This app does not deserve it's lack luster rating. It has a feature rich verbal command set and the voice recognition is quite good. There is a learning curve, just like using any new technology. If the user is for a sight impaired individual, I suggest that a companion become familiar with the s/w before giving it to that individual. It can be frustrating when the app asks for a command and the user doesn't know what to do. With a little patience and help from an experienced friend, it can be valuable assistance to the visually impaired.
I like it. I was out on the highway and received several very complicated emails (in tiny print) and thought, now is the time to get an email reader. So, I pulled over, Googled email readers, and found this one. So, I downloaded it and drove off letting it read to me. The voice sounds computerish (as it should), but it worked well and was very clear. One suggestion: It would be great if it also read web pages. It would be helpful when I have a long article or kindle book on the road and it could read the article to me. Put that on your list of upcoming R&D. But even without that, Speaking Email is a nice product and I like it a lot.
Love the app! It is doing everything I need, and I've already purchased one month of the paid edition. It has just one subtle bug currently keeping me from rating it 5 stars. (I will change my review to 5 stars when it is fixed.) I will say the team answered me right back when I sent in the bug report and promise to work on it soon -- very responsive! The bug: There is this really nice feature that you can adjust the behaviors of the various actions (like archive) to do things like include a special label. The bug is that using andriod/gmail the adjustment only applies to when you hit the on-screen button and not the verbal command. I want to use this hands free, and that is currently a problem for me. Otherwise: great app that does just what it says!
My new Mazda CX-30 doesn't read out Emails, so I installed Speaking Email on my Samsung. The app’s intuitive, and works completely hands-free. Connecting my POP and Yahoo accounts were easy. Currently the app integrates only with Apple Car Play, but it should soon work within Android Audio. However, it stills works fine, connected via Bluetooth. The app’s extensive customization, and easy way to contact the developers are real pluses. It's competitively priced, and thoroughly recommendable!
At this point everything except read emails one by one is in paid subscription. Got me bored and feel exagerated. I cant even see a list of my emails anymore.. i'll check for an other app sorry, thank you.
If this worked with Android Auto I would probably upgrade to the Premium service. Voice is off putting and speaks quickly, would be better if spoke at normal speed without sounding too computerish. When listening to radio, constantly cutting out when checking email, would be improvement if check was done in background & then radio silenced when email actually received rather than constantly. Not sure if this is anything to do with listening to music through Android Auto and Bluetooth for email
Not useable in business - Settings for keep playing when phone locked don't work. Playing controls when locked don't work. When screen off it plays for one paragraph and turns off. Screen has to be ON for it to work. Doesn't support Android Auto for safe driving. Drain on phone battery. The voice commands recognition is sometimes inaccurate. App has potential but without those features/settings its useless as an email reader. Apparently developer knows about these but he hasn't fixed it.
Failed to send email code. Then failed to even start up.
Downloaded the app today. Tested at home and all worked fine and did what I needed it to. Tried to use it on Mobile data and it wouldn't load. Deleted all data and set up from scratch again. Despite changing the setting it wouldn't continue to read once the screen lock was put on. Decided to leave it and try it again at home and it will not even load again. Not prepared to delete all data every time I was to use it. Uninstalled again
I like all that this app can do BUT I have to uninstall because it's voice settings are interfering with my other voice/speech apps. The Speak Email "Reader" invades my online reader and takes turns with the Speak Email "Announcer" (slight difference in pitch and speed, causing pausing for the switch) making my article distracting and annoying.
This app has improved my ability to stay up to date with my team. I'm aware of everything going on the minute I walk in the office. Drive time is no longer wasted!!! I get that tech is always evolving. The app team has always reacted to any issues that have popped up. They have been very open to suggestions as well.
I have used Speaking Email for years since the early days and continue to be amazed at how responsive the crew is at listening to your suggestions and incorporating them into improvements, a touch lost by so many tech companies these days I'd give 10 stars if it was possible!
Doesn't read anything automatically so pretty worthless in your car. You have to open the app anytime you receive a new email and wait for it to connect and then it reads a bunch of emails that are already marked as read.
Unfortunately my work started considering the service as being unacceptable for managing emails. But before that, I got a ton of work done while in my car. Haven't had that much of a boost in productivity from any tool in a long time.
For a partially sighted person like myself this app is a godsend thank you
Good idea and could be very useful for business commuters. Unfortunately it keeps crashing on opening making it unusable (Samsung galaxy phone).
This app has great potential! Please improve, though. I will continue to use it with the expectation that voice commands etc will improve. Thanks for a great start! Keep up the good work.
Great for when driving. I did not get it to work with Android Auto, but that's probably not supported yet. That would make it a 5 for me and probably buy the premium.
Very bad very very very bad way too slow and in Maggie it doesn't start when I open the app I'm very very very disappointed it doesn't launch the talking email because you think that sounds a lot better can you please please please fix this moron
He refuses to speak Hungarian. He speaks English in two ways, the one that is more common, incomprehensible. Unusable. The "Shouter" reads it for free. Without a Lifetime License, I won't buy nothing! THANKS! I'm going to stick with "Shouter." I'm not interested in the trial period, I'm interested in the final flawless solution!
SKIPS security alerts major ISP's google and comcast as promotional email & important docs from stock brokers as promotional email. then it wants a MONTHLY FEE? did not even make voices. it can only read the header "if your having trouble click here" from a steam email & regarding password authenticators - skips as promotional email. U don't get it, Those were NOT promotional emails they R tagged as important @ the email boxes that rcvd them. Pay per month? think ur better then the ISP itself?
It harvested my private email address (other than gmail in the Gplay Store) and started sending me emails without my permission. Not cool!! Uninstalled immediately.
If there is zero Stars will give for this app. Tried to install several times.Only white screen shows after run app. Terrible.
I love this app.. saves so much of my time.. I wish the messaging app comes up with this facility (messages can be typed)...
Installed it to read s long attachment so I could continue working. It couldn't open the PDF. Waste of time
Thanks an happy new year to all of you and Thanks for dis great 👍😀app and what amazing app it's the real deal man I'm planning on updating on the rest of dis app 😊and Thanks again 😊and keep me posted on dis 😀great app and great job u all
App seems a great idea but when I installed it, logged in and pressed play latest, it didn't actually read me anything Update: text to speech worked fine on my new phone but I've decided to delete it. I'd hoped to be able to catch up on some of my emails while driving but the pauses are so long I can't see myself being able to follow the thread while focussing on something else. You have to purchase premium to be able to delete emails by voice and you have to keep repeating the voice commands.
