This is the app that science built. Proven techniques to help you stop smoking are delivered in a beautifully clear and very human way. The calculator tells you how much money you've saved and how many cigarettes you've not smoked, the calendar tells you how long you’ve been smoke free and how much life you've regained, bars show you how giving up smoking is improving your health, and a diary shows how your cravings for cigarettes are decreasing over time. Plus filling it out seems to help, even if you only use it to vent.

Filling it out also helps us, because this is the app that science is building. If you give us permission, we’ll use the information you give us to learn how to help even more people stop smoking. As you know, quitting smoking is hard. But tens of thousands of people do it successfully each month (especially if that month is Stoptober). We want to know more about what works and what doesn’t and your data can help future quitters quit.

The quit processHere’s what we know so far. The science is pretty clear that nicotine replacement therapy helps people stop smoking. But it needs to be taken as directed (many people don’t complete the course) and that means it’s best if you get it from your doctor rather than the pharmacist. But don’t worry if you don’t want to use NRT, this is your quit, you do what works for you. The other golden rule about giving up smoking is to make your mantra ‘not one more puff’. Because one puff almost always leads to more and you’re soon back smoking again. It doesn’t seem to matter how much confidence you’ve got about quitting and nor does it matter if you plan your quit ahead or quit or the spur of the moment. The social support you get from programs such as Stoptober are helpful but what really seems important is getting a real understanding of how much progress you’ve made, all the benefits you gain from giving up smoking and all that you’d have to lose by starting smoking again. Giving you that is the core way this app hopes to keep you smoke free.

Electronic cigarettesE-cigs seem to help lots of people stop smoking. The ones that look like cigarettes seem less effective than ones you get from specialist vape shops. They also seem pretty safe, much safer than smoking cigarettes. However, we don’t have much long-term evidence so it’s probably best to use them as a way to stop smoking, rather than a replacement for cigs.

The experimentWe’re running an on-going experiment that tests different things to help people give up smoking. Everyone gets all the features mentioned above, the calculator that shows how many cigarettes you've not smoked, the calendar that tells you how long you’ve been smoke free, the bars that show how your health has improved from giving up smoking.

Some people will get additional features. We can’t tell you what they are, partly because it might invalidate the experiment, partly because they change frequently. Don’t feel you’re missing out though. We don’t know if these things will help people stop smoking, we just want to learn whether they do. Don’t worry that they’ll want to make you smoke more either. We would never try anything we thought might make people more likely to smoke.

This is all entirely voluntary and you can use the app fully without taking part in the experiment. Your data will be kept anonymous and you can delete it at any time. But we really hope you take part because everyone who does will help the quitters who follow. So do yourself a favour by stopping smoking. And do your fellow smokers a favour by helping them understand how it’s done.

I have tri d to quit about 100 times over the years, using all kinds of support systems, none of them lasted. Usi g this application in conjunction with some smoking cessation aids has led me to be smoke free for 18 months. I can feel that this time is the one that will stick. The app helped me think about smoking and my relationship with it. The challenges laid out were really helpful and made me face the addiction and work through it, rather than let it happen to me. Thanks so much!

Absolutely, positively helping me quit smoking. I've been smoking a pack a day for 30 years. With the help of a strong desire to quit and be healthier, NRT (patches and lozenges) and this app, I have just crossed the 1 week mark and really appreciate this app for motivation, information and support. Great app, team, and thank you!!!

Great concept but a few flaws, specifically with the chat bot. One, it doesnt recognise lethargy or tiredness as a symptom of quitting. Two, if you try to tell it either of these under withdrawal symptoms in the toolkit it crashes until you press toolkit again...I've only been using this app 5 minutes and already I'm unimpressed

I stopped smoking using champix but needed the additional support. This really helped me and i continue to refer back to it to remind myself how far ive come. Im nearly one year smoke-free. I used the free part of the app and found that this was perfect. I also joined the face book support group recommended by this app.

This app was great, when I first gave up smoking for the first time! It was free. Now I want to give it up again, so started entering information again, get to end of entering and find out not free. Not expensive but don't like handling credit card details out. So following unsubscribe details 1. Go to Playstore and cancel through settings! Only thing I see is uninstall, hope it works!

Super and very helpful app. Just one thing though. Would be great if some relevance between 'Number of years smoked' and ''Health improvement' metrics can be built. Would really help to understand the pace of health metrics improving based on the length one has been a smoker.

Love this app. After a few months after using it free I upgraded for 5.00 and it was worth it. I'm now 14 months smoke free. Definitely work the upgrade.

Found this app really helpful as a go to to help manage cravings and see my progress. I have tried to give up smoking on numerous occasions but failed until I used this app

Good app, with customizable settings. The only thing missing is a community/friends accountability aspect. I have several friends who are using the app as well and it would be so awesome to be be able to support one another on there.

Love this app, wish they would add more things that you can watch improving as there is a huge time space between the last few, there must be more things happen that you can see improving to keep you motivated.

This is, at least for me, as good as it gets to have someone there helping you get through the worst. Yeah, you can call friends, and rely on your partner, but they aren't always available, sometimes you are by yourself, and having this tool fills in those moments.

Only app I ever paid for. Can't put a price on health. Or actually, thanks to this app I can. Health gains me +10k per year

Really helps when I want a smoke to look at the money I've saved and health goals I've achieved. Highly recommend this app!

nice app to help you quit smoking. I would recommend if it would have some more advices and awareness about hypothyroidism when quitting smoking! other small downside I found was that was missing a "progressive" quitting option.

It's helpful having other people, just like you, that you do no know, in your corner. It's helpful to have a place to start writing about a craving while it passes. It's helpful to have a place to view your daily success. Most of all, it's helpful to have a place to be understood and to feel like your helping orhers....no judging, no unrealistic expectations.

Sign up was easy, and the tools seem to be nice. I just wish there was a setting to switch this to vaping. I go through 1 bottle of nic salts per week. I didn't know how to equate that to a number of cigs in a day/how many are in a pack. Also, things like reduced bad breath, etc. don't pertain.

I really like this app and it has always been the best, been using it since 2018 and had also purchased the lifetime access. However, I opened the app after a while and to my surprise it's again asking me to purchase. Not sure what's the problem. Please fix it.

The daily reminder to fill in your diary and your health progress was helpful for me !

Thanks for the help! I'm four weeks smoke free. The app works because it gives you a focus each day; I strongly recommend the paid version as it gives you more help and things to do and it's very cheap (not a subscription, which is great!) The functionality is great. My only request would be on the homepage to do something a bit more visual with the cravings and 'save up for something special' sections. The best part of the homepage are the changes and improvements you see in each section!
