Snap & Split Bill - instant OCR bill splitting

I wanted something that could photograph a supermarket receipt and allow me to allocate the items to different people. This did exactly that and read a 30 item receipt adequately. It didn't scan multi-line entries, but it was good enough for me. It just scanned the last line of multi line entries. Nice work! EDIT: Thanks for the reply. I understand the challenges. Perhaps an option is to have a button to merge it with the line above or below. That may be too much work for some people tho.

Finally found an app that can split a bill by items instead of just dividing the total cost by the number of people. OCR worked great on a clearly printed receipt and almost perfectly on a less clear receipt. But editing entries is easy. I had to remove the 'Tax' item, and enter the value after the tip percentage, but the whole process is so much faster and smoother than doing a bunch of math at a restaurant.

Buggy - the total figure keeps showing crazy values several times larger than the bill total. When tapping people to toggle them on and off the app hung on me. Even though there's a list of the bills you've scanned, tapping on them just shows an ad for the pro version. The OCR part of the app works reasonably well though, so the app has potential.

extremely prompt and generous response from the developer... looking back on my original review it seems either i missed a tutorial somewhere, or may i suggest to the developers that they include a warning message or have at least a completion page/checkbox instead of having this "filing away" be automatic. the app itself (even just the free version) worked wonderfully, the scanner was mostly accurate even scanning from a photo of another photo, splitting easy to allocate. thumbs up

Very impressed and 100% recommended. It does a great job of recognising the text, it's very intuitive, allows you to take multiple photos if your receipt is long (e.g. of you're shopping for multiple people during pandemic times), and also let's you share the readings with anyone, not just users of the app. For 5 stars, I'd like it to tie in with banking apps for easy transfer of monies, and also have a multi item delete. Amazingly effective and simple. I was sceptical the OCR would be accurate, but it is exceptionally accurate. I like manually cropping the receipt as other apps grab the wrong data. Cropping allows for precise data gathering. The Unlimited Pro version is worth it if for no other reason than to remove the ads.

Not as easy to use as blitter. I used blitter and snap both for the first time today. Blitter does in one step what snap does in several. With blitter, you hold your phone over the receipt, and it automatically takes the picture and inputs the correct data. With Snap, you have to take a picture and you have to adjust cropping for the correct area. This app does have some advanced features that could be useful.

I have used the app for a while, but am revising my score from 5 to 3 stars for now. The app is great, but it often happens that the snap or photo misses items on the bill. One then has to continuously restart by taking a snap over and over, especially if it becomes a longer bill. It becomes a pain and somewhat embarrassing!! If it does not work consistently it may not be worth one's while to depend on it. I do hope further development will sort out the bugs?

Works pretty well and I use it often, I even paid for the premium to support the developer . I wish there were some features to make it faster such as a recent history of people's names so I don't have to type. Wish there was a way to delete certain people's names. Also tax and tip is split evenly. it should be by item.

Great app! The developer is also quick to fix bugs. The flash was showing for too long and he fixed it in a week! So refreshing considering I've given feedback to other apps and they don't act nearly as quick or responsive. Will happily pay for that level of service.

Amazing app to split bills between a large group. After clicking a picture of your bill you can specify which friends ate what food and even split by uneven amounts. The app then allocates tax and tip appropriately and gives a total for each friend to pay. No more mental math!

It's very good, but it would be better; for tip, if we could enter the amount manually. And also for different currencies. And also digit grouping. Then it would be awesome! Ps i'm using indonesia rupiah so have to add manually all the zeros and digit grouping will be very helpfull :)

The scan bill app worked fine initially and I paid for it.. and now the scan doesn't work anymore. The adjustment on the top part doesn't work and just gets stuck at the top, and eventually fails to recogonize the bill.

A really good app makes splitting bills with your friends a breeze. The OCR capture on receipts is really good and it is very easy to add a new bill so that you can get the breakdown very quickly.

The perfect bill splitting app I've been longing for. So happy to just be able to snap a bill and assign the payers in a minute. My only wish, though a bit strange, is that it comes to iPhone so my iPhone user friends can use it too

This app is really bad at reading receipts. It often doesnt recognise more than half of the items in the photo. It's also really slow and shows a lot of video ads.

This app is an example of great design! not to mention that it works so well. really impressed with it. haven't found an app that can do bill splits from images. Keep up the good work!

Very useful app, and developers are quick to respond to feedback and suggestions. Would definitely up the review to 5 stars once the app is able to recognise different currencies and formats (e.g. app cannot scan/recognise most of my JPY receipts despite setting the detecting language to Japanese). That aside, I can't wait to see what improvements the developers will roll out in the future!

Wow! This app is perfect! Scanned perfectly, intuitive interface! My friends were so impressed, no one even hesitated to pay their fair share! Please don't change!

I instantly purchased the pro version (which is reasonably priced for the functionality offered) as soon as it perfectly processed my first bill. Great app for splitting bills unequally among people.

Can't get past crop function. looks like a great uo but there ia no 'accept' button appearing on the crop page for receipts. so there is no way of getting past it to upload receipts. I have a Samsung S9. frustrating

Actions take way too long to happen. Tapping the "add" button makes me wait 2 seconds before it opens. Thought my phone froze as I kept tapping it to get a reaction. Not good.

Really need this app. But if friendlist is long, say, 20 people, some people cannot be chosen. Tried to pick the first person to mark that he did order the thing, but it kept reset and his bill was always 0. Please fix.

Almost a great app: However it still doesn't solve the issue of having to ask my mates what they got. If you could add people to the bill split so they can select themselves what they bought - I would then give this 5 stars

App is very useful. Solves the major issue of splitting items from long supermarket bills. Would be nice to have an option to split the amount with multiple share for a person

Camera does not focus well. App always double charge the bill (adding the subtotal with its subtotal and then adding the service charge and taxes). Tried doing manually but unable to add service charge UNDER subtotal.
