App no longer functions on Nexus 6p with Oreo. Everything on the screen is enormously zoomed in, unable to use this previously great app until that is fixed. As an Environmental Specialist for Florida Dept of Health, this app would be more useful if it displayed the profiles in inches. Otherwise it's a good start/field reference.
I am currently working on a Ph.D. in soil science, and in my opinion, this a fantastic app. It's really simple to use, yet really informative. It works great on my Casio G'zOne Commando. It would be great to have a map function in future renditions, but this works great for now. My only complaint is that it can't be moved from the phone to the SD card, so it't taking up critical space on my phone. Please change this in a future update! If you do that, I'll go up to 5 stars.
Excellent app till the error bug showed up, can no longer tap soil icon to show the series characteristics. Hopefully they will fix. Use it on daily basis for oil/gas environmental impact studies.
It only shows a large close up of the text, so you have to slowly move the screen around to me able to see the whole profile on the screen. Useless for the teaching tool I was going to use it for. Hopefully it will be Android friendly someday.
This app was the best app since sliced bread, but with both Android and IPhone updates it no longer works. So disappointing...
I really would love to use this app but it reveals in such large font, I can't reduce it to fit my phone screen. Too bad.
Hand held access to data from the nrcs soil surveys. Great field tool for pedologists, environmental scientists and soil nerds.
Hey guys! I love this app, but currently I'm having some troubles with it. The GPS portion times out every time I try to use it, causing me not to be able to see the soils that I'm on! I don't know if this is a GPS problem or a problem with the App, but I'd love to get it addressed. Thanks!
Good app but NRCS changed their Web site and none of the links to soil types work. Please fix.
The words are huge, doesn't want to scroll up / down or sideways. 1st and only attempt to use app, nothing happened. Gave option to go to USDA web site. Same problem.
Would be an awesome app, but the font and images are extremely zoomed in and it is very difficult to scroll. Please fix, because as is, it is useless.
This is a great app, but it needs two things to get 5 stars. 1 it needs a method to send or save the soil data, so you can email to yourself and use it later. 2 it needs a screen where you can input coordinates to get the same information.
It's ok, but the graphics are showing up very zoomed in. I can't zoom out. It makes it very inconvenient to look up data
Please please please fix the zoomed text. I used to use this app all the time and now it's hardly useable that the text is way too zoomed in.
Used to work great. Now everything is zoomed up to 500% and has become unusable.
The app opens to a large zoomed in window and I cannot zoom out 2 a normal screen. It did work fine at one time and open normally but now it doesn't.
Text is zoomed in too far. You have to scroll all over the place to see the soil profiles.
Great app for anyone who deals with soils. Only problem is that the text is way to big on the screen on my Pixel XL.
I have not found any soils app better than this one. It is relatively accurate as well.
Great app only issue I'm having is that the text is so big I have to scroll alot to see the profile. This large text has just come about recently. Other then that it would be 5 stars.
Just downloaded this app at the recommendation of a soil scientist, but it crashes every time i try to open it.
I would give this five stars if it would display site index. An excellent product for the most part. Thanks...
Thanks Dylan. This is a great resource that I find myself using often.
As a grad student at a land grant institution, this is an invaluable tool for soil analysis. Would be even better if I could save data for reference.
Great app! Should have a little bit more specific when locating you. I've analyzed soils within 100 ft of each other and they are totally different series bc of topography
Might be good, but pages are permanently zoomed about 500% making it very tedious to view and navigate.
I'm a licensed soil scientist in NC. Use this in the field occasionally. For reference to the individual in Florida heath dept. the units of measure are not exact just a reference lol... and there is 2.54 cm in an inch.... lol tell the health board you guys need some calculators. Soil taxonomy is an "international" profession.
