SoundFont-MidiPlayer USB MIDI
Note:Get rid of ads and get extra functions unlocked at Rs10 i e. USD ~0.15 as of August 2016. Google limits minimum to USD +-1 for many countries i cannot control. This donation will remove ads and add extra feature to some of my other apps also in future updates. However this price does not make me work with very high spirit but enough to make updates. Better than suspension of apps altogether. I need support as ads don't pay anything. Thank you.
Features:
- Listen to midi & RMI (rmid) files with your custom instruments packed inside SoundFont files.
- Export midi + soundfont to ogg. (Extra function)
- Switch to soundfonts fast!. Depends upon Soundfont size.
- Test soundfont instruments with a smal virtual piano or USB MIDI Keyboard, Normal Keyboard. Supports Key, Volume, Pitch, Modulation, Pedal events. More should work but i could not test.
- Record to mid file from USB Midi keyboard, USB keyboard and virtual piano. (Extra function)
- Plug normal qwerty keyboard & play midi.
- Make your own *soundfonts with recorded sound and *produce many different musics from 1 midi file.

This app is not a dedicated (at least up to this version)

IMPORTANT:
- Using USB MIDI Keyboard device while midi file is playing might not work as expected because midi events change settings.
- If USB MIDI Keyboard doesn't connect try to turn it on & off & select this app is asked by OS.
- Not all soundfont files with extension sf2 are supported. What fluidsynth/PolyPhone-1.x support is same for this app.
- Effects like Reverb, Chorus, high sample rate & interpolation can cause high load on CPU & cause glitch in audio. This app uses FluidSynth which requires powerful CPU.
- Reduce all options to minimum if glitch free audio is needed.
- Volume gain can cause audio clipping / noisy audio. Keep it below 1.0 if volume is already high for a midi with lots of instruments. Better is to keep this minimum & increase volume from device's master controls.
- Inbuilt SoundFont is copied to //app_data/SoundfontMidiPlayer/ e.g. /storage/emulated/0/app_data/SoundfontMidiPlayer/ select it from this directory.
- If tapping a midi file doesn't starts playing quickly doesn't mean player is taking time but there is some silence in music itself.
As reported by a user some Tyrian MID files were not playing which after testing i found were .rmi files with mid extension. I have updated app to play rmi files.
Issues:Sometimes player crashes while tapping a midi file in playlist.
TODO:
- Migration to folder playback instead of playlist.
- Notifications bar with player controls.
- Export Soundfont instruments?
- Write to disk session. It will save every audio to ogg file.
- Temporarily hack instruments inside soundfont. Example change a piano sound with your voice. To test how your voice becomes music of midi!

Assets usage:
- Most of midi used from www.vgmusic.com.
- Only those soundfonts, midi musics are use which had permissive license. However some license were hard to find. Musics are remake/remixes and may resemble an OST. In that case please let me know if you have problem with distribution of the musics. I will remove them :/
- The assets used were used with the purpose of giving a demo of audio produced by this app.

