Soapstone

Soapstone is reverse geotagging. Rather than tagging a post with a location, tag a location with a message! Others with the app can read your message but only if they're close enough to where it was written.
Soapstone uses a phrase builder that allows you to create a wide variety of phrases. Leave one at your best friends house ("simpleton ahead"), your local city library ("silence therefore stealth required ahead"), on top of a mountain ("I did it!"), or at your favorite coffee shop ("Hurrah for artisan!").

Your device will receive a notification if one of your messages has been rated up by another user.

Soapstone is entirely anonymous, no account is necessary.

Fun little way to leave messages around.

We'll get through this together. Don't give up. Keep calm, & praise the Sun.

Time for joy, therefore happiness

This app is hilariously adorable and I love searching around my area to see if any nearby Dark Souls fans left any witty messages. This app is really nice and I hope it sticks around. It could definitely use some work, though. It's a bit laggy and unresponsive at times, but not TOO bad. I'm sure after a little polish this app will be a big hit.

Cool idea on paper. However, the app is very slow and unresponsive. The main feature needs a lot of work as writing messages is sometimes a chore more then actual fun. I'll gladly buy a premium version if I knew it works better. For now, check it out but don't expect it to actually work.

Such a cool idea and it runs great on Samsung s6. Haven't suffered any of the lag reported by other users. Only downsides are in ruralish areas there's no one with the app and you can't write your own message. You have to form it from pre build options

Great idea. Needs lexicon improvement to be more useful in the real world. I suggest having different types of messages with different visible ranges and notification properties. For example, orange messages are only visible within 30 feet, but notify you when you come within that range, and green messages are visible from afar (like all messages, currently) but don't notify. This gives context and more real world usability, prevents being overwhelmed with irrelevant messages on the map, separates "discovery" messages and "goal" messages, and gives more direction to messages of a certain type. Praise the Sun!

Stumbled on this after picking up DS3 again, and I'm really happy to see it's a reasonably solid app. Does need some meat on the bones, like a way to separate message clusters, add gestures, and achievements to encourage some more use. Otherwise, I love how well done this little novelty idea is, and I want all my friends to try it. Glad someone thought to make this!

I love Dark Souls. It's my favorite game. This is a great idea, alas it's a little slow and laggy. Needs improvement but it is fun to use. Adding a way to load everything faster would be a good start. I like the app and I hope to be able to change my review. Praise the Sun!

Honestly i think it's a cute little idea. The soapstones in dark souls are one of my favorite part of the games and i love being able to do this in real life. But on the other hand just finding another message when out and about is fairly rare. It is probably just where i live though.

It's okay but needs work. I like the lexicon system for bringing some dark souls inspired individuality to the real world, but more relevant options would be appreciable. I like the rating system, but it doesn't seem to tell me when I rate someone or visa versa. This needs work for me to enjoy the rating system. The stunted view range is somewhat inconvenient. I would love to view and rate my sisters messages who live over 2000 miles away. Lastly but not the least, I appreciate the anonymity of the app. The capability to jot down a quick message anywhere without any connection to oneself is freeing in a sense. In conclusion, this app has struck my interest at heart but for it to truly succeed and grow the developers must keep an ear to the proverbial grapevine and neutral minds capacious enough for possibilities that might otherwise be passes to curb. Yours truly ~C

This app is really fun and I enjoy it. I've posted a few times and rated messages. Load times need to be sped up. I also suggest adding notifications telling you when there are messages nearby. It would be fun to get a notification so you can look at the messages when you are near enough to read them. I do like being told when your own messages are rated. Once you fix load times and add nearby message notifications, this would be a five star app. Quite a few messages in Eugene, OR. Let's make more!

The concept is nice, however I was expecting a whole different idea. I thought that this was an app where you could leave any message you wanted and someone passing by could read it using this app. It's a good app but I was dissapointed to see that you were very limited when it came to the writing.

I didn't realize at first that I could use phrases from certain game regions. Otherwise it's pretty good so far. There are a handful of additions I'd like to see: a Boletaria lexicon, a Lothric lexicon, a combined lexicon, and some more leeway in message placement. I was expecting to be able to move my message around within a block at most, but it's closer to like ten paces. Hope to see continued support for the app!

Overall, I can get behind the whole Soapstone in real space sort of thing. However, the interface needs to be more responsive (maybe radial menus) and it needs more of a lexicon (no food option). However, what is provided here is a decent showing and I will definitely continue to use it.

I just wish you could customize the text fully as opposed to being stuck using pre-set text as this can be very limiting (such as the ability to use beer, drink, structure but not restaurant).

im new to this app,map should refresh daily or atleast weekly and the app is to laggy on my s4

Mar. A. F. S. Jan 30, 2016

Pretty much the title. It crashes on my Nexus 6 as soon as I click on a message. 100% of the time.

Hen. R. May 23, 2016

Yeah, nothing too exciting about the app other than it being a soapstone app. I've ran into some slowness but nothing too bad.

Geo. L. Apr 21, 2016

I'll give 3 * just for the idea. The app itself needs a lot of work. It's very slow, freezes and crashes. I hope to see the devs more active because this could become a great app. Imagine while walking you get a notification about a message nearby, how cool would that be?

Eri. H. Jan 19, 2018

It seems this app is no longer supported, as I cannot post my own messages or see any others on the map.

Fou. E. T. Oct 17, 2016

However where I am it doesn't register at all. I can't leave any messages and there are no messages out here. Either errors occur where it won't post, or it refuses due to no other messages being out here. I get performance and all, but I have no reason to use the app if I can't use it.

Aet. B. Jun 16, 2017

I think their could be more features, like notifications if I pass over a sign. I wish that it was a little more interactive at times, but I enjoy this app. It's like finding helpful graffiti

bar. Oct 4, 2016

A cute idea but it doesn’t let me wrote anything if there are no messages nearby, and there is not a single message for miles and miles.

bri. m. Mar 21, 2017

Hey cool concept but let me write my own stuff then add down votes so the community filters itself.

Ada. T. Oct 13, 2016

Every time I try to write a message it gives me an error that there's no nearby messages.

Joh. G. Apr 22, 2016

Like everyone else says, it's a bit sloe and could use some work, but I'm sure that's all in good time. I do like the app a lot though. It's fun seeing other soapstone messages. ☆PRAISE THE SUN☆
