I loved sonny 1 and 2, so I was hoping for this to be good too, but I was wrong. Less customization than 2, no animations for your characters taking damage nor them doing damage, when you equip equipment, they don't change visually, and the ads popping up after every fight is annoying, but what's worse is that sometimes, the ad is zoomed in, so you can't even click on the X to skip the ad and the ad doesn't go away automatically, so you restart the app to close the ad just to lose your progress.

This version is somehow a low budget version of the flash game from 15 years ago... One of the coolest aspects of Sonny was getting new gear for your party and seeing how cool it looked. Now you just look at the same 2D clipart the entire time and check stats for anything meaningful. I really wish they would put some effort into this one and make it more like the flash version.

Seeing that I'm a fan of the first two sonny games, I thought that this would be good as well. However, this game suffers from the same problem that I had with sonny 2, most of the bosses are not balanced at all. The game starts off very good, but after a few chapters, the bosses seem like they were balanced assuming the player would have a specific set of abilities and not only making it feel like those abilities are required to beat that boss but also not making it clear what abilities should be used. I was able to brute force my way through most of the game, but I'm at a point where training my characters doesn't seem to actually do anything and I already have the best possible equipment available. I'm not going to talk too much about the graphics because I don't think they are better or worse than the flash games. There are things I prefer about the flash games, like the fact that equipment actually effects the look of your characters, and obviously the overall art style of this game is better than the flash games. However, the game does suffer from another issue and that is optimization, on the same phone that I was able to play the 3d remake of final fantasy 3, this game runs very poorly on, having random slowdowns when absolutely nothing was happening. I wanted to wait till I beat the game to actually review this game but with everything I mentioned above, I have no interest in actually finishing this game. Also, something else that I want to bring up is the fact that this game isn't fully voiced like the flash games were. This game feels like no actual love was put into the game and feel like it was made because sonny was a popular flash game at one point and armor games couldn't think of another game to have on mobile devices.

Was hoping for something like the original two, but the storyline was bland and the equipment had no effect of the characters look. Along with that, it's infested with ads and the animations are boring. The game doesn't have the submerging feel like the first two either, and some of the characters are missing. The baron is nothing like his original counterpart. The Game feels like it was trying to please certain standards that ruined the game entirely. Disappointing

critical error, the game deletes or overrides the save file whenever the ADs fail to finish or load properly, This happened early on and I thought it was a fluke. But, I went to the final area and was a few stages into finishing this game one of the advertisement video failed to let me finish and black screened the game. I went back into the game and it brought me back all the way to the beginning. Complete failure, dont waste your time.

Props for switching the game into a mobile app, but please make sure the program runs smoothly. The app restarts every 3 battles when I reject watching adds. I was extremely disappointed in the change in the story line. Combat system works and I understand limitations on the skill tree for space. All in all I would recommend people to just play the original on Newgrounds.

I really love the game, and am glad it has improved on the app store since it started. Everything is almost flawlessly amazing, but the only concern I have is that when given the choice to revive in exchange for watching an ad, it doesn't work. The ad will play, but afterwards it will leave me back in the level without respawning. Please have this fixed

I was browsing the internet when I remembered that I used to play Sonny 1 and 2 on my laptop, then I tried to look it up on the internet if there's this game in the store. And boom! Here it is. This game is good, graphic's fine, but there are some features that can be added into the game, like speed up or double speed, the option to lower the graphic setting, etc. The downside is that there are too many intrusive ads, time spent watching ads is longer than playing the game itself.

I love this game. It's a great turn-based rpg with balanced combat and many ways to play with the different skill trees. The background music doesn't get annoying or tiresome and it sets the vibe just right. One thing though: I wish I had more control over what my party does, whether to control them directly or have an "offense" or "defense" setting. Other than that, I definitely recommend this game!

As much as I love the originals on pc, I can't say the same about this one.. For starters? Unlike the originals, the characters are replaced with static, lifeless, unmoving images, to the point it feels more like a visual novel than a game, mind you, I do love the redesign of sonny and crew. Second, the originals let you pick multiple strains, this one forces you to start with physical. There is more, but I'm reaching my text limit.

Great game, I live how it was remastered like this. However, the ad for revive simply doesn't work. I've gotten to the second to last battle without it. But it's really annoying when I would like to finish a battle I've been struggling with. Like when there is one hit left or something and the ad revive doesn't work as advertised.

I think the game is great. The only issue I have has to do with the features that have to do with ads. Whenever it asks you if want to watch a video to get an exp boost or gold boost, if you click no, it will play an ad anyway. Another issue is that if your team dies, you get the option to watch an ad to revive your team which is great. The only thing is that after watching the ad, your team doesn't revive. The game just stays with the enemy on the screen and nothing else happens.

I loved the original and it's even better sequal. I had high expectations for this. It managed to disappoint in every way possible. Ads are intrusive to be POLITE, the game is setup to make you watch additional adds to get enough xp to beat the game "as intended", and for being a strategy game there is very little planning you can actually do since so much of the game is based around random drops, critical hits, and precognition for the battles ahead, since you can't change your abilities.

Similar vibe to the first game but just not the same game. It's missing so many of the features that made it great. The skill trees are simplified, there's no animations and the gear doesn't appear on your character which really hit me hard. I like the art design but without the above mentioned it's just lacking. Love that this is available but it's not going to cut it for me as it is.

