An absolute joke of an app, for some mysterious reason it works especially badly when one is close to the station turnstiles. Rest assured that as soon as you need to pass the barrier, either it does not load the tickets, or it asks the user to login again (and life is too short to learn the swr password by heart). Even if you save your card details, it asks to enter the card number for every purchase - obviously this happens when one is rushing to the station. One star is way too generous.
App is useful and has all necessary functions. Unfortunately, at least on my phone, you can't search for connections or buy ticket using mobile data, only via WiFi. Also, when searching something and then closing the app, after reopening the saved Railcards and everything else are gone so you have to re-enter all the information which is annoying.
When the App works it's great. However, it frequently will not show purchased tickets which makes it both very difficult to navigate ticket barriers and have discussions with barrier staff and train guards as to why you apparently don't have a valid ticket. I have resorted to taking screen shots when the App has the tickets accessible. This poor functionality should not be hard to fix.
I have now started purchasing tickets on the app as you get e tickets straight away. The most annoying thing I find is that it seems to throw up advance tickets (no changes, non refundable) every time. I never use advance tickets as I like to keep my options open
This app. is good when it works, but I frequently cannot find tickets I have purchased on the web (does it only show and store tickets purchased through the app?). And even more annoying, it only works in the UK, I cannot sign in to the app. from abroad.
Messy, bad user journey, lots of bugs and trying to book tickets through the app just throws up 'technical error' messages. The quality of the app is fairly indicative of the overall quality of SWR.
App has deteriorated. Started off randomly signing me out, then struggling to show tickets I've purchased. Now, it won't show purchased tickets at all. Useless, and I have reverted to storing PDFs on my phone instead.
Tickets I have purchased are no longer showing in the app, they just won't load. As a result I can't show the tickets I have paid for to the inspectors or at the barriers and I have been accused of trying to dodge fares! SORT THIS OUT NOW!
Terrible. Hasn't worked on 4 phones (OnePlus, Note 8, S10 and an S22) in over a month. All you ever get is "Technical Error. Error Code". Website sends my tickets to the app which I then can't use to show them because it doesn't work. Can't screenshot multiple tickets purchased to give to family as their own. Disaster.
My only reservation is that I cannot view my Railcard (two together) in the app as I purchased it on the Trainline app. This may be a misunderstanding on my part to be fair!
Can't buy tickets as I get an error message saying "Technical Error. Technical Error. Error M0" as I try to execute a search. Seems this is not a new issue reading other reviews.
Awful app. If i want to check my Tap2Go smartcard it opens another webpage that needs a password. Then I shows a list of 3 cards Why they can't just use bank cards like TFL and just about everyone else they can't answer
The app was brilliant at the start of January. Now you can't buy tickets on it as it says technical error all the time. I have to use browser to buy the tickets and it gets updated in app which is a hassle. Seriously swr should do something about the app. Learn something from trainline for user friendly features
WHY do I have to make and account AND install an app, to make a one off train journey. Seems excessive, long winded and invasive.
this is a good app. the one thing i want is the ability to save routes, click on it and see the next train times
This is poor for commuters. It randomly signs you out of the App, usually when you are rushing to make a train. It should act as an accessible wallet with fingerprint access or similar rather than this random setup.
app is good and really handy although sometimes it glitches and I need to refresh more tjan once if I want to open my e-tickets which can be frustrating when in a hurry
I've been using this app for few years and found it very useful but since January this year 2022 I can't buy tickets due to 'technical error' so only use it to check for train times. When are you going to sort it???????? Disappointed 😞
Don't work, qpp crashes every time at payment prior to inputting card details. Useless.
Mobile tickets never appear. Buying tickets for collection at machine often times out if it ever works at all. I want to use this app because it'll save me time at the station and easier whilst on the go. Collecting nectar points was also a bonus but anymore. Disappointing. Dec 2021 - App has been non functional now for over 2 weeks. Useless. Have to use mobile site to purchase tickets on the go.
The app doesn't inform you about the platform on which trains are leaving and as of recent won't load my in-app bought tickets.
Clunky app, logs you out, you can't buy tickets, always shows technical error message. You just need a simple app to buy your ticket and check train trains quickly
Not bad. Easy to navigate and use, but a shame that it sends you to the website for some information, where you get a banner telling you to try the app. 'My Tickets' takes far too long to load, up to a minute, which is very tedious if you are picking up tickets or standing at the ticket barrier. Update November 2019: This app crashes systematically when trying to complete the purchase, so is useless. Please fix it! Another update:Now fixed, it seems to handle payments differently and works again
It is better than before, but I think there is room for improvement in terms of practicality. I also find that the timetable sign system in Waterloo is disconnected from physical platforms. There is no reference point for train stations, alphabetical, destination etc. For instance a train to Sttrawberry Hill can depart from platform 4 or 21. Thanks
SWR is a simple game where you are asked a sequence of multiple choice questions and have to guess which combinations of answers unlock an actual ticket purchase. Amazingly, even after many hours of playing, I still lose more often than I win. Free to play, but contains in app purchases, though unusually for this game genre you can only buy after you win. Probably enjoyable for the masochist, but for most people I'd recommend Ticket Office instead (though that is not available on Android).
Worst UK rail app? Quite possibly! On two occasions I've been sold tickets via the app which could have been purchased at a lower price on the station. SWR refund process is then lengthy. This app often doesn't even let you make a purchase for various technical reasons. There are plenty of better apps for checking rail times, so I'd recommend using those instead.
I've just fallen foul of an utterly ridiculous regression in the latest version. It used to be that when you tapped a ticket in the"My Tickets" view, the e-ticket was displayed on the screen so you could scan it at the gate. Now, a different screen is displayed and you have to press a button to get the ticket shown. Can we please have the previous functionality back, or have the option to switch off this pointless new "feature"?
