I used to have this app on my old LG phone. It worked perfectly. Then my brother uninstalled it for no reason. When I installed it on my new phone, it was worse then I thought. I tried controlling R2-D2, and when I let him go forward, he stands there for 2 seconds then moves. When I last had the app it was shorter and perfect! Now it is just wrong. Sometimes when I do a mission, he doesn't usually communicate! Come on Hasbro! You seriously need to update this app
I would give it 0 stars if that were an option. I'm so incredibly frustrated with this product. Apparently, I was scammed and bought it on Amazon. Nowhere on the description did it say the app was outdated! I never would've bought it. I bought this for my son's 14th birthday because he is a huge star wars fan. I've tried 3 different devices (a galaxy s10, the note 8- which is pretty old by now, and an older tablet from Samsung). Don't make a product like this if you don't plan on updating.
Hi I'm trying to reconnect my R2. Some of the function like turn left or right doesn't seem to work even if I've have change fresh batteries for the toy. Forward works and reverse works sometimes. Will appreciate if there's any updates on the software.
I was given this for Christmas and my excited quickly turned to complete disappointed when I found out not only that it wouldn't connect to Bluetooth but judging by the reviews, the lack of updates and what phones it connects to, it's just going to be sat there doing nothing now.
App does not work on devices that are updated to the latest version of Android. So given that this toy was expressly purchased for a 6 year old boy to use the remote control function means that it is essentially broken? Enjoy a tantrum? No I do not. I'll need to return the unit to where I bought it if this isn't corrected soon and get something else that does work. Support your products!
This app works with older versions of Android, tried numerous times on my Samsung A70 with latest firmware to no avail. Then downloaded it on my Samsung A10.1 (2016) and worked first time. Developers haven't updated this app for some time, hence the issue(s) of not pairing together.
Worked with my old Samsung s9, upgraded my phone and my son can no longer use the robot. He has 2 different kindles and it's not supported on those either. Loved it while we could use it. It would be nice if they would update the app to work with newer phone.
I couldn't get the bluetooth to connect with my Galaxy S10 Plus. I read some reviews and many people said it works on older phones but not new ones. So I pulled out my Note 5 and it connected right away. It's a fun toy but you'll need an older phone for it.
Outdated app. Used to have on my old phone, now I have a new exact same phone (Samsung a50) and it not longer works because it hasnt been updated. Very disappointing. My kids were heartbroken. Please update this app. It barely worked in the first place, but at least they had fun trying to make it work before. So sad. :(
What's the best way for me to stay in the polite part of my vocabularies? To not state anything else after I sum up the disappointing experience this coulda-woulda-shoulda been a lot of fun if it wasn't made by the laziest programmers I've had the misfortune of being forced to know about the existence of, bar none, at five years & counting... I wish I didn't put out so much funding just to find out they don't bother keeping their app updated to the point it can communicate with any newer phones!
I can see some potential, but the app refuses to connect to r2, even though my bluetooth is connected to it! And r2 its self wont stop moving about on its own while im trying to connect.
Price dropped 75% so got one.. toy's build in mode functions well but number of commands not fully functioning through mobile phone when it designed to run at a time. But still interesting toy can't deny. :) How nice if manufacturer update SW as final but seems like the company is gone away. (Web site returns error) If you are looking for fully functioning toy then avoid this..
Like every other toy that requires an app, they stop supporting it and the toy becomes a junky hunk of plastic. This one was fun while it lasted but an Android update hobbled it and they've made no effort to provide an update. Truly disappointing. No more toys that use an app!
Fun app, but it will not support multiple functions on the same line while 'programing'. Very frustrating. I did not have the connection issues other users are experiencing.
Really guys? You haven't updated since 2016? I completely expected the app to stop working at some point, but not while you're still selling the thing all over and even advertising it on your Hasbro website. The worst! This is why I don't buy bluetooth app controlled devices. Good job, you've lost someone who's been a customer since childhood.
App no longer functions, rendering the rather expensive toy either a continuous source of noise or a large figurine. It makes a nice decoration, but is otherwise useless now, because of this app.
This use to be fun to play with my kids. Now, I can not connect with it because my phone is a newer android model and it can only operate with a older version! Really disappointing! My kids are heart broken because they can't play with their favorite droid!!
Can't use the remote function since the app hasn't been updated since 2016! It doesn't work with newer phones. At least Artoo is still cute.
I have a Samsung S10 and although I can see the device listed in my Bluetooth devices AND I can pair with it, the app refuses to connect. Needless to say, my 6 year old is devastated.
It was fun in the past but my new phone will not connect at all. (To devs and Hasbro, can you please make Smart R2D2 accessable for new gen phones. Thank you in advance.)
Went to play with this tonight and it says that because your phone is newer it no longer works with the toy, well done to the manufacturer for not updating the app, do they think people have money to throw away on this stuff, lesson learnt, don't buy anything that runs from an app off the internet because in time it will be useless.
No longer connects to the toy with newer Android OS. Really sad this happened. What a waste of money.
App hasn't been updated since 2016 and it no longer connects via Bluetooth to R2D2
app is not up to date phone can connect to r2 but app will not even though phone is connected through Bluetooth
Had my r2d2 for like 2 maybe 3 years and love it but got an upgrade and now i cant connect to it and its a huge bummer bc its so fun and now i cant play with it accept little things
After for quite sometime now my phone can no longer pair with the droid. I didn't delete this app at all jus disappointed that it suddenly stop pairing & now i can only play with it on it's own & can't control it any longer on the apps
App only works with older phones. They never updated the app. Can't use the toy at all if the app doesn't connect. R2d2 won't even turn on without the app.
There's nothing wrong with this droid's motivator. As of Tuesday, April 12, 2022, I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S8. It took a while, but I think I figured out how to properly connect R2. I used the Smart R2-D2 app to find/connect to him via bluetooth. The controls worked fine (albeit a bit laggy), but R2 is a fun little toy. I'm glad I took a chance on this little droid, and I hope R2 can lead me on some great adventures!
