Was working really well about a week ago. I was so happy with the results. But then it just stopped working. It won't conmect to my TV no matter what. I tried disconnecting both devices from wifi and reconnecting them again, it didn't work. I tried deleting the remote and scanning for the TV again, still didn't work. Then I tried uninstalling the app and downloading it again, it still won't work. Why is this happening? Please fix this. Thanks.
I tried about 5 other TV remote apps after my dog chewed mine. I can say without a doubt that this is by far the best one I've used. It's even better than my original remote. connect to your TV effortlessly by selecting it when prompted(it was the only option)and entering the pin that immediately showed up on screen, instead of lists of codes to try. it has everything I need and more(Netflix button) but the very best thing is how well the app performs. it's lightning fast and convenient to use.
There's no option to get rid of any ads in the app...total waste of time even if the UI looks good. BTW, I don't know why they say that you can't turn your TV on? If you have the power-on option in your TV settings, then you should install LG WebOS Magic Remote and you will be able to do so after adding the MAC address of your TV. Good luck!
I have an LG webos Smart TV, no cable subscription, Verizon internet service with a Linksys router. I tried three remote control apps before I got to this one and it is,... Excellent! After quick and simple install it was up and running, no glitches. Have LG phone as well and maybe this is the attribute but I would recommend anybody to try it if it's half as good as its performance for me. And my TV is already past 3 years old. Anybody out there in need - just do it- nothing to lose.
Worked well; ads made it frustrating to use. There's no option to remove ads, despite the developer's statement, and they're both pervasive and invasive. Full screen, many of them on a timer, and they pop up every time you open the app or turn your phone back on. I'd pay for an ad-free version, but instead I've uninstalled the app. Yes, it's that bad.
So for the first 5 minutes of total time used the remote worked great. Only ads I saw were 5 second ads when first opening the remote. No big deal, for free it was fine to deal with. All of a sudden, there were multiple ads whenever you needed to switch the screen in the app. In that time we could have just gotten up and gone through the single knob to figure things out. Of I could pay for this app to remove ALL ads it would be worth it! 3 stars until then, because it actually does work.
If I leave the app and come back it doesn't connect. I have to completely close it out and come back but then it works fine again. There are ads for me every 3rd button I hit (which is a lot when turning my volume up or down). Most of them make you stay for a set time before you can go back to using the remote. This has been my go to app for a long time. I decided to go with a different one today.
Randomly disconnects and tKes FOREVER to be able to use again. It is honestly a cross your fingers and try scenario. Will not work or connect for a week and then randomly work for 3 days. It's great when it does, and is easy to navigate, but the disconnect is so frustrating.
It kind of works... hard to connect to my TV and when it does connect it takes multiple tries to select anything with the touchpad. I'll keep using the app though because it's the only one I found that kind of works. Oh, and don't even get me started on the ads. Its ridiculous. Hopefully these issues get fixed with an update or something!!
Frustrated. This app pairs right away, but crashes as soon as it is connected. I would have given 5 stars if not for the crashing. It finds and connects tv almost automatically, but we can't navigate it with the crashing. Really wanted to love this app. It has potential.
Have the same issues as everyone else who rated with 1 star. It was amazing at first and it quickly found my TV and connected perfectly for maybe half a day. Then suddenly I try using it again and it's constantly kicking me out of the app. I uninstall and reinstall. After doing this, it asks for a pin again only to kick me out as soon as I enter it. Please fix.
Im using a Samsung tablet and remote works very well, with some exceptions, the touch pad needs work, not smooth to glide on pad and the press enter action on pad sometimes needs more than few tries to execute command, few add popping up but that is expected, easy to set up, connected to my LG smart TV in 5 seconds, most features from original remote are available (what's important anyway) including volume over WiFi.👍 So far so good, will keep testing app and will update review if required.
Easy to use and readily connects to TV with wifi without me having to know any technical IT software related nonsense other than making sure it's the same wifi network on phone and TV (tip: check for 2.4&5G on the same network, where I was stuck for about 5 minutes! :P) Just withheld the last star due to the app not having an option to remove the ads that pop up which was getting on my nerve. Let me know if there is a way to remove the ads for a reasonable price of about less than $3 😝😉😆
The app is a tad buggy, but it works. The biggest downside is the advertisements. A one time fee for a premium ad free app would be nice, but is probably a pipedream. I would pay good money for it if it was an option though.
