Yeah it's okay. I like it. I downloaded two other similar apps a few minutes ago and neither had any sort of comparison scale for reference. This does. Also the two other apps just seemed a little flakey. This is not. No idea as to accuracy but the numbers I got seemed to correspond to the included reference scale. I think this is only the 3rd app I've taken the time to rate. But from a totally inexperienced background this app Kicks. Good stuff.
This app is so simple it doesn't even come with a HELP facility. You can calibrate it if you have a known reading to compare against. Otherwise it just does what you'd expect: it gives you a decibel reading (graphically if you want). Ads are very unobtrusive.
It is a decent sound meter, comparable to my old dedicated RadioShack soundmeter, though not as sensitive. Of course, it is more convinient to use in normal circumstances.
Excellent sensitivity. A superb tool to have on a cellphone to be able to gauge the audiology of what sound may be enveloping one! I compared this against my professional unit and found this equivalent both convenient and an absolute MUST HAVE on any cellphone beyond any reasonable doubt! Your cell is always with you; You've ALWAYS got sound about you and there's ALWAYS an occasion that you would LIKE to know the db range parameter, but don't have anything 'handy' Well now you have ... 10/10!
Does what it claims and does it well. Ads are not intrusive - just something that you have to put up with, with a free app. Well done. I have an old phone, don't know if it works with new phones. Works perfectly for me.
Most accurate of four dB apps I tested. I calibrated them in a booth with PhD audiologists and their pro equipment. On pixel 4a I needed +18dB calibration offset (+-2dB accuracy). It would be great to add a slope factor for full y=aX+b calibration which would have given <1dB accuracy.
Got error message "This app was made for an older version of android and may not work properly." immediately after starting this app. I'm left with no choice but to uninstall.
I use this app occasionally and it gives good readouts even though it says that it was made for an older version of my phone. I like the scale to compare current noise surroundings to standard db noises.
Good UI, but inaccurate readings. Needs some sort of calibration option. Says "quiet library" in a busy Jiffy Lube waiting room with the radio blaring and impact wrench noise coming through the door.
Can be calibrated with a high quality meter and is then fairly accurate. Mine was low out of the box, but likely varies in each phone.
At the Christmas concert in a "modern" church (read loud) I carried this graph to the sound board man, showed him and told him the level was both painful and illegal. The ushers were handing our free ear plugs. Many in attendance were stuffing their ears with tissue paper. Somebody besides me should use this app.
"For an older version of Android... May not work properly" This app seems to work fine, but there are plenty of other good spl meter apps that have been updated to work right with newer devices. Why use an old one like this?
Does what it says, pure and simple, sound comparison chart handy and the graph view is interesting to see spikes in sound. Ads not intrusive.
Great for me! used this to calibrate 7 channel surround quickly and more accurately than I could by ear! About 3 minutes and had it perfect!
Good app. Just wish it had some basic info handy, such as how to calibrate & maybe have ideal range numbers always present on screen for a ready reminder.
Started very well, soon as I stop app got ad videos have a job going into another app I have installed. I needed to close phone to enable to open pre _installed app without doing this I got taken back to this app. Thought best uninstall app for time being.
Accurate upon installation or can be calibrated for even better results. The ads are unobtrusive. Nothing to complain about, it is better than expected.
Seems accurate, but was designed for older android api so might not be as accurate as it could be. Overall decent app.
Straight forward. Simple and ads always at the bottom which not interupting the app's function. Good job and this is what people needs
This app is exactly what I expected. It has all the functionality that it advertises and the ads do not interfere with the functionality of the app.
Lets me know when it's time to either insert some earplugs or step outside. Rock bars full of empty-nesters have already lost their hearing; I don't want to!
Simple and easy to use. I like the scale and examples given in the scale which we can relate to.
Very good and really accurate. This is a great app. Don't screw it up with an un-needed update, or with more useless ads. Just keep doing what you are doing.
Works great. I do car audio and use it quite often to dial in sound systems.
Works fast and works perfectly. It's also extremely sensitive to the slightest sound.
App works well. Simple interface. The ads are not too intrusive.
Does not offer option to set dB scale to dBC so is most likely reading dBA which filters out as much as 39 dB at low frequencies which makes this useless for car audio testing...
This has been a quick and handy way to figure out a little more quantitatively how loads things are around me. I wish there was some way to calibrate it in the app, but it's easy to use and does what it says.
Calling this app "Pro" is a stretch. I can't speak to the default accuracy, and it does contain a calibration tool in-app, but it lacks variable time response, Hold Max, & weighting adjustment (ie, A vs C). The app's minimal functionality seems to work fine, but it's certainly not a "professional tool". On plus side, the app description is very thorough.
