They have the worse custumer service,its impossible to get intouch with custumer service..looks like no body work at this company i have choose another company life star much better
Ever since the update it won't take my picture to let me test tech support couldn't help me and I don't know how to get it to work I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it I have tried to force stop the app I've tried to turn my phone off and back on and it just doesn't work
Can't even make a payment on this "app" even though I've been told I need to use it to make a payment. Seriously? Clicked on "make payments" and it brought me to a screen where it said either...."delete payment method" or "start new payment method" even though my card info was already on there. Total effing scam. Called the number and got bounced around for awhile til I finally was able to talk to someone and they took my payment. How hard can it possibly be to take someone's money....seriously
Worst experience. This company lies and takes advantage of people going through a difficult situation. Their customer service is abysmal. And they deduct money from your bank account without authorization for any amount they choose. And if it is their error me.... They refuse to return your money and say you have a credit on your account. Hidden fees are insane. I ended up paying 4x the amount they quoted. Please choose another interlock company if possible.
This app and connection to the device not good at all. How the law is using your app is unfathomable. App will lose connection or the device will lose the connection just rediculous. My device was out of the box and for the first week and a half it would take me fifteen minutes to finally get the test done. I was not aware that there is customer service or helpline to call but regardless I can not imagine how they would be of assistance in making the app and device connect over the phone.
You think the business is bad... has anyone cared to look at what permissions this app requires? It can take pictures, record video, control your microphone, access and download files, etc. ALL without your knowledge. ... HA... not a chance smart start, as if it's not crooked enough. C'mon!! SMH
This app and company are a joke. You can get right through to a live person if you're a new client, but existing customers sit on hold for hours. No way to contact anyone whatsoever, not good if you're in an emergency or locked out. They could care less about there customers. Then on top of that, throw in a couple false positives for absolutely no reason while you're driving and lights start flashing and horn blowing almost causing an accident because it startled the living heel out of me.
Horrible customer service. Waited forever on the phone to get a rep. All I wanted was for the dopes at smart start to put the correct phone number in for my monitoring court. Of course you can't do that in the app. When I finally got a snotty lady on the phone she ignored my request and insisted on trying to force me to spend more money on a camera install even though I told her the judge didn't require it. She was horribly trained and completely unhelpful. Try a competitor if you can.
Excellent app, wish I had it for the previous year and a half. Interface is easy and simple. Would definitely recommend, even just for records and reminders of payments.
Easy app to use. I like that it has the option to pay my bill, see past payments, and set up autopay. It shows me my next service date and next payment due date.
This isn't right. I have two violations from not hearing the beep. I am not drinking and if I get one more violation apparently it's another year of having interlock. It's not even about not drinking and driving it's about getting your money. I don't recommend this company whatsoever.
Customer service is useless. Charged me an extra month. Unprofessional install technicians. It is what you expect, total for profit business taking advantage of people with no options. Needs to be reviewed by the state government.
This app is a scam. The company and the app are completely different. I payed 150 for the month and they told me it wasn't valid I had to pay another 150 again at the shop . I tried to get credit or my money back and they're making me fill out forms and wait 10 to 15 business days for a reply. Do not install !!!!!!
The device is easy to use and has never frozen on me. I chose smart start because they were the only company in my area (San Fernando valley) that were able to install the device on a Chevrolet volt. I would recommend this company if you drive a hybrid with push start.
I was on hold for an hr yesterday and no one ever picked up while I sat in my vehicle and I've been on hold for a half hr so far today. Just trying to troubleshoot my vehicle so I can get it taken care of but now I've missed my son's Dr appointment and now going to miss his swim class today. This is so frustrating. The app doesn't help me.

Best Ignition Interlock Device. Ive Only Had 1 With The Intent Of Not Having To Get Another One But This One Was Such A Breeze. So Easy To Use And Very Reliable As Far As Sound And Reminders Of Apppintments. Never Had To Struggle With Cords. I Have Recommended This Company To Others In My DUI Classes And Would Highly Recommend This Device To Anyone Who Must Get A Device Installed. Smart Start Is The Company To Rely On.
Beware folks all these negative reviews are true. Even if you phone smart start the hours of their so called hours of operation you can not get anyone to talk to, you only get put in hold forever and ever or you get a voicemail, and you do as they ask, and they never call you back as they say they will. And the client portal is absolutely no help when needed either
Well when I have to go through the whole process 3 or 4 times before it works the way it is supposed to it's dumb.

No customer service, no way to find out when I need to get calibrated or when I need to make my next payment, I don't even know how to make my next payment and can't figure out how to find out. It's sad that companies like these are state-approved

I hate everything about Smart Start. When you call any of their provided contact numbers, it is nearly impossible to get a live representative on the phone. I thought downloading the client portal would be easier, but I cannot even register for an account. When I open the app and follow the prompts, it sends a registration link to my email. As soon as I click the link it says that the link is expired. I have been going in circles and my only other option is to call and get no real person to help
