Excellent app for a construction electrician, or maintenance electrician who does rewiring jobs. Multiple options, first you have to learn how to calculate several wires of different sizes in one conduit, but after you do it is intuitive and just a great program
I don't know why the Southwire app calculates a different result than the Southwire website. Which one is right? Try, 60amp,copper, 3-phz, 60Hz,208v, conduit, 150ft run, min conductor and 3% allowable v-drop. Would be great otherwise.
Spot on, except I wish the app gave an option to select insulation classes of conductors. Instead, it defaults to 60c insulation which is strange being that 75c is a typical spec. Just know your ampacity ratings of conductors, and base your selection off of the voltage drop. Ie... size 3 in the app is rated for 85A(60c), but I'm running size 3 THHN(90c) which is good for 115A.
Very useful tool, especially when vetting out possible installs with customer during conversations. very fast, accurate information. Love it! - John (GF) EC Electric
Ok, would be nice if there was a Canadian code selection. NEC is not used in Canada
As handy as a shirt on a pocket
Some of the information takes up more than 1 line, instead of making the space bigger the app appears to cut of some information. Would like an option to expand the information
Okay, I guess. It would be better to see data presented in a table format. No default options for low voltages. And will not calculate wire sizes smaller than 14 AWG; an option to just type in the Cmil area would be nice.
Great App Bad Advice, I know you sell wire, but intentionally misinforming users about Table 310.15(B)(16) in the NEC isn't okay. Your not being conservative your intentionally misleading to sell larger wire. Fix and I will change my review, for voltage drop, ignoring wire size warnings, app works great.
Some of the ampacity tables are incorrect. 4/0 aluminum is listed as 205 amps at 75 degrees Celsius. In fact it is only good for 180 amps at that temperature.
Precise, would like for you to add the temperature rating as well 60c, 75c, and 90c. In which in our case is very very important in the field.
Easy to use.
Awesome, quick tool to use. Helps make the correct Calculations. Saves time and Money.
Useful app, but could be better. For DC applications, wire size should include AWG and SAE wire sizes, as well as 16 and 18AWG.
Doesn't support wires thinner than AWG14, so it's useless for anything involving cat5/cat6 network cable.
Matches what the electrical supplier recommended. Very satisfied with options and results.
Easy to use...plus I can switch to commercial ratings where applicable.
Fantastic App. Better than carrying conductor table in your pocket.
Damn thing is hard to make work, won't calculate 90 percent of time. Uninstalled it. Has to be something better
Would be more helpful if it could look up ampacities of medium voltage conductors.
Great tool. Very simple and intuitive
this is an excellent little app for those quick calculations thanks!
Calc. Were correct works great when I use it.
great tool to have for quick on site calcs.
Easy to use and precise
Great help in finding the max current you can expect on different lengths
Easy to work with. straight forward. got my answers in under a minute.
Does the job and free
could be much better. doesn't even give you calculated values
Good tool. Would like min conductor Calc to allow CU or AL wire. SHOULD clarify that run distance is one way vs. over and back.
