Snes9x EX+

Advanced open-source SNES emulator based on Snes9x 1.53 with near complete game compatibility. A 1GHz+ device is recommended for best results. For older devices, a faster version based on 1.43 is available for download on my site. This app is 100% free with no ads.
The public-domain game Bio Worm is included. Other ROMs must be supplied by the user. A number of public domain games/demos are available at www.pdroms.de. Transfer games anywhere to your internal storage/SD card and browse to them from within the app (default SD card directory on most devices is /mnt/sdcard). ROMs may be in .smc and .sfc formats, optionally in ZIP, RAR, or 7Z files.

Decent emulator, but I have 3 problems: 1) the buttons have no feedback when pressed, maybe making them light up would be nice. 2) whenever I play super ghouls 'n ghosts and there's more than a few entities on screen at once, it slows down. 3) there's no option to rewing the gameplay, which would be nice. Other than that, solid emulator. Would definitely recommend it.

For some reason this simply will not recognize DPAD input on my SN30+. The app is completely unusable as a result. It recognizes all button presses, but the DPAD is unmappable and it does not recognize any button presses whatsoever. Super frustrating because I can just flip over to NES emulator and it works amazing. Also works great inside all frontends. Only SNES9x is busted.

Runs great but the ui could've been better (like maybe a bit bigger options or icons/etc the likes of DraStic and some others) not a big deal, but there is one real problem: files don't update immediately. EDIT: Files now update/get created immediately but stopped working and no longer load (can't load state or save files), and if I press save again, it'll create a copy instead of overwriting the original file. (eg file (1), file (2), etc ) Tried clearing cache and also re-installing.

The game seems to run well. However, I was not able to save in-game. I wasn't able to save using the emulator either. I did see a lot of new files populate the game folder but I was not able to load. The "load state" button is always greyed out. I had all permissions to storage allowed for the app. Update: I was able to figure out the problem and fixed it. Wish it was more straightforward.

Has a bug (or terrible design decision) that causes sram to sometimes not be written out when closing the app. Happens only like 1/20 times, but it's enough to destroy any confidence I have in this emulator handling my save data correctly. If it's such a huge technical challenge to save an 8KiB file at the right times, then at least make it clear what we're meant to do in order to save our games consistently.

Please make it possible to add save/load state buttons on screen; this is a must in every mobile emulator. Also add an option to fix audio so it remains unchanged while fast forwarding. Its quite annoying the audio getting weird and loud during fast-forward. Please consider these useful and necessary features. Thanks.

Great emulator! The only thing I would like to add is a rapid button option. Like if there is a rapid toggle you could turn on in any button you would hold down would act as if it were being pressed rapidly. Or if it has that feature already I cannot figure out how to turn that on.

Newest update broke controller support. Using an Xbox Series X controller on a Somsung Galaxy A32. It worked fine before. Now I can map inputs as normal, and it recognizes them fine. But when i get into the game, it recognizes my inputs improperly. I don't get 8t. 3verything works as normal when keymapping, but once I'm in the game, I'll press the A button and it behaves like the B button. Hope this gets fixed soon. I need my Super Metroid fix.

I want to love this app but it won't recognize a folder or a snes game. The only way i can get the game to play is by opening it through the file manager Total Commander. I have to get into TC and long press on the game then hit Open With, then choose the emulator. But by doing this I don't get features like Save. Through the game or the emulator I can't save. Like I said I want to love this emu, so fix the problem where it doesn't recognize a folder or game and I'll bump this to 5 stars.

I have been using Robert's apps for God knows how many years now. They are perfect, I tried switching to competitors, but they always had something off. There was a glitch in December 21 due to Playstore policy changes (shame on you Google), but Robert personally helped fix everything in a matter of minutes. Phenomenal service. Thank you!

The emulator is fine, but what is horrible is the fact that if during play you accidentally open the menus there is no way to exit back to the game. You have to either save state, close the game or exit the emulator. There is no "Back to game" button or any way to resume gameplay...or is there, and I just didn't find how to do it??!

Solid SNES Emulator, but I agree that the UI could be better. Maybe like Lemudroid. But overall, it's the best SNES emulator. For people complaining about games not saving, in app, go to Options > System > Save Path, then select App Folder. That's the most convenient way.

Excellent app, only one issue since the last update, all my saving states gone, I can not longer save my saving states on the external memory (Micro SD Card), I was forced to create a new folder on the internal memory for my saving states and choose that path.

I liked it , it dose what I'm wanting to do with it. Is there a way I can cast it to my TV while using my phone as a controller? If so that would be even better , but it runs chrono trigger so I'm happy with it for now . I haven't gotten to the future workd on it yet so I still need to see if it supports multi button functions so I guess I'll be back with an update on it

It's fun for about 2 minutes then you realize your dealing with a super unresponsive touch pad. Pair a controller and it's a little better but it's still not the same that's why I can't get into emulators.

Unintuitive settings menus finally allowed me to organize keyboard support. Works great once you get the keys the way you want them. Love the way it resumes the game where I left off. Recommend.

My most recommended Android emulator for SNES for sure! The other ones I was using were full of ads, John Ness, which was my favorite up until I found out SNES 9x was available on my android, is chalk block full of ads and is just unbearable due to that reason. The save States and uploading ROMs can be a little confusing for this, but with trial and error, you'll be well on your way to using the best darn emulator for Android that there is, in my fairly limited experience.

Love it so much thank you! For those having issue with saving state you have to designate a folder to save it to, go to Options and then System. Took me a minute to figure out.

Bluetooth controller connects without crashing, but does not function properly. Ie DK country you can only walk. No jump carry or roll. Also in default control you cannot carry and jump with barrels.

Recent update lost my save data. Found an article on redit mentioning to change the names of your save data to match exactly the new save data format. This fixed my problems. I believe it was changing .oops to .srm and changing .00 to .0A hope this is helpful for thoes trying ro restore old data

The best and has been since dinosaurs ruled the earth. I only wish it had or I could find a way to customize the on-screen controller. Let me reiterate, best emulator for SNES. Recommended.

Worked perfectly before, now I can't open my roms and says "permission denied" when I try and open roms Edit: I have fixed it by moving my roms and saves to a different folder but was a hassle. Not sure if this is an android thing or an app thing though.

Bri. E. Mar 7, 2022

Was running perfectly fine for a little while, but all my saves deleted themselves' multiple times, as well as with NES.emu, (for some reason all these emulators with this home sceen menu layout aside from MD.emu do) and after a while it kept getting an error when I tried to create save states saying that it was incapable of writing saves anymore. I downloaded John NESS and haven't had problems since, other than the lack of video options SNES9x EX+ provided.

Mik. R. Mar 2, 2022

Works perfect! The best SNES emulator in the play store! It would be cool if you could change the color of the button layout to look more like the SNES.

It's great so far. Just one problem. How do I map the diagonal buttons to my controller? I try to press both left and up but can choose only left or up. I can't play fighting games without diagonal buttons mapped.

This has been my favorite Super Nintendo emulator for quite a while now. I really like the simplistic ui and how well it runs games. Only thing is that for some reason, hitting up on the right analog stick opens the menu. Not a big complaint, just a bit annoying when trying to press the pause button.
