It quite succeeds in satisfying my curiosity about how loud things are. My mechanical computer keyboard, for example, may be not so loud as I assessed it to be initially. Not louder then a conversation. The possibilities to compare different sounds and tune the app are brilliant.
I like it .. easy display .. adds are there but will not interrupt.. and you can calibrate noise level if you want
There is no point offering a sound / dB meter that does not have the ability to calibrate it. This sensitive App does and calibration is very easy. Simply place 3M from a device with a known (and trusted) output and adjust the reading to match. I would prefer a full-screen option allowing finer readouts from the 'needle' display but there is a precise digital display as well. Ads not too intrusive but, as the best meter app by a large margin, it's worth paying to remove them if used a lot.
Much improved sensitivity, seems more accurate. Thanks for the improvements.
I did what it said to "remove ads" that didn't work. Couldn't help but hit an ad button when trying to use this thing moving in and out of the menu. The ads were like some kind of a game flashing around on the screen popping up in different places. Migraine city! I really wanted it to work too! Bummer. Very disruptive Ads. I cannot get to the correct answers below Yes English. YES, spent a bit of time watching ads to get to my 50 coins so it would remove ads. Below does not show correct answers.
Nice app, more accurate than other ones in the play store (compared it to an actual decibel meter). Feature request: Would be nice be to see a history of the sound graph (without saving every point in time). I like that you can watch a few ads to disable popup ads. Win-win for app developers and users. Also like that you can have the app vibrate if the environment is too loud.
A VERY attractive interface! The output seems to be dampened to make the readout more stable and the graph smoother. This should not affect the accuracy, provided the app is calibrated correctly. I knocked off one star because (1) no instructions for calibration are given, and (2) it doesn't say how the signal is weighted (A, C, Z). "DB" by itself is vague: is it dBA, dBZ, or what? BTW, You CAN get rid of the annoying ads easily by watching 4 or 5 ads, then restarting the app.
Great app with one irksome fault - it won't comply with screen rotation (on Note 9). When I test against a proper SL meter I get pretty good alignment if hold phone in reverse so microphone at front, but reading is upside down as app won't rotate. Calibrate doesn't fix it as length of phone means a calibration at one level is wrong at a different level say 20dBA away. OK, so I read it upside down and calibration stays pretty good to a proper instrument, and that is pretty useful. Thank you for that.
I have neurological condition. My hearing aids can not help with loudness that make me irritable and angry. This ap is great! It let's me know if the dbs are above 75 so I can put in my ear plugs!
Most acurate (in comparison with real dB meter) among five similar apps tried. Ability to save sessions highly appreciated. Excellent users interface. Highly recommended. I honestly have not experienced most of the issues concerning Ads and inaccurate readings that a sizeable number of reviewers expressed. I think it has to do with their phones specs, configurations and capabilities.
Just as accurate as the expensive unit used by the Traffic Department to check my motorcycles that I build.
Great app! But I need to know how to export or move the recorded sound files onto my desktop for evidence in a noise complaint issue with a local venue. The recorded sound files do not appear when I browse my phone's internal storage with a file management app. If you read this developers, could you let me know if this is possible? Thanks
Sure... it has a lot of ads, but it's free... so there's that. This works really well. I own a woodworking shop that also has a laser, a 3D printer and a CNC machine. Lots of power tools along with dust collectors and air filtration units running create a great deal of sound. I have ways to mitigate the sound... now I have a great way to see what I'm hearing and manage it accordingly! Thanks!
Remarkably efficient... Super accurate! No reason to keep looking, this is as good as it gets.
Works perfectly and a stupendous app to ease you from boredom . I seldom use the app but when I do , the application eases me .. a digital yoga
I downloaded this app to check how loud is a new toy police serene. It is so loud, that my ears are ringing afterwards. The app showed max 88 dB. I stuck a tape on the serene and it became much quieter, however the app didn't show a big difference. I guess it's because mobile phones are not designed to catch too loud sounds, so other devices should be used for such purposes.
I absolutely recommen this app. There are very minimal adds and the noise meter is easy to read and comes with a quick reference guide you can view at any time to show variations in the levels of volume. From leaves falling to thunder. You can also record and save anything the meter picks up, just click the floppy disk symbol.
I would think that an external mic would benefit this apps measurement of sounds i wish to be informed of. Yes the idea is not new but it is most ideal to be able to capture the decibel level so that I can plan my actions accordingly. Eg when I play electric guitar I can use the meter to control my output to housing legal limits. I originally sourced the app to show me the noise level on my above neighbours when they party and talk constantly after acceptable times in the night/morning
Tons of ads including a major annoying banner one at bottom of screen, another notification icon for "recommended apps" (an ad), and even an ad shown when exiting the app too. I understand developers getting some revenue from ads to support free apps but this is crazy. Not bad app overall but the amount of ads is overwhelming!
Design looks pretty nice. Provides info on average and current sound decibels. Suggestions: - Feature: Sends notification for sounds exceeding set limit (Useful for many purposes) - Runs in background and shows measurements in notifications instead - Buttons are too small, even on a large tablet - Try not to show an ad everytime I click on something
I beat my finger against phone to test efficiency cos either real dB measure or not and it works well cos it shows low dB reading even if i beat hard. Standing outside while loud music on and it measures high reading. So works accurately. But remember to stand so that the wind doesnt interfere with your reading. It might add some confusion to the reading in context of how its measuring real sound and the wind can be pretty loud.
