I am able to keep a nice collection of all my meaningful memories and share easily. I would like to see the option of adding soundtrack background music made available.
I've been using smugmug and their app for years professionaly. I love it, works well, and has super intuitive features. As well as having a super good looking aesthetic.
Unbelievably safe storage with no ads and best prints I've ever ordered. I am not a professional photographer but love this app!!
Well it was working fine. Now the app says 'this content is no longer availabe' then closes out.. I can't access anythi in the app anymore?!? Umm no good...
App when running on my Android 6.0 tablet very often, when browsing photos full screen, is not loading photo at all with error "We're sorry, we couldn't download that photo. Please try again." On top of that some photos are rendered in low resolution (blurry) which indicates that it's a thumbnail only, and full resolution version was not loaded. Very frustrating and disappointing Android experience. I am a paid client since 10 years, fix these issues asap, otherwise I am leaving.
I was reluctant at first... But cant live with out it. Canon camera wifi app and smugmug app ...good match.
As a photographer, I've looked for places to display my work, build a portfolio, sell images, share albums or photoshoots and ease of use for the (non techy type). Smugmug has been the place. The desktop version is amazing so many features! The mobile app has some features, but obviously not as extensive as the desktop version. However, the mobile version helps me stay active and functional if I'm out and away from my computer until I can return to it. I'd recommend.
Pretty awesome overall. Easy to set up and customize, with very personalized results. Only real beef is the last update forces members to see a Library page of their latest uploads first, before being able to see their customized layout the way a visitor would. This may be useful to some, but it's an annoyance for me, and cannot be changed back to the previous default view.
Oh yeah, this app is perfect! I can store so many pics on the app without taking up space on my phone. I can also send pics directly to the app from my phone and store them in any folder that I want. The only thing I wish they would add is a feature to allow users to organize folders in any order they want...drag and drop them in a particular way that is important to the user.
Slideshow feature at the top level was removed? Now the only way to display a slideshow of all my photos is by going into Android Screensaver settings, which is a cumbersome and round-about method, and requires configuring SmugMug as a screensaver, which I may not want permanently. The slideshow feature of a single album/gallery is still there, but it's harder to find in the newer versions--hidden in a submenu, rather than a play button on the top bar. Once you do find the slideshow functionality, it is very limited. I can't adjust the most basic parameter of a slide show, which is the time between slides. Another basic parameter would be, do we want the slide show to loop, or not? And what about displaying in random order, or in sequential order? No, all we get is a simple "play" button, and it does whatever it wants.. which seems to be sequential within a single folder, or random in the screen saver mode. I do want to use the slideshow as a screen saver (and this works in the Android screen saver settings), but the constant flipping between pictures every 5 seconds makes me not want to use it! Also, I'd like to have the option to automatically filter out videos. In a screen saver format, having videos be optionally filtered out makes sense. Especially because the sound of a video can be startling! but also because even the visual motion of a moving video (even if the sound is muted) can grab the attention when the function of a screen saver should be a pretty background image that you only have to look at if you want to. We should have all the configuration options (and more) for a screensaver slide show as for a regular slideshow, except it should always loop, default to random order unless configured sequentially, and give the option to filter out videos. Right now the only option is which gallery to display, and that's not nearly enough options. I haven't had a chance to test SmugMug on Android TV recently, and it appears you may have brought that back, and if so I'm glad to see it, and I may try it in the future. I hope it has Daydream support (screensaver) but this is not stated one way or the other in the recent release notes. If this is missing, please bring it back.
There is no other app that does what this does. Manual tagging, great organization and good pricing. Only confusing part was that a link will break if you move the item to a new gallery or folder...but instead use "create virtual copy" and put it permanently in a gallery called "Linked". It's a bit of a workaround but very easy. They should make their links permanent.
The Auto-Uploader only grabs images from my camera folder. I use Lightroom, VSCO, and other apps that export to their own folders (not always customizable), and it would be nice if the app uploaded those, too. The "set it and forget it" nature of auto-upload is utterly defeated if I have to keep remembering to manually upload those pics. Otherwise, it's a fantastic service with great value!
