Sowing Calendar - Gardening

Great tool for my novice gardener's toolkit. I haven't come close to full utilization but so far I love it. Suggestions. Weather. Moon calendar. Choices! I like that. Sync, share data, photos, calendar, planting diary... It's as indepth as you want to make it. Ads, at least so far (after the first week), are not intrusive. But, if there is a way to turn them off via purchase option, I probably will.

I've tried a lot of gardening apps and diaries, and settled on Sowing Calendar. - It's simple to use but does 95% of what i want to do - It supports non-US users pretty well - It's focused on vegetables, but the catalog is small - The font choice is crazy! - If you are planting something, it needs to have dome values (eg days to mature) but those aren't mandatory when entering the plant into the catalog It's not perfect, but it is a lot more liveable than other apps, and it's useful 😊

No hardiness zone setting is a deal breaker. You can only specify it in three zone-range, which is useless. Also no actual sowing calendar, even though it's called sowing calendar. You can only add veggies once you already started seeds, but it's useless if you want to organize seed starting process

Initially impressed with this, however there just isn't enough plants in the database so I upgraded. If you add things to sow now , it doesn't like it and says its the wrong time, so successional sowing doesnt work it's a very basic database with one size fits all approach. Yes you can add more plants but it requires alot of information inputting which is very time consuming. Harvest dates are out, sowed Chilli's in Jan, telling me the harvest has started in April to May!!!

Fricking impressedI was just looking for a little reminder when it's time to sow but site it has not only a large list have all the fruits and vegetables that you might want to put in your garden but it has every single fruit and vegetable broke down into very detailed information , companions, enemies vitamin breakdown like folic acid 15% iron 2% or whatnot and there's so many other things but it won't let me fit anymore on here whether it's easy or hard to care

The app tells you when things should be planted in your area, which is good for a newbie like me. It also sends much needed "Did you know" information which gives tips on plant health and disease control. What I don't like is that when I see this information in my phone notifications, and click to view it in full, it doesn't show within the app. I just get a glimpse usually an incomplete sentence of something that interests me but the app itself doesn't show it. Much like click bait

A most interesting & useful app, inasmuch as I was able to discover best times to sow & harvest, much about soil types, depths, spacings, etc, & most usefully, both companion & enemy plants, BUT the one thing I wasn't able to do was to "plant/sow" any of the veg into a "bed", "pot", or anywhere else, where I'd be able to watch each veg's progress. Maybe I misread what the app was actually capable of doing, but as it doesn't do what I'd been wanting it to do for me, I'm uninstalling it! Sorry!

So far the idea of this app is exactly what I've been looking for. I don't need to know all about the plants etc. I basically need something that reminds me when I should be doing what. But the plant list needs to expand greatly. Because the drop down option is so nice. I love that I don't need to input all the info myself with that. Please add more plants. Also, I don't love the sow near me is "nationwide"as the option. Since we have widely varying zones in Canada. Overall good base.

This application is great for learning crops, pest control, making notes and setting reminders. There are a few crops missing, one I was hoping to find was Lemon Balm. There is an issue with reminders though, between July and August selecting any of these dates does not allow you to set a reminder and alerts you immediately after updating. Although this is still 5* for me. Edit; Remove my adverts for finding a major issue? 😉 Edit 2; What?! No way!! Thank you so much. ☺️

The app looks promising, but there are items missing. I just planted garlic but I can't add it, and I see others are frustrated by the lack of varieties too. I can see its going to be a useful tool, just not as useful as it could be. Update 29/10/2020 - I have 2.3.6, even uninstalled and reinstalled it but nothing was updated. I'll continue to use it, its definitely a good app, it just needs many more plant options.

Really like the app. Have a suggestion: Provide links to seed availability for each of the highlighted veggies, and get creative and expand the selection. So many delicious veggies out there. Don't forget non-GMO and heirloom varieties! I didn't see it, but is there a timer or reminder feature as times for planting and harvesting approach? Keep up the good work.

Improved - but you have to watch 30 seconds of advertising to get inspired from nearby users. flexibility as you can change information - but having UK as the same basis? there is probably 3-4 weeks difference between North an South in spring season etc.

I think it's one of the best I have come across. I don't have to worry my head about anything with regards to the crops A-Z have been spelled out there (so long as you know what you want, you get it easy from the App) Thank you for this App

Easy to use. Alot of veggies it tells me aren't suited to the time of year I'm planting them, but they are. Apart from that it's good

One upgrade that should be fairly simple for developers and would be extremely helpful to users is to have a sorting option (index) according to amount of sun needed for plants. While the app is generally informative, it's got a LOT of video ads. The usefulness also has its limitations with blunders like ALL of the (nutrient) deficiencies (listed in pests & diseases) having the EXACT SAME identifying picture (after you click through to each deficiency page).

I can see this app is going to take a lot of work initially to load up with data that is relivent to my particular climate (tropical). The regions you can choose from and information supplied is for a temperate climate, so not very relevant to me. Really irritating that you have to keep resetting the plant sort order default to user choice. Support by app developer is non existent and would be a good reason for you NOT to purchase this app.

Very limited list of plants, I paid for no ads and it's still requires me to watch ads...a bit annoyed at this point.

Pretty functional app. I think the design can be nicer but to each their own. The app has a large variety of plants but is easy to customize and add my own plants and notes. Would be great to have to option to see reminders in a calendar format.

I love that it is customisable and precise with adding your global coordinates! I checked the sowing /harvest tables and they're pretty spot on ~thanks for the great detailed section on crops and their requirements too. I would like to see a lot more variety, perhaps flowers as well, but as a start, it's great - Thankyou! 🤗

Very limited use! Spectrum of plants to add is very limited and too generic to accommodate different varieties. No option to change name (variety) or add unlisted plants and their growing specs. Fun, but limited in being useful. A "daily update" section with overview of plant status would be nice, plus addition of adding entries beyond the painfully limited selection. Community input could make this a great and useful app

Nice simple app presented in British English. Dates and guides are for the northern hemisphere, and obviously need adjusting to your locality, as everything does when it comes to gardening! I'm not in the UK, and still find it a handy source of information. Keep up the good work. Thanks

I love this app, best there is, but I can't change the date of the plants I sowed, before I installed this app. The problem with the date seems to be fixed, but now the pictures that I downloaded for every vegetable is gone. It took me hours to find the exact variety for each of the vegetables I planted. I paid for extra slots to enable me to do this. I don't want to spend time redoing it, just so it can auto delete . Can you please fix it and then I will give you a better rating.
