I downloaded the app and immediately started using it to measure the spl in my home theater. I know I need to calibrate the app to my mic and there is functionality to accomplish that. So the accuracy is up to me....use the default values in a relative way or calibrate the app. The developers seem to adhere to the Keep It Simple Stupid and that's a great sign for the app's ease of use and reliability.
Very happy with the app. It is of course, as far as accuracy is concerned, tied to the performance of your cell phone mike. I often use it to compare different noise levels particularly at night when things are quieter. I am happy I downloaded it and recommended it.
Does the job. However, it does not help to say how it has to be calibrated. Since the curve is pretty noisy (expected), a feature of adding simple moving average would be helpful
Seems to work pretty well. A little puzzling as to correct orientation of phone to obtain most consistent/accurate results. Trying to use to set home theater speaker levels...seems a lil bit better than by ear.
It seems to me, this app is a very good reference for approximate sound levels. It seems to be accurarate, relatively speaking, and the user interface is user friendly.
Seems to work pretty good. Tested on several things that I know the db rating of & it seemed relatively accurate and acceptable, despite limitation that phone is not a calibrated instrument. I'm happy with it!
This sound meter app seems to work really well.... I've only started using it, but so far I really like it. I haven't experienced any ads thus far. Thank you to the developers for an app that does what it says and is very user-friendly.
Simple. Good display choices. Does decibel measurement as expected. Has clear directions and warnings regarding accuracy (responsible programmer). Even works on an old Android 4 phone.
So far just one innocuous ad at the top of the screen. Nice that it has different color options for the screen, white or black, high contrast et cetera
Does what it's supposed to do well & is easy to use. I use it for measuring my 3D printer fan noise & it comes in handy for measuring car exhaust noise. I can't leave any more info in the boxes below because when the text is zoomed on the phone screen, most of it vanishes
Now this ia cool. Ive been wanting to chart the loudness of my trombone playing to create some points of reference, using a decibal chart online for loudness symbols in music(ex. mp, p, f, ff...), and then using this app to see if im meeting the marks. Other words, ive been trying to see how loud "forte" is in music. This was helpful☺
This app I had already given 5* , but upon the things that you (I have learned how to use....this in sooo many ways....thank you so much...the logic of having a spectrograph to use...I've been able to flush out and down ...clowns 🤡... 🙏🙏 like A God frequency. Hides in background so you cant see it, it could fool anyone , but you gotta go back in actual program..... "Time expires but space can still be recovered"--Napoleon. .....an absurd amount of options that YOU CAN USE.... Lovve IT TY
I love how it shows in graph form the sound levels it records. Its unfortunate that you cant download a pdf of all you recorded to give a better amd complete view of the noise exposure
Awesome app !!! I was considering buying a sound level meter to measure the noise of my motorcycle exhausts and horns... Many of the reviews mentioned that a simple app on your phone was more accurate, so I figured it was worth a try.....very happy with the way this works .....I also downloaded their digital compass and it's so much better than the last one that I tried it's hard to believe how much better it is... !!!
Great visual meter for noise levels. Have only used a few times so far but I don't find the ads distracting given the free app over all.
Seems to work well, ads are not intrusive into the UX. Was using to see how loud a blower fan was when drying my kitchen so it was exposed and tracked from 30Db to 80+Db.
Overall it did what it said on the tin, and worked perfectly for what I needed it for if you need a sound meter to check your dB's or whatever sound you want to measure you will be happy with this app. And it's totally free if you don't mind a small banner advert at the top of your screen, I hardly noticed it. Great sound measurement app totally recommend it if you need it lol.
I needed an App to recognise where the noisey fans on my PC were located. Sound Meter was great at pin pointing the problem area. No complaints, perfect experience.
Good sound meter. Could you possibly add a frequency discriminator to show dB levels for low, mid and high frequencies? It would help to determine the most efficient sound barriers/absorbers for those frequency ranges. Thanks and great job so far!
I did a test comparing multiple decibel meter apps (including this one) and it is duly noted that this app in particular was off by at least 10 decibels. For the test, I sat in the same spot, with machines running constantly. This app appears to be one of the outliers. No disrespect towards the developer, but the meter seems to be inaccurate, at least in accordance with the process of elimination.
Excellent design overall. One caution: different phone mics have different sensitivities.I had to add +13 to my Pixel 4A 5G when compared to another accurate sound level meter.
I am impressed!! One thing that I ESPECIALLY like is that this app uses my phone's built-in microphone even if I have my Bluetooth headset turned on -- which saves me the inconvenience of having to turn off the headset to use the app. Good thinking, developers!! Now, if only it had the option to turn the display upside-down - that way the display would appear righside-up to me when I'm holding my phone to point the microphone outward.
Exactly what I needed. For some online classes, I needed to check my background noise level. The sound level descriptions were much more meaningful for me than just numbers. The live graph was also helpful, to get a sense of how common noises might affect the audio too. I wanted to make sure I was respectful of others in the class, and now I have better confidence in that.
Very useful! Though I haven't checked the reading accuracy (though it states very clearly that it's not a perfect dB reader). I would like to measure sound levels with the screen off, and without it ruining the lowest recorded dB level. I would also love to be able to make and export basic logs of results. ...Thanks for a great app!
Seems fine. Has a graph and the actual number. Not sure how frequently it samples, seems 2 or 3 times a second. Nice description of the different sound levels. 60 decimal shows as normal conversation. I'm using it to check alarm clock volumes so far they're all 60-decibel; seems pretty low. Already returned two clocks as too quiet to disturb my slumber. Hope this one works better.
Great easy to use and fairly accurate app(depending upon the microphone of the device you are using). The thing I love the most is that it does not irritate you wuth ads, instead it gives you an option to see an ad. I know the devs have to earn money somehow, so its a great feature. I always watch the ad when available.
Trying to find a noise meter that worked every time, worked consistently & quickly was difficult, but here it is. Several of these utilities are good. The bad ones outnumber the good. Then there's the group this app is in. Well, not sure if you can call it a 'group' since this one is sitting alone on top of the gold medal platform where the apps that out-perform all others are and ain't no one else very close! THANK YOU!
This app rocks. Being an instrument technician with process control, This sound app has really opened my eyes to the measurement of sound. Frequency levels and amplification of sound will definitely be the lead to victory with any forms of communication. any language (?) translated inverted or converted via sound communication. Analog to digital or visa versa Don't be afraid to find me. And if You know how to. I am here to help. What you don't hear someone else can. 🙉
