SOS Autoroute: on-board emergency call service
No need to walk to the nearest emergency call station if you experience a breakdown, an accident or any other difficulty during your journey on French motorways. The free SOS Autoroute app features an on-board emergency call station to contact the nearest safety centre quickly and flag an emergency situation. All calls are manually logged by a human operator who will talk with you, confirm your position and your location on the motorway. SOS Autoroute optimises emergency interventions by establishing your position using location services. It also allows you to attach a photo of the situation along with information about your vehicles logged in advance (up to three vehicles).

In this new version, in answer to your demands, the ergonomics of the "profile" page have been totally revamped (field entry, bug handling, etc.) and the bugs noted when you enter your details have been corrected. This application operates on APRR& AREA, SANEF, SAPN, ATMB, SFTRF, ADELAC et A’LIENOR. You are directly forwarded to the 112 emergency number outside covered motorway networks. The application will soon be updated to operate on other motorways. SOS Autoroute is available in English, French, German and Italian. This application has received the Proxima Mobile label (State-recognised free service of general interest).

Was told to use this app to call for help since French motorways are not covered by ADAC+ Neither on Android nor on Apple it was possible to call for assistance, because the app was not working correctly (multiple crucial parts did not work). My recommendation: Just call 112 right away and don't waste a single second of your life using this useless app.

The app is probably fine, it,s just a disgrace that when I needed to use it on the autoroute du Soleil the appr operator was not able to speak any English. And was very candid about it. So glad this was not a big emergency.

As already stated by others on this site there are major basic problems with this app. Even though your country prefix can be chosen and the 0 correctly indicated as dropped (0) when you then enter your number the app rejects it. Maybe it has been programmed for a specific number of digits not corresponding to British or Irish phone numbers. Don't know. Would have liked to have this facility on my phone on my French trips.

This would be great for UK visitors if only I could use a UK phone. I can read French, so do not need a multi-language application, but I cannot add a foreign phone number to register. e.g. +44 7837 ....
