The interface, routing, speed warnings, successfully avoids routes where my RV cannot go, and map display are all excellent. This is one of the best, if not the best (I've tested several paid apps) RV GPS apps for Android. The only difficulty I experienced was, I lost my route somehow in an area without a signal, as soon as the signal came back I was able to reroute. I have run for 30+ miles without data signal with no problems in navigation.
Took a bad review to get traction in correcting a problem with the activation of the new annual subscription. After it was thought to be resolved, it now shows the subscription expired last September. I'm getting a lot of pressure to drop the poor review, including holding back in resolving the issue. Not the greatest support. All of this could have been avoided had they not ignored my attempts to requesting help.
Just downloaded it to check out the interface. So far it seems more intuitive than CoPilot which I used all last year to navigate with my 30ft TT. Yes it does use Google Maps but when I plotted this year's first trip with it, it gave me an RV friendly route not the one that regular google maps gives. My questions to the developers would be: 1) Are there plans to integrate with Android Auto so I can get the directions on my truck's built-in display? 2) Are the maps and directions downloadable? I've not found that option yet but as RVers know, we are often in areas with no internet coverage.
App was working fine, then stopped. I spent the $50 for routing 3 months ago, now can't use it. Support is terrible! Sent me a link that doesn't work. They advertise an 800 number but it's disconnected & now they're ignoring emails. Don't spend any $$ here! UPDATE: Vendor did contact me & the issue has been resolved. UPDATE 2: I've now had a chance to use this newer version & while not perfect it does provide a great alternative to Google maps for RV'rs.
Paid for a year and this app was a life saver, directed us on a route that we could drive carefree. I also use waze with it to update road conditions and other issues with the road ahead that was not on this app. The multiple routes it gives you are great, so you can choose the way you prefer. It was worth paying for it and seemed to better then the trucker apps I was looking at.
Tech support is rapid, very helpful, and patient with a new user. I mapped a route to a park we have previously visited. The route near the park has many hazards which Google Maps did not flag. SmartRVRoute showed the necessary route, thus avoiding all the problems.
We used this app for a long trip to the Midwest. On multiple occasions it was delayed in updating causing us to mis turns leading us to go through multiple turns to get back on track. It also routed us through a path that is not RV friendly (I.E. over a lrg hill w/ sharp hair-pin, blind turns, etc.). Luckily we knew that and avoided that part and made it reroute us properly. Had we taken that route we would've blocked traffic and even could've caused a major accident on the blind hair-pin turns.
Just subscribed for one month, after 48 hours, decided to go ahead and take the yearly route. While I was attempting to do that, the phone call dropped. I was speaking with Karen, who actually Called. Me. Back! Her customer service is exceptional and so far I have been really satisfied with the app, as well.
LOVE this app! Best one we've found. Excellent interface and extremely accurate. Really appreciate being able to see the weather along our route too..Great job developers..this ones a 5 star! We can definitely recommend SmartRVRoute 2 RV Navigation! Thank you!
I really wanted to try this out. It seems like it may be useful. If I was given the opportunity to use it once or twice before purchasing I would have gladly spent money on it, well if it met my needs. Since I dont know if it will do what I want and I cant fully test it I feel my best option is to keep looking. I feel I wasted my time here. It was disturbing to take the time to set everything up then see a screen pop up and say pay $20 plus try it. $1 for 1 day or 1 use would be acceptable. Thx.
I set a route from home in ct to Florida. towing my 34 foot travel trailer. had . . I tried this ap several times and I found many mistakes. I went off route by maybe 2000 feet and the AP couldn't find were I was. I tried resetting my phone didnt work. my wife's gps and my trucks on board gps was active at this time. I am getting my $20 dollars back for this bad purchase. a one month subscription!!!!
I've been using this app for almost 2 years. It still has some minor bugs and needs some features but all in all it works. I have always gotten a response from support when I've asked questions. Looking forward to the next update.
Paid for 1 month and love it. Have not seen issue with routes that put me on parkways or low bridge. This app is better then Garmin GPS when it comes to RV routing. Routes have option for hazmat. I have gas tank and cannot go into tunnels.
Not ready for prime time...too many issues. Had me take wrong lanes several times, worst was GA into TN..advised me to take 2 left lanes...huge bottleneck in right two lanes so I was happy until signs said the opposite. Was not easy to maneuver 30 foot rv into stopped traffic. Other issues when I left rest area and was picking up speed to merge, it always told me "warning..exceeding speed limit". Good idea but needs work...I'm back to Google maps.
Terrible and potentially dangerous. I have the truck route app installed and found the rv navigation. A 40' motor home towing a car on a dolly cannot go on a parkway here in NY. Had I followed the directions I first would have been breaking at least 3 or 4 laws then I would have been in serious trouble with a low underpass. It was 11'6 and I have.the app set for 12'6 how can these things happen? I recommend this company remove this app before someone is seriously injured or fined.
I would buy the pro version but I don't like traveling interstate any more then I have to. I'm retired and don't feel safe going 75 and 85 mile per hour down the freeway. Point being this app will not let me set to stay off the freeway mode. Other then that, I've Enjoyed the two day trial.
Hey I'm trying to find out why my smartrvroute app is not working, hasn't in months. It's version 1 and there is no way to reach anyone through the dpp, just a bunch of pre-nswered questions through the help menu. I paid a lot of money for that subscription, now it just sits there searching for a route. What's the deal?
Has some nice features (high wind alerts) but routing us through a downtown (with u "U") when there's a bypass is stupid. App is gone.
completely disappointed, i never pay for apps but i figured lets be safe, because i am taking my family of 7 on a 3 thousand mile road trip in a class A motorhome. The time distances that are being calculated are always wrong. thank god i read the street sign between Yosemite and Yellowstone because the app told me to take this road but the sign said no vehicles over 22 feet (my class A is 31) because of whindy roads and cliffs with no turn around. makes you take long ways around while better opt
I texted and emailed and still got no answers,i got a new phone and they cancelled my subscription even though i still had at least 6mos left.want me to start a new subscription.i wont use this app again
Very helpful team. I have semi and RV and have both app. The team is very helpful and routes are always right. Good job!
Use this app on my vacations for over 3 years. No issues. Much better option then anything else on the market. Restrictions for RV are all there. No parkways and no low bridges.
Very reliable. Did not have to buy special GPS for $400. Traffic and satellite views nicely showing me rest areas and camp sites.
I just downloaded on trail basis, first route was fine, question though, can this be linked through Android auto so it plays on my full touch screen in my truck instead of viewing on my phone? Thx
This is by far better version for RV navigation than Garmin. I also drive truck and this app for RV much better than Garmin. Smarteveoute gives better routes
Gives dangerous directions for an RV. Tried to route me onto cattle trails in NM. Sounds fun in a UTV, but not so in a 35' 17000lb RV. All of the RV dimensions/weights HAVE been entered into the app.
Life saver. Did not need to buy 400 dollar rand that does not have even satellite map or traffic. So far in my travel no parkways or low bridges or tunnels not acceptable for hazmat.
Navigates me across a bridge closed for repairs. It shows an alert that the bridge is closed for repairs. Yet fails to show me a route to get around it.
Used on my last vacation. Performed as expected. When I retire instead of 1 month will purchase 3 years. Tried Rand. Did not like it.
Downloaded to see the best option to get off Long Island in NY. Glad I tested it out before I paid. Told me to get on the parkways towing a camper. This is a big no no. Low bridges and illegal. Will be deleting faster than I downloaded.
