I used this app when I urgently need a roommate to help with the rent of a 2 bedroom apartment. I had no where to go and I just signed a lease I couldn't afford. I posted an add for a room for rent on January 30th and I found a great new roommate by February 3rd. I would have been completely screwed without this app. I got to screen people by viewing their profiles so u was able to find someone I was comfortable with in a very short amount of time. This app saved me big time.
Decent interface and features, lots of real people using the app, plenty of "free to contact" listings so I didn't feel too pressured to pay money... I deleted all the other apps I tried, they're terrible!
I haven't heard back from anyone but it's a nice place to advertise yourself and what you're looking for.
I think the app is nice and it definitely shows more relevant rooms ads than the larger companies. My only complaint and it's not the fault of the app developers is the then landlords. It's clear some are older or have trouble with the language but they make it difficult to communicate and I've lost out on some great properties because of the lack of proper communication. Maybe they can add pre-made responses so that miscommunication stops happening.
Love! Used it to find a room for myself years ago and now use it to find tenants for the spare bedrooms in my home! Wish it let me upload more pictures, but otherwise this app is wonderful for finding roommates. The fee for early bird contacts is a bit annoying but really there are so many other posts that you're left with plenty of options, so it doesn't matter much.
This is useless.Nobody posting the ad/rm responds to my messages. Just because you upgrade doesn't mean they can message you back or will. Many ads are exp or no longer avail; they should be removed.What is the point of paying a premium If you get no results. Some of the filters are glitchy. Especially the radius and map filter. Also there is no way to call/ exch numbers, yet most ads are asking to call them? I found a few places I like in my budget but can't contact them.
Working with the app, Spare Room USA has been a pleasant experience. The results for the areas in which I was searching were very much on target. There are still some answers to (my questions) be reviewed, and properties that I wasn't able to look at (yet?); but overall I expect to find my new home, and roommate(s), on this app (Spare Room USA).

It's pretty easy to navigate and filter for me and I've had a lot of luck getting responses to my ads. The website is a little wonky but my experience with the app has been pretty seamless. I can't remember the details now but I do think the ad set up process could be improved a bit, especially when trying to go back and edit.
The search feature needs help, or perhaps updating. There are no search results, At All, for any area code..! This app is an empty box 😂
I've come across a few scammers which is annoying but the other app I've been using too has scammers. Besides that tho this app is okay. Better deals for singles && small or no pets .
Literally every single contact I've had has been with scammers. 5/5 contacts have wasted my time and tried to scam me. You guys need to make ID verification mandatory or something because this has been ridiculous.
It's ok, but nothing special. App doesn't respond all the time and locks up when trying to pay for upgrade.
It's a good concept but it doesn't have many listings anywhere close to my area. even got curious and expanded my search wider. it may still be a good option in bigger cities. the app defaults to New York city which seems to be its target market.
I was new to SpareRoom. Very pleased with all the legit professional responses I received for my extra room. I did so many interviews & all of them were so amazing it made it hard to choose. Great to have too many options than not enough for a change. Paid for the premium subscription. So worth it all! I have the worst experiences with these kind of things usually. Nice to write a good review fir a change. Thanks Spareroom
This is the first time I have used an app to locate any place to live. I think it is very helpful to me and for me and I hope to get a rental quick by using this app .
If this was our 1st time using Spare Room and it was very easy to use and it helped us find the perfect Tennant.
EASY AND QUICK. I posted my ad and found a true good candidate to take my current roommates spot within 2-3 days, we met up and hashed it over on details and boom. Done. I didn't need to upgrade but I did have over a month to plan. If you need a place or person within a week or so definitely do but I was surprised that everyone was real. I haven't encountered any bots or spam. I was amazed at the simplicity yet detail it goes into as well. Good job app developers 👍
I needed a room in Denver urgently after being hired for a job from out of state. I downloaded a handful of similar apps, but SpareRoom USA was definitely the best of the bunch. After posting an ad and contacting a few renters I found appealing on a Monday morning, I had coordinated tours of multiple prospective rooms by that same afternoon. I'm grateful this resource was available. Layout and features were all I could ask for.
Easy to navigate. The people who offer rooms response is quick. The app also offer tips. Great find. I have three showings so far and they offer virtual tours for Covid protection. And there are no ads.
It worked pretty damn quick! Granted I'm from a very densely populated city, but i got a message from my new roomates litterally within two days of making an account. Its a great app to look into places in a given area and talk to potential roommates quickly. Highly recommend.
This app is not fully functional, even when paid for. Not at all tested. For example, asks but doesn't reflect current roommates' ages, states references are not required, and defaults to disallow short-term rentals. Question: Is it you're house or mine that it's renting? Your money or mine that paid for the add?!
I've used many services to advertise a spare room and this one has been the best one to use. The interface is easy. It's easy to list your space, and learn about and communicate with potential roommates. The leads were genuine and I was able to rent my room within a few days of posting. I'll go here first next time.
This app is infested with brokers/agents, and almost all require lease signings. Half of the listings require a premium payment and it's too costly. I have yet to find a place with this app.
