This app USED to work!!! Now I put it next to a speaker, playing "Pour Some Sugar On Me" and YOUR app says "Hmmm... couldn't find that one." Which sort of music does this app comprehend these days??? Thanks a lot for going down the drain along with my money when I bought "Infinity"
Depending on the song, it can immediately recognize it and knows which parts of the lyrics the playing song is on. It gets out of your way. Having a YouTube reference also helps to find the less common songs too. My only gripe right now is that while they say they have a tablet UI now, my 8-inch Android 11 tablet isn't showing that UI at all. What a shame. Although it wouldn't matter if I had always used the app in portrait mode.
In 2017 the app had a hard time giving me results. It has improved since then, but still slightly lagging behind the other big app. Currently the 4x1 widget does not work for instant capture. It only opens the app like a shortcut. I am on Lineage 18 with Android 11. I have not yet contacted the dev for this issue. Also, when the app opens and the capture button is tapped, it uses a VERY BRIGHT ORANGE BACKGROUND WHICH IS BLINDING AT NIGHT. Stop that...
Great program. Works great. I wish it had one feature, as low me to tag a song you don't know. I sometimes use you to record a song I know but don't have.
Useless scam app, can't even identify 90% songs even paid of this to avoid ads and show support. Any other free song identifier i used to test after this easily pick up songs even with background noise. Avoid this!
Lately the songs are not auto-added to Spotify, and after i unlock the feature it locks again every time. Please solve the bug.
I've never had any issues with the app. However, I had bought the paid app when I used to use Apple products. Later I moved to Android. But I couldn't restore my purchase as SoundHound doesn't have the transfer option. Years after, a few days back, I thought of checking with the support team if I could transfer my purchase. To my surprise they provided me a play store redemption code which got me this paid app. Wow! This is how you make your customers loyal. Happy Holidays to SoundHound team.
Better years ago. You can't turn the app and see just the words, it's stuck being tall and it wasn't like that 6 years ago
I'm trying to get away from Shazam. This app is not it. It's fairly slow, and fails to identify at least 1 in 3 songs.
Not fit for its intended purpose. Typically you're starting the app while the song is already playing, so it's important for this app to load quickly. But it loads slowly - sometimes too slowly to catch any part of the song. And when it does happen to load in time, 8-9 times out of 10 it cannot recognize or identify the song.
Before buying the pro version this app was dam near perfect. Then I buy the pro app and Uninstaller the free one and install pro and it's been a disappointment 😞
I have always preferred SoundHound to any other music finding app, especially since it has the REAL translation to Rammstein's Du Hast
I've been using soundhound exclusively since 2011. Today I moved to shazam. This is a classic case of the straw that broke the camel's back. There have been far too many minor issues with soundhound lately that I just don't care to stick around anymore. 1. I never knew what the reason was, but every so often it would create a new Spotify playlist. I now have five (I remember consolidating and deleting others too). 2. For the past few months I could not log in with my Spotify credentials. When the bug was finally fixed, yep, it created a new playlist. 3. With this latest update, it would not search for songs. It would just keep listening. I uninstalled/reinstalled, and it does indeed search, but never finds anything no matter how popular. Absolutely useless. Good job, you broke it.
Freezes and crashes alot. It often takes longer to load up than the song lasts. I had an older version which came with a tablet I own, and that worked great. This version is so slow starting up that the song frequently ends before it begins to work. I went back to using another app which has an annoying amount of ads, just because it works quicker. For $5.99 I expect the app to work without issues.
I've had this for several years, I got it back when google did the celebration sale. It was a much better app before. Now the app takes much longer to load (often missing the song entirely), and it doesn't even appear in the apps last used section to recall it quickly forcing a restart every time you leave it. I've noticed that it fails to notice songs far more often than it used to as well. I have Shazam pro too and I may have to switch to that as my default music search.
Although it doesn't seem to be quite as "sensitive" as a well known rival (especially when limited background noise is present), it has had an extremely high success rate with identifying a very large proportion of mainstream music as well as (nicely surprising!) a lot of the lesser known indie music, each time that I've used it. Really simple to use and nicely presented.
Awesome app! It amazes me at times because it can identify songs with so much ambient noise and even at lower levels of volume. It is pretty fast too. I remember when I first got it and most of my friends were using shazam at the time. I definitely had the best performing app, consistently reliable and quick compared to the others. Best one I've used.
You guys can't be serious with not having an option to turn this always listening bs off right? I don't want you listening to my microphone whenever because I maybe might accidentally say "Hey Soundhound" at some point. I didn't even realize you were doing it until I noticed the info about it in settings. It's super sketchy. I don't think I've ever expected a refund for something I've used so much, but this is absolutely not what I paid for. This needs to be sorted out.
Seems like they've removed a lot of features like the top 40 songs by country / world etc.. I used to use it as a radio on trips. Also, there is a connect to spotify ad that always shows even tho I'm already connected to Spotify. The song detection is quite poor recently and slow. Shazam is much better at this. App has gone way down hill in my opinion, and I've pretty much switched to Shazam at this point... free Shazam is now better than the Soundhound app I paid for :(
Latest update is poor. Like others have said, latest updates are awful. I had to "sail the 7 seas" to downgrade to 8. The good, the button is lower down and easier to press. The bad: Share Links have been changed to some awful tracker link that shows you nothing except "download the app" (was Soundhound's page previously) I can't send searches to Deezer anymore, spotify integration only works if you create a Soundhound account, lame. General usability has taken a serious nosedive and it breaks.
I remember getting this back in the day because I liked the interface better than Shazam's. Even though Shazam gets all the credit. For me it got way too cluttered with all the bells & whistles. I tend to dislike clutter in an app. I don't want a digital swiss army knife. It takes the focus away from the core function. But even though this app has grown some "love handles" it's still the better between the two IMO. Thanks dev/devs.
I don't know what they did but the new version of the app has caused the ID function to drop off the deep end significantly. Previously it would be able to ID songs in crowded, noisy places with the song playing somewhat quietly, but now it won't even ID songs in quiet places with the song playing at a decent volume. Functionally useless now.
Excellent Music ID App. Preface to say I do not need the premium app at all. I only bought it to support the devs for an amazing music app that has rarely let me down. Today it successfully ID'd a gaming type instrumental I did not expect it to, and another song I'd been trying to ID for years, which I'm sure I tried on soundhound before with no luck. So it's only improved with time. UI for paid app seems worse than free app - for instance, anytime I hit back it closes app. Would donate more.
This app is the best around for identifying music, but the widget has been broken for a while. It goes to the identifying screen for a second, then just goes to the home screen. Another issue came with a recent update, it seems there is no longer a way to search discoveries. There is a search function, but I can't find a way to search only songs I've identified.
Soundhound used to work well but it seems the last update has caused it to not find any music that I want it to identify. Even music it had identified previously. I suppose I've wasted the money when I purchased it a while back when it worked. In the current configuration I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. Gonna check out some others now. Shazam?
Used to love this app. Now when I use it it often says to turn the sound up because it can't hear it and or it says it doesn't recgnize it. Also when it "recognizes" a song and shows it you can't get the pop up of the song to go away which makes it so you have to completely uninstall the app then reinstall it everytime you want to use it for another song find. I did not pay for a malfunctioning program.
I really don't know what to say. By the time it gets done "polishing the records and dusting off the shelves," my sound clip pl is usually gone. It used to start searching almost instantly, but now the program seems to take forever to load even with the widget. The ability to find obscure and rare song says turned lackluster. Even songs that used to identify or no longer recognized. What happened?
