SOTA Spotter

This app was great, but became a lot more frustrating since the big redesign. First of all, I was unable to submit spots with the Internet because it did not make it clear that it switched from sotawatch2 to sotawatch3 which uses completely different credentials. Once I realized that, I was able to fix it and submit spots after being without that feature for a month. The more pressing issue, however, is that it only seems to show very recent spots, like 30 minutes or less. This means the screen is nearly always blank now. It used to show spots much farther back, several hours. This should be a configurable setting and I can't find it.

THE go-to app for SOTA fans. The separate Spots & Alerts tab help you keep on top of who's on air, where and what's coming up. The SMS posting option means you can send spots from a hill top with thin GSM coverage - where mobile data doesn't exist. I had a spot of finger trouble when I first installed the app and got excellent and prompt support from Bogdan - incredible service for a free app. All round rating of 10/10.

Why cannot I send an alert or a spot? Each time I try, I get "Error authorizing with SOTA SSO [1]. Status 401". What does all that mean? And what is a SMS gateway? What have I done wrong? Same on phone as on my laptop, BTW.

The app has worked well for me for several years and continues to do so. 100s of spots sent and received from Smartphone. I use the text service provided by MM0FMF within the app or when the mobile signal is sufficient, I use the app directly to spot myself. I've just started experimenting with the filters for receiving activation notifications for the 14 summits I have activated but have not yet chased. Not sure if this works for me when the app is not actually running, but we'll see... I would like the notifications to appear when the app is running in the background if possible, to alert me for a SOTA Complete. 73 de G4OBK Phil

very good app, however, the filter section does not seem to work intuitively in my opinion. you have to select associations you dont want to see. It would be better if appling a filter to select those you want to see.*** update*** i changed default filter to accept and back to drop and it worked so may need this action to activate the filter on some phones.

Doesn't work. No summits in database. Won't find any by either means. Gives error messages when spots and alerts are clicked on. Database reports up to date and I'm not the only reviewer with the issue. Edit: this error means the app needs reinstalled. Hope this helps.

this is an ok app. the summits list refreshes back to top when you look through it. kind of frustrating when you want to just look through summits. the filtering is nice, but kind of clumsy to get right. it took me four or five tries to get it right.

Cannot for the life of me get filters to work. No matter what filters I set, or if they are set to accept or drop, any time I have a filter, no spots come through at all.

Brilliant app. By far the easiest way to spot and look at spots from my phone or tablet. Also love the filtering and notification options.

There is no way to shut down the app. Notifications just keep on appearing even after a forced stop via the Android control panel.

Really nice and useful app. One request to make it 11/10. Would it be possible to add filters and notifications for alerts as well as for spots ?

Pretty good, shame you can't turn off cw, data etc completely and not just by band/mode.

All... "summit not in database", on the database update settings menu "you have the latest summits database. current database: 20210108". on the find summits menu (nearby summits & by association) - "menu not working". de YF3CLS 73' on samsung galaxy note 5

Selecting time and date info in the alert page doesn't populate the two boxes so I can't send alerts... Phone is a pixel 4

Excellent well written app. Very useful for Spotting and finding summits.

Database must not be working because it shows no summits near me and none on the map either.

Interrupts music to the point where the music stops on notifications. Only app that seems to do that.

This latest version really kicks it up with superb native summit mapping, routing mode plus a feature to visualize the summit's topo info directly on Google maps. Well thought out, highly functional and technically superb, this app provides a unique method of capability & operability for this specialized segment of our hobby. Great work Bogdan!

Several setting screens do not allow any way to navigate out except to close the app and reopen it. Should have an option to only display SOTA activity that could be a specified distance away for HF QRP and VHF and UHF spots

All appears to work well except the ability to sent via SMS. Phone on Android 7.1.1. When I try to select Gateway get message No SMS gateways so cannot chose an SMS number. The list appears on a .7.1.1 tablet but of course no phone service to use SMS.

Had some crashing with the latest version so reinstalled it no problems since. Love the notification feature!

Can't enter any text using google keyboard

Finds nearby summits, displays SPOTs from SOTAwatch, filters spots, sends spots via SMS or cell data, One easy to use APP that covers all the essentials. Must have SOTA APP. Terrific support by the developer.

Works well, the callsign spots have to be in CAPS, it took me a while to figure that out.