It's a very well done app. Much better than my previous lg remote apps. My only problem is with the ads. When I need to pause a show or adjust the volume immediately, having to sit through a 10 second commercial can get really annoying.
Power button turns the TV off but it does not turn it on. TicToc adds hijack my phone. I looked to see if I could pay a fee and get rid of the ads and found that they allegedly fixed that glitch, but, they did not. The option to get rid of the ads DOES NOT EXIST to spite the claims they had fixed it. It should also be noted that thisapp is up-to-date in my phone.
Pairs right away but after connecting app immediately crashes. Was working great when I first downloaded it, but recently it started crashing everytime i try to use it. App also has a lot of adds after every action theres an add, I would put up with the adds if the remote would quit crashing. The main screen for navigation also doesn't work the way it should, app doesn't respond when you click "ok" and if it does respond it clicks on the button/show next to the one you were trying to click.
When it works its good. But as soon as it stops working i have to delete the remote and try to reconnect. But lately it hasnt been connecting at all so i been having to uninstall and reinstall. Other than that it works. Does what i need it to. As long as i dont close the app or lock my phone.
Seems pretty straightforward and user friendly. I accidentally broke my remote and while I ordered another, I needed something to use in the interim, especially since the volume was low and I didn't feel like standing at the TV pushing the settings button.
The "OK" button doesn't appear to work when you use the YouTube app. It's asking me to choose a profile on launch and it doesn't click it. Also, with this being controlled over WiFi, the TV must be turned on and connected before you can use it. This means you can't power on the TV, you can only turn it off. It's useful, but it does have it's flaws. It's worth downloading though if you have lost or broken your remote control. No update since 2018? Three stars.
Doesn't connect to TV. I tried the manual option too but that didn't work either. There are no instructions for troubleshooting so I can't figure out how to debug the problem. Edit: I got it to work, but the disruptive ads make the app useless. Also, the keyboard doesn't work which makes the app no better than the official remote app from LG.
Love the app functionality but everytime you enter the app or go back to it, you will have to watch a 5 second minimum ad. Imagine trying to turn down the volume but first you must watch a 5 second minimum ad to lower the volume. I would rather pay for the app and get rid of the ads but that's not an option. Look for any universal remote apps in play store and there are plenty that will work with LG TV as well. Deleting this ad infested app now.
As with most (if not all) wifi remote apps, the user experience is terrible unless you buy the app. It plays an ad everytime you switch between functions. Every time it plays an ad, it disconnects the app from the tv.
Every time you do something on your phone or receive a notification it loses connection. Choosing reconnect rarely works, the only option is to close and restart. Not much fun if you like to Google info about the programme you are watching...
Everything works out on this app, However it would be great if you could turn the TV on by remote instead of manually turning it on. Using the power button causes the TV to repetitively turn off. That is my only issue that I have with this app.
The app would be pretty great if I could get rid of all of these ads. According to the app details in the play store, there was some kind of option added in the menu to turn off ads. I have no such option. I will update this rating once ads are removed.
Wow, this app saved me money! Thought my remote had bad batteries (Nope). Thought my remote had died (Nope). Bought three universal remotes hoping one would work (Nope). finally realized that the IR receiver on my $1000.00 LG smart TV had quit. My manufacturer warranty had recently expired. I only have one button physically on the TV, with limited functionality and was completely locked out of all inputs due to child lock setup that I could no longer access. No more PS4, no more 4K Blu-ray, no more Super Nintendo. Found this app... Problem solved, better than my original remote! Thank you so much!
The app is good, there are a few problems tho. When you hold-click a button it spams vibration like mad, also the touchpad does not feel so smooth, it is a bit clunky and is hard to click while using it (sometimes I need to hold, sometimes I need to double-click) and it always moves and makes me click a bit off. Hope next update some of this problems can be fixed.
Developers say "Added option to remove all ads for free. You can find it on the left navigation menu" in the what's new section, but they haven't. They also have the nerve to say "VERY LIMITED ADS nobody hates full-screen ads more than us" but it's PACKED with ads, not only full screen but the ones that try to trick you into clicking. Don't trust this app!
