app.

One major complaint is that if you do an OCR scan, then you split your screen in two, the data gets lost, which is especially bad for the free version, since you get just 4 daily pages. They used to be 10 about 3 months ago.

Free version allows only 3 scans per day. However, can continue in off-line mode. After a closer look, bought the pro version. Works well but is clumsy in some areas and can do with some added improvements. Can provide details but only if dev wants to know.

Its was really good at finding words, but have a bit of trouble with numbers. Overall really good app for scanning text on paper. The others were pretty compared to this. I definitely like using this app.

Incredibly useless for Thai language. Instead of copy and pasting original Thai characters, it romanizes the entire word! You cannot translate Uawauuuaaalla into Google translations. Google only recognizes original language. Not what the word sounds like with Roman characters. I wish i tested it first before paying $10 for the useless pro-version. It's too late for me to get Google refund.

Never thought I would find an app so good at what it does!!. It copies text exactly the way it is with the punctuations and the brackets.. every single thing. It's crazy good.. I just hope you guys don't get ahead of yourselves and mess this up in future updates cuz I will be here once again to give it 1 star rating if anything ever goes wrong.

Absolutely from a zóom X 5 in dàrk room it successfully completed whatever section of txt from an tv screeñ. I tried to beat it but the appearance worked faultlessly to reàd all sizes of texts avàilable on Panasonic HDTV 80cm. Either way I look at it and purely as an OCR reader it would be a great buy. Unfortunately theré isn't a free version for home use as should be the case aloñg the entire gplay store.

It's better and has high accuracy.its scanning the text but missing the words in between and unable to select them.and iam unable to select many languages.but to scan a maximum clarity text image it should be offline but this works only online well.i like the line scanning but it is 3scans per day,says buy pro.offline detertor is not well,unable to select missing words can't detect maths regular symbol.tried it online it said server busy, for handwritten text it's worse. u want to earn money 👍

I started with it and it worked wonderfully, but now (I'm not sure if it's from the update) it keeps stating "no text found" or to change the preferred language, which I did but it still doesn't scan a page with a Japanese sentence on it. any idea what's wrong?

Smart lens pro is really excellent i have take the monthly subscription it works amazingly. I really loved much better compared with other OCR app. Thanks to the developers and the team. I am thinking to take permanent subscription but the price is bit high i request the developer and company to kindly give us offer.

Difficult to eliminate things like bar codes. kept reading them as text. Otherwise no mistakes though. Free version only allows 5 text conversions / day. Difficult to evaluate. Price to buy $10 or rent $1.50/month too high.

It is a fantastic app for visually impaired people like me. It reads the text in a picture with absolute precision. Kudos to the developer. Hoping to get something additional features in the times to come.
