Sound Search for Google Play

After you’ve installed the Google Play Sound Search widget, go to the widget picker and drag the Sound Search widget onto your homescreen. Click on the widget to start recognizing.

This was a great app when I first got it. I don't know if it's the app or the widget that stopped working but now I hit the icon so it'll start listening to guess the song & immediately it says, "oops request failed, retry"!!! It's pretty frustrating. If I would've did a review when I first got this app it would've been 5 stars, not 3. But now it 3 & that's pushing it.
Used to work great on my Galaxy S6 when I got a S7 though every time I tap the widget to search a song it freezes up and I have to delete the widget and put it back on my home screen and then my song will be there. It does work it's just kind of a pain please fix it. *Update* Every thing works as expected now. Increased rating to 4 stars.
I'm giving G-Sound Search 2 stars because I loved this app for many years. Unfortunately, it doesn't work anymore and hasn't for quite a few months. I've tried uninstalling but I always get the same disappointing message: "Oops, request failed. Retry?" Hopefully an update in the future will get it working again. Until then, I will mourn in request failed misery :(
sound search is voice search which is actually Google. when I installed it it never said sound search it came up as voice search. it took me awhile to figure it out. Anyways I uninstalled it because you can just use Google and it will do the same thing, it will identify the songs if you just press the blue dot on the lower right hand side.
I use to use this app to purchase music from play store. I would build up a list of recent searches then periodically use the list to purchase from google play store. The entigration to the play store was nice. Now i use shazam but it wants to use apple music only. Contemplating migrating because of this. Why would they stop a revenue maker. Doesnt make since.
I used to use this app all the time find out what song I was listening to but about a year ago it stopped working for me. it would always offline try again later. I loved this app and I wish they would fix it so I could user it again. if they can fix this api would give it 5 stars.
Hasn't worked properly in ages. It's basically powered by what comes built into the Pixel 2 and Pixel 3, so there's no reason why Google couldn't update this to work on newer versions of Android again.
It's unfortunate that this Google product was not integrated properly into the Google search engine. It did such a great job and kept an easy to access list of previous finds.
The app was great BEFORE the update,now it doesn't even let me scan for songs,as soon as I start scanning it immediately kicks me out,in short "WHAT THE HELL???!!!!!!!"...
Not really diggin it anymore. There are apps that I don't use and never going to. So sick and tired of it stopping when it is in the middle of something I commanded it to do. so I will see you around the town.
Gave it 4 stars because I can no longer use it since it is for old models only. It be great if it could be updated. It is actually slightly better that Shazam, well used to be since it can no longer be used.
This app will randomly stop working and nothing that you try will get it to work again. I just had this happen. Evidently, other people have not had it working since 2018.
"Oops, request failed. Retry?" is all that it does. It used to work just fine. Checked settings, uninstalled, reinstalled and the same thing happens.
Worked great a few years ago until I lost my history and eventually the app itself stopped working as well. I'd love if they updated it and made it useable!
broken, broken. Google app not updated for 6 years. broken on Android Pie and previous phone, yet Google says compatible. stopped working sometime 2017.
Used to be the perfect app to search for songs that I couldn't remember the names of but now is is just a garbage app that doesn't work anymore..
Does not work on Android 9. Was a great app for older Android versions. Should probably not be marked as compatible for newer devices.
4-6-2021 'Sound Search for Google Play' has not been updated since 3/27/2013. 9-9-2021 On other carrier (ATT) Play Store refuses for me to post feedback to this gmail acct. App is no longer operative. App kept on this device (VZN) and other (ATT) device for evidence purposes.
Doesn't work any more and Google obviously don't care. What a shame. Would be more honest to remove it and say we don't support it any more because you effectively don.t! It is just false advertising that sets a false expectation.
It was my favourite until it stopped working for about a year now (since 2018). What happened? So many users posting and no reply, msybe if we say "Hi Google" we will get a reply about why the app isn't working...
This used to be my go-to app for identifying audio. Sadly, it appears to now be totally broken. "oops, request failed," it says.
Used to be a great, useful widget. But recently just states "oops, request failed. Try again?" every time. Not updated since 2013?
On Galaxy Tab S2 all I get is the message "Oops, Request failed. Retry?" This app used to work now it is useless. Have reinstalled and cleared the cache to no avail.
By far, it is (was) the best sound search app made. Then one day all of a sudden Google decides to not support it anymore (no explanation given) and eventually it quits working (Google says you can use YouTube, but no, you can't). I have yet to find another app good enough to replace it. And I agree with others - why, after all these years, is it still available to download on Play? And worse yet - came pre-installed on my phone even though it hadn't worked in years!
