I loved this--good storytelling, good format, and I felt like the choices I made actually mattered. I did get tired of waiting for keys, because it's such a blatant money-making ploy--Haiku Games is consistently excellent, and I would pay for the app initially if it weren't free. But waiting in-game is frustrating and sometimes makes me forget what's going on. I also wish it were harder to click through dialogue. Several times an accidental tap made me miss info. A "next" button would be great.
Sadly this was pretty mediocre for me. While I understand the use of the key system, it was quite frustrating. You can really only play for 10-15 at a time before you're out, and the key meter caps out at 5. The story in itself is slow-moving, so combined with the key system, it makes the game teeter on inducing boredom. Not recommended for anyone impatient. Personally I also thought the plot wasn't very interesting. I would replay, but only to see if different choices have any effect.
It's really fun I've played all 3 Solve It visual novels. I would like there to be a bit more music, I think it's very effective. Maybe an update on graphics. The only thing that does bother me slightly is touching the screen to keep the conversations going. I've touched the screen accidentally and didn't even manage to read what the captions said. Maybe this can be worked on?
Honestly, a really good experience overall! The game mechanics are easy to understand, great storyline that makes sense, very fleshed out characters, and overall I feel like my options made a difference instead of games that have limited options and same results. A game that you can play through multiple times to try different options. I'm obsessed and I'm playing the next 2 installments too!!!
As a fan of AE I would expect something more exciting. This one is more of a novel reading where one can choose how one's story is going to be. The text style and the conversation could be improved, they are quite old fashion as of now. After choosing options, there's a repeat in the conversation so it's like we have to read twice for the same content. It's kind of redundant. But the story is interesting. Looking forward to the complete version of this game.
Love it! At first I thought it was a little too constrictive with the choices but it all changed in other playthroughs. Talking to multiple people about the same clue or disclosing some info while hiding other is an interesting mechanic. I also enjoyed the paid options, that you're not actually forced to pay. The only negative point, reason I'm not giving the five stars (yet), is a technical issue: the keys don't replenish efficiently. Some times they just disappear, others I get stuck at 2 or 3.
Woah! Superb game. One of the best Visual and detective novels I ever played. Also, its offline, thanks for that. And it doesn't force us to pay for keys or coins and also the replenishing time for a new key is pretty okay. Not too long a waiting time. And after finishing the game, they do not take back the collected coins and keys, giving us an opportunity to try different choices. Overall, loved it.
had a really great time playing this game! The story was well-written (if a little short); the characters felt believable and the dialogue was solid throughout. The graphics were beautiful and I loved the soundtrack! I plan to play the game a few more times to see more of the deluxe chapters. This title is very F2P-friendly, though the in-game upgrades aren't outrageously priced, so that's great. I'd love to see more visual novels from Haiku Games!
I really love Haiku Games. The stories and characters are engaging. It would be nice to know how else it might have ended if I had made different choices through the game without actually having to play the whole thing again. A back button might be nice. I bumped my screen unintentionally at one point and zipped past some of the story. I couldn't go back to see what had been said. I also wish I could apply game coins toward the purchase of keys and not have to wait so long between chapters. The wait time between chapters (when not paying) in relation to the play time was a little annoying; but, beggars can't be choosers. Having an option to buy endless play without keys would have been nice. I wasn't sure that even the big key purchase would last the whole game. I didn't want to buy keys if it still wouldn't be enough--or end up with extra keys I never used. I would have been more likely to pay to get rid of the need for keys altogether than I was to buy keys. But, even with these minor irritations, I give Haiku Games five stars. I will definitely seek out more Haiku games to play. Keep up the good work!
Hey guys, I'm adventure escape games fan but I also liked this type of game because I like detective thrillers. But I'm giving it 3 stars because I think the story was too short and you'll also have to improve the controls because there's no proper way of quitting the game and getting to the next statement by tapping on the screen is a little bit disadvantageous as I have to be very careful. However, I appreciate your new thought, CARRY ON.
Very interesting detective game. The story unfolds as you interact with the characters giving the idea as to try to identify who could be a potential suspect in this case. I like that I can decide the answer/question to use in a scenario I find it nice to set the scene for what could be next. Very good so far as to the game it uses keys to advance to the next character which is required to continue with the story. Looking forward to play all the way and find the culprit to this story.
Haiku games are amazingly fun and on point accuracy in the explanations of their games. However, in my opinion this one wasn't as wonderful but it is in a different genre. This text adventure was just that, text only. I felt that a few puzzles or some sort of mini game here and there were NEEDED!! But a very well made game no less!! My FAV INDIE DEVELOPERS hands-down!
How these devs are a "small indie company" is beyond me. Absolutely love their stuff, and this one is no different from that. 4 stars cos of a weird bug I've experienced (Keys drained) and cos the storyline seems to end abruptly. Would like to see the story extended some more and the keys to last longer. Convo per key is definitely short :( Nonetheless, definitely recommend this one, as well as their other apps.
This game was a breath of fresh air to me. Having played other haiku games before involving tapping scenes and solving puzzles, this was a relaxing game. I know that it's not what everyone's looking for, but I think the essence of haiku games relies on the story and not exactly the gameplay, since that's what originally attracted me. On the technical side, everything runs smoothly, it wasn't pay to play, the waiting part of the game was okay, and would recommend to people who'd be interested.
I've loved all of Haiku's games so far, but this is pretty different. I'm not as thrilled with the lack of puzzle interaction. the whole game is run in a wizard like fashion, so you're really limited to predetermined responses. I really don't like the timers on the keys, which are the way to the next scene. Basically, makes you either sit on your hands or pay for access over and over again. I've supported Haiku in the past and really like their stuff, but I'm not sure if I'll finish this.
This was such a breath of fresh from the usual line up of games from Haiku games. Love the whole narrative experience as in this choice based approach, the flow of the narrative isn't affected by your ability to solve a puzzle. It's just make a decision and keep going. Another perk was the highly tough/complex decisions to make. There were multiple times were I could not decide what appeoach to take. However this also was it's downfall as you never know what choice is right and it costs you.
This is a vast departure from their Adventure Escape games, which made for a shock. This is more of a "Choose your own adventure" type game. But it is very well written and you can have some "premium" side stories that are unlockable using "Sleuth Points" which are fairly easy to earn in-game if you don't want to pay real money. All up, a fun game to play and worth the replay to get better endings.
The game is actually quite good. The usage and cost of some of the more premium choices could be lowered or there should be added mini games or ways to earn more. Also, transcripts and saving checkpoints should be added to help when you have to step away and return at a later time. The transcripts would be a very helpful way to keep up and remembered what you have "read" up to the stopping point. The illustrations are beautiful, if the characters lips could move during convos would be nice too.
I love all of Haiku's game, and this did not disappoint either. Well-planned out story line, great animation, and smart features. The game kept you engaged, and at the same time wasn't too difficult or drawn-out. Basically it had everything you could ask for. Also, Heschel looked like Ok Taecyeon lol. Idk if that was intentional or not, but bonus points for that!