Some thought gone into this app. Nicely done, nice responsive keyboard. All the standard midi instruments. Can record & save as a PROPER file & a nice settings feature where you can play around with the sound a bit. Only thing is though, I can't get of my sound fonts to load.... Why call your app after a feature that doesn't work? Would given it 5⭐ if the app worked properly. Such a shame
Love it! Really nice app! Suggestions..1, please make the Fullscreen Keyboard emersive (hide system buttons). 2, add ASDR (or even just a pedal-toggle function) to make the notes release less sharply. BUGS...1, Low latency expires even when purchased. 2, Reverb and chorus don't work. 3, Plugging headphones kills all sound from the app and requires restart. 4, App stays open in the background when closed and drains battery - to fully quit the app, keep hitting the back button and select "quit".
The app is absolutely amazing for midi creation and such, however i do have a gripe. Both soundfont and midi files have changed in terms of how you add them, before i was able to add multiple at once but now im only able to add one, may you please look into this as it makes it more lengthy, also this makes my soundfont share the same storage system as my midi, if you were to leave an email for me to contact so i can show you what i mean, it would be appreciated
Works great now with Bluetooth earphones. Which is the big thing I was looking for. Also this is one of the few piano apps that works in the background. Super useful if ur doing piano learning courses or youtube videos. One feature request from me - please allow me to set pedal in the app, even if I don't have an external pedal
Nicely done. Many have tried using the same basic instrument filles & fallen short. The fact I can record what I play makes the app extremely useful to me. Nice touch having options/setting. This would be getting 5 stars if it wasn't for the fact I can't get a single sound font to load. Why have that feature if it can't be used?
Wow! Very surprised that this app does what VLC player promisses to do but does not. Excellent app to preview MIDI files programmed in GM/GS standard. Do not forget however that a MIDI file only sounds as good as the programmer was able to program it. Well programmed MIDI Files will sound excellent with the Fluid Sound Font. I just can't find the purchase function anywhere... Request: Landscape modus... PLEASE. 😊
Nice app! Please make it possible to fully use it in landscape mode. It is not user-friendly when the first screen is only in portrait mode but piano is in landscape mode. Who wants to turn the screen all the time?
On low latency mode, the app crashes after around 3 minutes of playing. I've checked my device's CPU usage, and it never reaches even 10%. If it wasn't for this, I'd give it 5 stars. Besides that, great app.
This is a good app, but you need to do something about the ads. They'll randomly pop up and when I close it out, it messes up the MIDI to the point where nothing will play unless you close out the app entirely.
While the program is ok for playing a midi file, I tried connecting a USB midi device and the program is terribly lagged no matter the settings... almost unuseable even on a galaxy note 4 (4 gb ram, powerful cpu) Even with the lowest settings (which sound horrible obviously) the lag is more than half second.
It was great. I love the fact that I can download load the file after but if I'm gonna use the downloaded file an Ogg file take so long to process into an MP3 file. Plus even if I change what type of file it is by renaming it it still won't work because there will an error saying that I can't use it. Can you please and a way to download the file as and m4a or and mp3 file please?
Incredible! Play MIDI files in any soundfont with ease. It chooses all the instruments for you, which can lead to issues, and pausing and playing your songs reset manual instrument adjustments. Clunkiness aside, a great and practical app!
Man, I never meet midi player app like this. Thanks for making this! Also, for soundfont selection, the soundfont instrument that I Choose always restart when I played the midi back. Plase fix this bug, and thanks for reading this
After V.1.4.4 the app became gradually weak. Your update had lost the function of Reverb and Chorus Switches!. I just downloaded and installed the old apk. It STILL has No PORTAMENTO Pedal. The new version has SLOWED DOWN THE EXPORT SPEED And it made some Ridiculous ghost notes in exported files.
It's a great app, but it always extracts the preset midis to my device even when I don't. Can you make it completely optional to extract presets? Thanks.
FluidSynth needs update there: You are running on an outdated version of FluidSynth (1.16) thus some soundfonts don't work correctly in the version you have been using and keep forgetting to use the latest one on your app updates, the latest version is 2.2.4 - I'd appreciate if you updated FluidSynth to the latest for your next update and improve its sound compatibility!
This app is very good except for the fact that I can't find the sample Midis anymore. They use to be on my old phone but after upgrading and downloading the app again, it seems like they were removed in a newer update. I would really appreciate it if you could tell me how to find them or download them. Thanks.
It works fine as long as you don't import any soundfonts besides the one already given by the app. It often stops working when you try to play a file.
Nice but something seems strange... I just use the app all the time, but ever since I've started using it, I've noticed a very hard but easy to see screaming face. Please explain this.
Better than all the other free MIDI player apps out there. Only things missing are autoplay control and .mus support. (Then again, nothing on mobile supports .mus outside Doom Sourceports.)
Hi! Loving the app so far, but can you make it so if we have a soundfont and midi loaded, we can chose what part of the midi has what instrument and stuff, and that's all I really want.
There needs to be a PC version of this, cause how it loads soundfonts is incredible, unlike other soundfont loading software, this one automatically forces the MIDI to adapt to the soundfont and not the other way around.
My no.1 go to app for adding soundfonts to midi files, the only thing its missing is a way to switch instruments around for other channels rather than just the first one.
Great app! But I wish you could also convert the. sf2 files into an .instr file so I could use them for making songs.
Keyboard disconnects occasionally. Would be nice if low latency mode stayed on when the keyboard disconnects so I dont have to do it manually.
I used this app earlier before I found out that synthesia had sf2 comapabiltiys. But this works really well since synth. Doesnt let you change drum sounds. (For say if your midi had every inst. Set to drums)
The app is nice, it does allow costum soundfonts and midis but what made me make it 3 stars is for 2 reasons. 1. Most of the soundfonts I use won't load even if they are the correct file 2. It'd be nice if it saved as a midi file and just be able to change the notes on like a multi-track system and then export it, still as a midi file. It's a decent app but there are some bad things about it
