My issue with this otherwise good game is that its not made clear when you have "lost." For instance, I may do action X, and 30 minutes later learn that prevents me from doing something else which may or may not prevent me from completing the game. This makes it quite frustrating to have to rewind one you've realized you cannot finish the game. Should I trace back 20 minutes or 1 hour? It's overwhelming when you have to go through the same process again and feels too much like trial and error.
I LOVED it! Much more difficult than the first game, but we are seasoned adventurers now, aren't we? 😉 I had to go back some (love that feature), and I got confused once or twice. Figuring it out was FUN, though, not tedious. I thought the city was intriguing. Reallly loved the cast of characters. I hope Flanker makes a return! Superb writing, fantastic game. Great job inkle LTd!
Brilliant game, manages to encompass you in its story, gameplay and world. I've never quite seen a mobile game that is this good. Although, my only complaint is that the game is split up into parts. Not a problem with Play Pass, but, it might be annoying when you have to buy each part separately.
Each installment of the Sorcery! series improves upon its predecessor. The highest praise I can give, then, is to say that each game is worth playing in its own right; not just so you can experience the entire narrative, but because of how different an experience each chapter will provide you with. In this chapter, the game focusses on hard choices. Exploring a city and hunting for clues, knowing that with each path you take there is a whole arc that you've chosen not to take. Sublime.
I have played both Sorcery! + Socery! 2 so far and I couldn't put either one down. I carried my game over from the 1st chapter with no issues at all and this chapter was significantly longer (my only negative to the 1st was how short it was). This chapter had so many choices, places to go, interactions, etc. Plus the storyline was far more compelling requiring you find certain information to be able to move on. I enjoyed the challenge and am looking forward to Sorcery! 3
Amazing writing by part of the developers. Not as hard as the original but still makes you feel like you're in this city of ne'er-do-wells where you always have to have an eye over your shoulder. My personal favorite of the 4 setting wise.
If you like Sorcery 1, you'll love Sorcery 2. It's better than Sorcery 1 because you basically have to rerun it and explore 100% of the city instead of just once. You experience more of the actual game and story in this one, as opposed to speed running your way to the city. However, I can't complete the final spell in the 3 tries it gave me, and I feel like it should give out more hints every loop as to how and where the spell bearers are. I'll probably do a rerun anyway.
Sorcery! 2 continues on it's originals immersion with new twists and lots of items to be had in Khare, Cityport of Traps. This sequel has far more content, making the seemingly smaller area of Khare feel like a long winding maze. There are so many paths to choose from as you avoid dangers and gather piles of items and gold in this dangerous city. Certainly worth the price with its built in new game+ style potential ending and many things to encounter. Trust no one, but do master Swindlestones.
this game is nutters😋..the first book is a breeze..the 2nd is not..getting out of the city is easy..getting out the city in a decent position so you don't die 10 pages into the next book is really hard..devs best way to improve sorcery is to add some randomness to it..if a 3rd of chioses had multiple outcomes you couldn't predict the game would have almost limitless replayabitity.
Much better than the first one, in my opinion. I felt like my choices carried more weight, and the city of Khare is a joy to explore. The game's more challenging than the first one too, since you need to pay attention to the clues you gather during the adventure if you want to get a good ending and be better prepared for the events of the third game.
Tedious loop After getting through what felt like a pretty successful run through of the city, I'm missing key things to end the chapter. After 3 such attempts I've lost interest in repeating the city for the ONE remaing piece. Im really sad about this cause I want to try the later games..
Loved this even more than Sorcery! 1 because you can actually explore the whole map and experience all paths and choices in-story (not just by rewinding). Also liked the mystery-solving feel this one had - and the very addicting dice game.
The app is crashing every time I start with a new character. I am on a Pixel 3 running Android 9. It gets to the character on the map for the first choice and then immediately crashes to my home screen.
Easily one of the hardest. But there's definitely such good writing and adventure it's hard to hate. Khare truly feels like a living breathing treacherous city full of thieves and traps. It's a shame we don't get adventures this good anymore. Absolutely love the new additions Inkle put it as they feel very authentic to the original book.
While the first game was fun and had some luck in fighting and a few other events, this game seems to favor luck much more often, and penalizes you for even trying. I'm not interested in wasting time repeating the same event hundreds of times in the hopes of winning once. You lost a hopeful fan of the great CYOA possibilities and intriguing storyline with your implementation of swindledice.
I found this to be probably the most difficult of the four books, with a lot of searching and branching out of possibilities. But it is great and let's the story change pace.
Extremely well adapted for Android. Engaging both to play through once and to explore over a long period, seeking the best solution.
Without trying to spoil too much, this series is excellent! Every choice feels like it matters in the arc of the grand narrative.
Worth the money. A lot of replay value. I discovered these gamebooks from the director of the Dark Souls games, Hidetaka Miyazaki. It all makes sense now how he came up with the main idea behind the games.
Fun interactive solo fantasy with an engaging story and inventive magic system. Actually improves on the books from the 1980s! Highly recommended.
Great continuation of a unique take on interactive storytelling. Game mechanics start branching out in this one so it's more than just the next part of the same game.
The first loop was fun, but got to the end and couldn't complete it because I missed something. Subsequent loops were less fun because I was so concerned about not missing anything.
OKAY I can't actually play but don't want to give a bad review I'm using my Samsung s7 and it crashes whenever I click my character at the very beginning I loved the first sorcery and if there is any possible fixes I can do to make it work it would be greatly appreciated
I love this series, however, I painfully have to rate this game 1* because of 1 thing, Swindlestones. They gimped an otherwise beautiful CYOA rpg with a high stress highly luck based mini game as the central focus of gameplay instead of, idk CYOA rpg content that made me love the first one. I'd give full 5 *'s Swindlestones was was optional, or could be disabled, it can't which makes it pointless unless you like Swindlestones which I dont. Tl;dr: They tried to reinvent the wheel & made a square.
An excellent entry in the Sorcery saga that still feels like a self-contained experience. An improvement on the first game on every level.
Start with Sorcery! (1st) The 'Choose Your Own Adventure' books made into a game. I can't imagine how difficult and expensive this game was to create and maintain. Every action creates a different path to reach the end. The consequences of your actions carry on through the next 3 games in the series, and beyond - to replay sorcery 1-4 again with increased difficulty because of the choices you made the first time through...