Video uploads feature is not usable. I am looking for a solution for both photos and videos. This app advertised as such. However the videos uploaded in a terrible quality. 49mb file was converted to 100kb for example. Timestamp was wrong, not in a local time (photos have correct time). Menu on video says "photo details". I'll have to look elsewhere.
Have had the app for a few years. Never had problems until the last two weeks. Anytime I try to make a new gallery I get an error message that states "this content is no longer available". I can go through the desktop version and create albums to use but when I go back to the app they cannot be found once created. What the heck?!? The app is a far easier tool for me to use than online version.
Very nice.. As long as you pay. If your subscription runs out they won't even give you access to your photos. Was using the app to photograph my workout improvements for a few months, but building muscle isn't the fastest thing so I canceled it. Now I can't even see or retrieve my pictures without paying a month's sub. Would have appreciated if I could just export them or even just see small versions of them.
For the price of unlimited photo and video, its amazing. But beyond that, the lack of Google like search features is unbearable. Besides the search, there are some missing basic ease of use functions. Like on files that failed to upload with error, there is no way to retry beside going to find that specific photo and upload again. Also I can't upload ALL of my photos at once, it only does all by date. And WHY dont the albums have the ability to group by date like the photos is beyond me.
I find the app very stable and reliable. Presentation is awesome. And they just make it easy and intuitive to use. I am still learning all it has to offer. I have ordered several hard prints thru the app and couldn't be happier with the service and quality. I wish the app offered a place to socialize more, like with family, for comments and sharing about photos but still love everything about the app.
We have been smugmug subscribers since 2005 and we still think it's the best hosting site available. There is only one issue with their site that was available and is no longer which they say cannot be fix and that is a huge bummer in our eyes. As far as this app goes;it's nearly perfect. The one thing with it I'd like to see fixed is that when auto play is enabled (Screensaver if you will) that movies would play without having to engage the play button before the next photo appears.
It's fast. I like that I can access all the photos thru the app with ease. I particularly like the fact that even with Google Photos backing up my photos, I could use SmugMug as a second source of backup, automatically. Also love how they keep adding new features - goes to show that they are constantly improving.
Excellent app, user friendly and well thought out. Been using it for almost 2 years now.
App is very good to browse albums but auto upload feature is poor. You can only turn on and off. No source folder selection available and this is a major oversight as it uploads all photos from different folders. I don't want to upload my temp screenshots or memes I receive on WhatsApp for example but there's no option to avoid this yet.
Very handy little app for uploading phone pics and being able to access my Smug mug library. One annoyance is that notification bar keep showing an alert that SmugMug is uploading. Even though the pics have already completed uploading. Clicking on the notification, opening and closing SmugMug does not clear it. Only a phone reboot clears the notification until the next time I upload photos and then again the notification does not clear.
Why can't I change my Design Template/Theme in this app? I want to change it from my phone app here - and I don't see it anywhere.
I love having the app as quick way to show my photography portfolio to others.
Fairly easy to work through. Anything I can do on my computer can be done on this app
While I think the service is great if reviewing this app only then I feel it does not inspire confidence. Auto upload is not responsive enough and with no way to manually trigger the auto upload. I take photos for projects and cannot access them on the desktop as I am waiting for the upload to occur. Not sure how to handle failed uploads as it does not give me any options (just delete the notified issues).
Schemey... Upon 1st launch it starts a free trial. Sunscription only. Cancel anytime but no option to cancel in app. Support staff always available but link goes to web page unavailable and subscription is not listed in play store. Not happy at all with the bait & Switch "free app" that automatically subscribed me to something I'm not finding a way to cancel. Bad business.
Very hard to upload videos, results in many errors. This is a long term problem that app creators are not addressing for years. Even when next to wifi router with 100 Mbps connection the app fails to upload 30 sec video despite repeated attempts. Also don't allow to just retry the upload -- instead you have to manually go and find that video again to try to upload it.
It lets me use my phone to manage settings. I can also download galleries to my device great for doing a slide show when I don't have internet. It sometimes does not let me go back to my default screen and I struggle with it a little or it would get 5 stars.
