Speakly: The fastest way to learn a language

Better than duolingo but buggy as hell. After the intro I was ranked intermediate 3. Did some further lessons. Error occured in the middle of the lesson with only a "retry" button as option. Clicked the back button on the phone and ended up at beginner 1 level with all my "progress" lost. Not gonna work myself through that. Thanks. Speech recognition is not more impressive than other apps I know so you can "cheat" yourself through lessons with a terrible accent.

This is exactly what I wanted, was ready to buy the app for other languages, lifetime option, but there are still a few "bugs" in the app. Voice sometimes is not detected and continously I receive the message "sorry, something went wrong on our end... 🙊". Hope the app gets better, and in the future there's another discount to buy I will for sure.

Of mobile platforms this I like the best, it has a review of the newest words in addition to a full review (takes a long time) which iOs and web don't have. The audio seems to me very good, better than duolingo, sounds more real than AI, but I think it is AI. Placement tests seemed to place me too high. It seems to go at rather a fast pace, this maybe because I'm learning Estonian would like to be able to jump back a bit. Music choices are great feature, but not my taste. Nice design visually

The perfect language app in my experience, the spaced repetition system is beautiful and keanrs with you, and the apps interface is very pleasant to use, albeit confusing to someone just trying to get through the course rather than use all speakly has to offer. I should also note the excellent customer service, I had a problem with my subscription and they had it fixed in minutes, which I must applaud. Perfect if you just want to learn the language, no messing around, at an affordable price

This is THE best language app I've found. I've been using Speakly for 2 years now, and have made excellent progress with French. It incorporates grammar, vocabulary, and speaking (excellent voice recognition) into the daily study. Other modules provide interactive conversation practice, and listening exercises with transcription. All listening and conversation are native speakers. Most of the vocabulary does as well. This really is a COMPLETE language learning app.

I can't find anything on the app that is not a premium feature. I tried it out a while ago and wanted to try it again, but most of the time I see: "app is not responding" or "sorry, something went wrong on our end" etc., and when it does work everything is a premium feature. Also, it doesn't seem possible to try a different language, or even to see which languages Speakly offers. Not looking likely atm that I will purchase a subscription.

Switched from Duolingo to Speakly and I must say I'm quite satisfied with the amount of input I get through Speakly compared to any other app I've seen. Even when learning new words or phrases, it's almost always in the context of a sentence, and I get exposure to other words in that sentence through it. Also, as a front end developer myself, I can't help but remark on the beautiful user interface this app has to offer. It's far beyond what's offered in most other apps like it. I tip my hat. 🎩

Best app experience so far. However, as of late it appears their servers are too slow. Sometimes the app lags so much that I have to exit the app altogether. I have 1 gig speed on my side and other language apps do not lag. So, it's not my end. Too bad, love it when it works properly. But it seems to be getting worse, what a disappointment.

It gives you scenarios that you will use for actual conversations. With other apps (especially one in particular) I find myself getting bored easily and uninterested because I will never say "The viking loves to eat sugar" to a person... ever. You unlock new challenges, new music and new levels of difficulty with this app. You don't have to worry about forgetting because it will send out a reminder for your selected time. Well worth the time and well worth the price.

I've tried about 50 language learning apps, speakly has a spot in the top 3, along with Iingvist and Busuu. The listening exercise is like a magic, wish there would be even more, the audio quality is amazing. The music suggestion is brilliant as well. The live conversations could be combined together, I feel like I have to close an open the conversation too frequently. Anyways, they will conquer the language learning "market", it's only matter of time. Good luck Speakly. Congrats for the team

I have completed a 60 day streak. I have already completed all Finnish exercises in Duolingo but Speakly still has a lot to teach me. I spend about 30 minutes every day, I have covered way less than 30% of content. There are diverse exercises ranging from listening of long texts to speaking short phrases. The audio is narrated by real people. There used to be a bug which made loading cards slow, but this is now fixed. I wish it would revisit answered cards more often before I forget again.

