WIdget headlines are not updating on my Samsung Galaxy S8 after upgrade to Android 9. New articles are coming and I'm getting notified of unread articles but the widget doesn't change and my settings haven't changed. I LOVE how that widget put 10 news headlines on my home screen so I hope there's a solution. After all these years Sparse RSS is still the best RSS reader out there. I hope it's not going extinct.
Sparse twin: I used the original Sparse RSS because I wanted a simple, unobtrusive and bulletproof way to keep up with my rss feeds. After an android update the old Sparse didn't work and I am so glad I found this. I want nothing flashy or "interesting. " just a solid basic reader and this fits the bill. Thanks for creating it.
I really like your app!! Here are 2 things that I wish would happen: 1. "Favorite" a feed in reading mode(buttom bar). Currently I can only 🌟 a feed in "list" mode. 2. Add "start on boot" option. I don't wanna miss a feed with such decent app! Anyway, love it, would recommend to my friends :)
The bottom mark as read button doesn't work properly when a search is active .
Does the job. I wish I could rearrange the list of feeds from within the app.
add font size customize option and improve UI style.
Best minimalist reader out there.
It is simple and easy
Not liking the appearance of the latest update at all.
good, except it tries to load/save/import/export to a folder i can't get access to. which makes it unusable. would be nice if it used some generic folder like the downloads folder.
IMO, just one simple feature is missing. Could Sparse rss mod be made to use system proxy settings or proxy autoconfiguration scripts?
Once upon a time it had facility to download cache and read feed later but now I couldn't find it..
Simple to use and, for me, the speed and clarity of layout with the Readability option enabled is what makes this app by far the best RSS reader out there. An easy option to mark entries as "read" would make this the perfect RSS app. Congratulations to the developer for providing and supporting this application.
Still using Sparse as there's one thing that's missing. Could you add the "Mark as read" option when in an individual feed please? Other than that you've done a great job and appreciate the recent updates.
A list of feeds, a list of articles, all accessible with one hand. No stretching to reach slide-out menus. No bloat. Perfect!
A replacement for readability is needed since the shut down. 5 stars if there is a fix for Craigslist rss searches. Earlier versions of sparse rss worked, mod never did. Please fix Craigslist rss parsing.
Zero distractions, Zero rubbish great app, competently coded and conceived . Cheers dev!
An excellent basic reader that does nothing to distract from reading. Thanks!
Loving it. Simple, no-bullshit, just plain RSS reading with nothing in the way.
Best RSS reader I know. Love the OPML import/export.
since there is nothing left to take away. :)
Thank you for this app
Where can I get hold of the Open Source code for this app?
I downloaded this for the proxy support. It downloads feeds through the proxy, but when you view articles, it attempts to load images without going through the proxy.
No ads, no nagging, no cloud sync, no confusing UI nonsense, and no "press back again to exit". Just a capable feed reader. I have been looking for this for years.
I downloaded this reader yesterday,it's not near perfection yet,the only feature i really like is that i can use my browser's to read my feeds, this should not be changed!
I wish the app will use system font when I preview a feed item. Current font is too tiny on my tablet.
Sparse RSS was better than the alternatives and this beats Sparse RSS hands down. I love the combination of detailed settings and options, a lack of reliance on the cloud, and the simple and clean interface. If it supported folders or labels I'd give it five stars.
It's not there yet, missing some major and obvious features, but it really does come pretty close to being more usable than others. If it cached images when updating, opened images you tap on in an app, and long-press links brought up a menu, I would switch to it. Until then, I'll watch this space and hope.
