Soul EV Spy

This app can save data in .csv-files, and look up DC-charger locations in Europe. If you do not need those features, you could use the original, free app "Soul EV Spy - Lite" instead, if you cannot afford to pay for this app. For some models (e.g. Hyundai Ioniq), less data is available in the free "Lite" version.

Soul EV Spy lets the owner of a Kia or Hyundai electric car view detailed information about their electric car's main battery, by plugging an inexpensive KW902 ELM-327 v1.5 Bluetooth OBDII adapter into the standard OBDII port of the car. The app cannot modify any settings in the car-. The app only reads data from the car, via the OBD-II dongle, displaying and saving data files. It does not write settings to the car.

Questions regarding the app are answered by other users here: https://www.mykiasoulev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1193

Konnwei KW902 ELM-327 v1.5 Bluetooth adapters are available for around $10-$20, and one is required before Kia Soul EV Spy can extract data from your car.

None of the many ELM-327 v2.1 adapters tested with the app works properly!
Many of the cheap ELM327 OBDII Bluetooth adapters from Asia does not work with the app, and often report themselves to be version v2.1. The only one currently recommended is the Bluetooth Konnwei KW902 v1.5, because it supports all the needed ELM commands to communicate with the car systems, and because that is the OBD-adapter I have tested.

This app is communicating with systems in the car, which potentially can cause the car to behave different from its normal behaviour. This app is not endorsed or approved by Kia or the companies that produce the systems in the car. If you choose to use this app, you alone are responsible for any and all consequences of doing so.

This app requests access to the device file system, if the user choose to store datafiles in the Download catalog on the device, for later replay in the app, or for the user to use in other apps, e.g. a spreadsheet for data analysis.

The app texts are available in:
English
French
Norwegian
Russian
Danish

This app requests access to location, in order to request locations of nearby quick-chargers, and to calculate car speed.

This app was originally developed for Kia Soul EV 27 kWh, many data values that are read from this model, are not (yet) read from other models. BMS cell voltages and temperatures are supported for all models. Diverse data values for other Kia and Hyundai electric vehicles (EV's, PHEV's and HEV's):
Kia e-Soul 2020-
Kia e-Niro
Hyundai Kona EV
Hyundai Ioniq EV
Kia Soul EV 2014-2019
Hyundai BlueOn EV
Kia Ray EV

Awesome app. Easy to use on my 2015 Soul EV. Never knew there was so much information on tap via the data connection. I used to think this type of data would require expensive dongle and wiring. Dongle was under $6, so for a total of about $20, including this app, I was able to determine main battery has dropped to 63% SOH. If this helps me obtain a replacement battery under warranty, it will be money well spent.

Non-intuitive setup process, but it was easy once I setup via the great documentation. Also super happy to find this app works with my Chromebook Duet. Nice work team! :)

I have bought the software, and it is not working; it connects to the bluetooth OBD2 dongle but doesn't connect to the car, the car is a Korean market import.

Had trouble getting it to connect until I turned off the car's bluetooth. Android Auto was apparently interfering.
