This app gives real-time feedback on current noise levels in your environment. It uses a constantly scrolling bar graph to display and record the data. You are required to give the app access to your microphone for it to work. The app was useful in demonstrating to my child how loud her voice was in relation to others' voices. However, it could be improved by the addition of a visual scale showing the decibel level at which hearing damage occurs, short & long-term. Overall, a pretty good app.

Very useful in measuring sound levels coming from my left/right speakers (just to make sure they are evenly matched). But on top of that, the interface is extremely intuitive, clean, ads are discreet (not in-your-face). There is also a helpful description of the sound level ("quiet living room", "normal conversation", "office") which reminds me if my volume is too loud. Thank you for an amazing app. 👍🙂

Nice app, looks good, works nicely, reacts quickly. It would be nice to be able to see the list of comparable sounds permanently while the meter is running as an alternative option, as it reacts so quickly by the time I've read it, it has gone. IE, whisper, normal conversation. With the upper and lower db limits for each one. Even if it was just a separate page in the app to refer to occasionally.

A good app for measuring ambient noise levels, but there's no way to save the data for later analysis. Most smartphones today have more than ample memory capacity to store data history. 4 hours would be a good length for storing bar graphs. This glaring insufficiency needs to be addressed. For this reason, I rate the app 3 stars.

Easy to use, straight-forward, self-explanitory, to the point, not weighed down with ads even though they're utilized, clean with no unnecessary filler. I give it the highest rating on my own personal scale, which is 99, I only go to 99 when ranking apps which use ads, otherwise I rank to 100. I have never given an ad utilizing app a 99 or close to it before now. Excellent, a user friendly app, refreshingly clean format. I appreciate this app, an app that dosen't waste my time. Thanks, Roy Hanks

Simple app with simple dial display that works well. Problem is the TYPE of ads being displayed. I can tolerate plain display ads while evaluating an app for continued use. Cannot tolerate ads that blink, flash, or otherwise try to get your attention. They are obnoxious and distracting. But the ads being placed in this app are the absolute worse. They prompt you to install another app. God forbid you fail to hit that miniscule "x" to close the ad and start the installation of something bad!

One of the better meter apps however I can't really see any use for this when this is usually just a tiny part of a much more complete app. I only know if 2 uses that these may be useful, setting phase of speaker drivers, setting levels at crossover points. Neither if these are tests that wi ever be used by 99% or people. If you want to see what's louder than something else it's great for that as long as it's not very loud. Restrictions on max readings and tones render it useless.

This has been an excellent tool to show others, real time, how much noise is in a room. Exhaust noise from motorcycles and cars. Lawn mowers etc. DO WISH could save the file so you can show someone later. Big drawback. Otherwise great app. By the way, shouldn't have to pay extra for saving files. The ads that popup should cover that.

Checks out. As a safety professional it is handy being able to now have a camera, light meter (another app) and this sound meter app right on my phone. It is handy for quick assessment of work area, before bringing out dosimeters. Works well for quick check of machine noise or general work area. It was as accurate as my stand-alone sound level meter, just not certifiable. .

I'm a Registered Professional Engineer. I'm testing this app for use in proving an idea I have is valid and applying it will work and be marketable. This app is very accurate and user friendly. It responds to changes in real time and simultaneously presents two separate real-time analog graphs (a Dial Graph, and an X-Y Line Graph) of current Sound Level vs. Time. Each graph allows for at-a-glance reading of the sound environment on the fly.

Perfect for testing the efficacy of sound deadening foam in a home/hobby environment. Make sure phone is in the same orientation and distance from source during your comparative analysis. Not sure about absolute accuracy as a sound meter but you can adjust your phone microphone in the app to match a calibrated meter reading. This is not important to me for my purposes and readings seem to fall within the descriptive ranges.

Seems to be the only accurate one out of the three similar apps ive installed. All of which had 4.5 n above. 4.5 might be innacurate but i think, they were the 3 highest rated anyway... The other two show 30 plus decibels in a nearly silent room in my quiet house. This one shows only 21 or 22. Which is obviously closer to truth. Only 4 stars because it lacks a list of average decibels of various sounds! Nor allows you to save graphs.

As a basic measure of sound this app works quite well. The ads are not too intrusive. I didn't give it five stars because I sat my Samsung down with an Apple phone and the other one gave a very different sound level measurement running a different app. It could be that the other phone was wrong but I have no way to know which one in incorrect.

Very handy tool for estimating sound level. I don't imagine it's particularly calibrated (how could it be?!) But for determining if you have made something louder or quieter than before, or than last week, it's great. And the human brain and ears are terrible at repeat measurements!

great app, really like the history chart and description of what that sound roughly means. Although people should be aware that this isn't any good for risk assessing or testing for 'loudest' sounds as phones microphones have auto gain adjustment built in and I have yet to find an app that bypasses this. Also every phone model will be different and even using the error adjustment in the app the levels recorded will not be accurate.

Ex audio technician. I don't have the tools anymore to verify it's accuracy so I will use it just for fun. You can look up lists of expected levels of noise on line for comparison. Seems ballpark. I wouldn't use it for use in the work place. We had proper test equipment in the workshop and anyway those checks were carried out by certified professionals.

Very simple and as easy as cheese to operate. The different colour options are nice and effective too. Night and day mode are good just in case your travelling as it gets rid of the glare. Nice area indicator depending on how quiet or loud your environment is. Maximum average and minimum sound level indicators. Precise scrolling map showing past and present levels. Settings for keeping screen on options, show bar graph on or off. Pause mode to keep data on screen. Decibel calibration is so handy.

I like the clear screen, the annotation is good if a little irritating in that it would be better if it was stabilised over a slightly longer time frame. Liked the ability to change screen brightness. I need to calibrate it to see how accurate it is but as a rough guide it seems OK.

Good app. I hope it is accurate too, while can't set an absolute 0. However, it can be used without any accessories like a professional instrument. Yet, presume it depend on the quality and direction of the phone mic, support surface, and so on.

It's very useful in my career. I'm a Professional DJ/Entertainer, and to make sure that I don't end up rupturing the Crowds eardrums, a Sound Meter Is indeed a very important piece of digital Instrument. To keep the decibels to a "normal conversation" level. They can talk, and still dance and, without the sounds of the music blaring at such an Uncomfortable, ear-shattering,decibels.

I have found this app to be extremely useful in my line of work as a quick reference to the sound levels that may damage my hearing or my work mates. Yes there are some minor variables in the quality of the individual microphones on handheld devices but in general terms this is a great tool.

It's really a cool app. It works nicely on my Samsung Galaxy S9+. I live next to a busy road, everytime a bus passes by, the indicator jumps to about 60 dB. When I close my balcony door, which has a thick glass panel approx 6 mm, the indicator points to approx 33 dB. Very very good app. Thank you sincerely.

Excellent app. Cannot coment on its absolute accuracy. However, but it seems to be perfectly appropriate as a conparison tool, i.e. to compare different levels of noise using the same device. It was very helpful when I did some diy work at home to reduce the noise coming from two in-line bathroom extractor fans. The comparison between the noise levels before and after different alternatives used to reduce the fan noise served as a very good guidance to find the most effective ones.