As fun as a turn-based rpg can get, things get interesting as you start to live with your choices of evolutionary strain and find ways to re-spec your skills to beat new opponents. Towards the end I found myself rearranging my skills for every new battle. The main villain is clearly based off of a certain political figure but the game itself doesn't get political. Does something new with the theme of a zombie apocalypse, but zombies themselves seem to have little to do with the adventure.

Now, let me just say this: This isn't the best remake. I like some of the visuals and the music remakes, however, the gameplay and other visuals I feel are just not faithful to the original flash game. The gameplay is unfair, as you must pick a certain class unless you want to get wiped every single time. The original is just so much more superior, and I'm very disappointed with this.

AJ. L. Aug 14, 2020

Many people hating on this game miss the original from a point of nostalgia; and whilst that is perfectly understandable, I actually love the new changes! The combat system is more realistic, fair, and challenging, the points system encourages diversification of abilities so that you can really get a feel for the classes, and the new story is excellent! Two caveats though: one, the effects should have been the main focus - not healing or damage, and two, finish the original story and this one.

Not too difficult and not too easy either. The game gives you a sense of knowing why and how you should balance your stats; there's no OP statistics on items and overall you can only rely on combos of your own movesets. I just wish there's something to do more with your allies, like maybe add more abilities to them and like in the previous Flash installments customize their behavior, but the follow up of the AI is good nonetheless.

Can you put the Original Sonny games into the Play store? This is a remake of the original game, and it is just okay. There's no voice acting. The graphics are good, but I miss the original game. Which was amazing, and perfect in every way. Clearly, I am not the only one that feels this way. The camera constantly shifting to each character and villain when it's there turn is a headache. I'll probably finish this game (maybe) and then uninstall. Please consider putting up the original games.

The long awaited sequel to Sonny and Sonny 2 filled me with joy...and dissapointment. The story was reworked which isn't actually a bad thing per say. The visuals are updated, but their is zero animation, a downgrade from the last two games. Equipment is not shown like in the past two games (an option for this would have been nice). Some fights are mindnumbingly easy, and alot are very rng dependent, balancing is way off and difficulty spikes are frequent. I wanted more from this, allwell.

This game would be splendid if it weren't for how some of the ads appear in-game after battles. Some ads open up even with a tap on the sides of the screen and the "watch an ad to revive" doesn't even work. I watch the ad and return to the battle screen just looking at my enemies with me and my allies nowhere to be seen...

Nic. L. Mar 2, 2019

I absolutely love the game and the franchise, I use to play it as a kid and I'm so happy it is out for mobile! I just have one problem though. During the battles, if you die you can watch an ad and get resurrected only once. But for some reason every time I try this it just softlocks the game and I have no idea why. If this bug wasen't there I would have no complaints.

ste. Sep 13, 2018

So I really enjoy the game and unlike everyone else ads are not a problem my issue is that I am currently in the shadow area and can't progress or train in it as the enemies have too many over powered abilities with short cooldowns it wouldn't be so bad if I could control my allies. To make matters worse my choices for my character in terms of elements is apparently the worse possible combination and I can't change it. So in short some nerfs on enemies are needed and you need control of the allies in some sense.

Pau. P. Dec 8, 2020

Bloated with ads, after almost every single battle I am forced to watch an ad (even after watching one for bonus exp or gold), some can't be skipped, others don't even display properly and lock you out of the game unless you force-close the app (doesn't help that these cause severe screen flickering, an epileptic seizure waiting to happen). I am only halfway in, it's just a remake of 1 so far, but I plan on finishing it. The overall experience has fallen flat for me, the first 2 were better.

Ale. R. Mar 4, 2019

great remake! I would like to remove the ad's though. am willing to pay as well but don't see any option... as for the game, some visuals for the items you equip would be awesome! cheers! edit: I've changed my mind. I tried to put up with all the ad's but it's getting increasingly more annoying. please make a purchase option soon! edit: game uninstalled please please please let me know when i can make a purchase!!! <3

I love Sonny. I played both Sonny 1 and 2 on ArmorGames and Newgrounds countless times. I've beaten this version twice in the past, and I've thoroughly enjoyed every run through. I just started again and I'm upset. Not by the optional ads that give you 20% more xp or gold, but the unskippable ones. If it were a free game, I wouldn't care. I deal with plenty of those, but I paid for this game. I shouldn't be forced to watch advertisements for a game I purchased. I'm disappointed in this update

Ele. K. Feb 8, 2019

*Review Update* Very upset i cannot revive after an ad I've been playing the Sonny series for a very long time and this mobile version is pretty good as far as what you'd expect from a mobile version of a browser game. The ability to add 20% xp or gold after every battle (with ad watched) is pretty handy during early stages of the game. I was really hoping for a carbon copy of the browser game but this one does a really great job of keeping to the original. Fantastic work as always Armor Games

I loved the old games and this one is a pretty cool reboot and much better than other reboots of old games I've seen. I only have 2 complaints though, 1) no control over allies, normally not that much of a problem but from time to time the ai does incredibly stupid things and 2) revival doesn't work. I'd like to see a more in depth skill tree in the future and maybe 2 power wheels for active/passive abilities for more varied play styles.

Its good, but not the greatest. I was disappointed to say the least, when I realized the gear you put on doesnt show up on your character, the animation is noticably downgraded, I've also noticed the lack of attribute points, the story doesnt compare much on how the original Sonny games were written. It just feels like it was rushed. I hope that guy who's making Sonny 3 (4th adaptation) ends up with a good product, I have high hopes for him. Love the soundtrack though.