If you can get premium get it. I have the free and still really enjoy it (just started it back up after recommending it to a friend) so you don't need premium but the extra features are really helpful with learning if you aren't good at learning a new language like me. I'm pretty bad at learning languages but still have learned a lot just from the free stuff

This is the only app that got me hooked up. I just want to open it everyday and learn something. I love the listening exercises and the situational dialogues, but I can't give it 5 stars because I really hate the robotic pronunciation in some languages like German which I'm learning right now. Sometimes it took a long time to load the next card. I also would like to be able to click on words and see their meanings in the listening exercises.

Hmm quite boring and simple for my taste. Also, I don't think paying for a subscription is worth it in comparison to what Duolingo has to offer for free. Nothing here really stands or is much different other than the UI. I think there's better free options. It's also very sluggish which makes concentration difficult. Not much to be had on this app in my opinion.

Probably the worst sign in experience of any app ever created. It will not accept my password. I created a new account with a seperate email and finally it let me in! Unfortunately, I don't find it great for learning. I picked beginner level and barely understand what is being asked of me,. things are disjointed and it spends more time loading a lesson than it does teaching or explaining.

I've been using this app for 2 weeks to learn French. It's great app, and amazing methods. But could add some features like the review session, can you add typing mode, not just reveal the answer. And please make the app stable, cause sometimes it force closed by itself. And the voice recognition is not the great.

Often takes a while to load lessons and phrases are often spoken so fast you can hardly catch the pronunciation. When you've used up the free trial it becomes unusable, the premium subscription prompts are buggy and block you, and your progress gets stuck. Though the phrases do seem more realistic than duolinguo.

I was pretty pleased with this app after some initial usage. However, I soon started to actively despise the experience of using it. I really wanted to learn a language, but Speakly made it really painful. The app is terribly sluggish. It often took about 20 seconds to load up the next phrase. This wasn't a one-time glitch - every day I used it, my learning session was mixed with lots of cursing. Decided to give up on this app to save my mental health.

Amazing for learning Estonian! I have used most language apps. This one is great, especially if you are trying to learn Estonian or Finnish. The case tables and grammar tips seem built for learning these languages and no other app or program offers this feature. If you are learning any of their languages go ahead and give this a try. If you are trying to learn finnish or Estonian, and you can only afford one premium app, make it this one.

I love this app and I've only had it for about 2 seconds. The language I wanted is not on the recommended, but I love how they get us to say the language we want so we can learn it. Also, is anyone not mentioning that the actually get to NOTIFY you!? Bro this is just amazing. I've tried Duolingo and Babbel, but this is the BEST OF THE BEST. Mark my words, Speakly. -Bonnie

I just payd for month subscription, but the app interface is still limited. Some time after I contacted developers, I got an issue solved and as a bonus received free one month subscription. Thanks.

This is the best language learning app. I use it with pimsleur and glossika. It is perfect for learning the most essential words the fastest. It's listening exercises are amazing. And it even includes a perfect guide on tenses. 20/10

Truly amazing. Visited Estonia after 20 days of app use, and suddenly the language is almost intelligible! I can speak, still poorly and probably in grammatically imperfect way, but oh my.. less than 5 hours of total time!!! They are truly amazing!

Great UX, love the variety of features. However, the server response time can be painfully slow. I'd rate it five stars if they improve it.

I think the app has good potential to help users learn conversational french. The only bad experience I've had is that it keeps glitching in between exercises and I have to back out and start over. I had to give my placement test atleast 4 times because of that. I also know some of the new vocab that is introduced and wish there was an option that says "i already know this." That way i can focus on only learning new vocab.

Add Swedish. Edit: I initially gave the app 4 stars, but it's so buggy it becomes almost useless. It stops between tasks, or it can't be accessed at all, then a new update keeps me logged out and their system to retrieve the password does not work... It's not a linguistic training, but a be-zen-breath-deeply sort of. It would be a great app, if they fixed things.

Unfinished, a bit frustrating. It does have its strong points, but I wish I hadn't gotten the lifetime package, I feel stuck with it. If my study language, Estonian, ever gets completed by them - full translations everywhere, speech recognition, a really stable app and server, improvements to Live Situations - then it could rise to 5 stars. I can't even select the text to look it up on Google Translate, which is really frustrating - wastes my time and they gain nothing from it.

I try to contact for help no good response, my virtual keyboard don't want to switch to Russia layout on Chrome Os 101.0.4951.19 . Duolingo, LingQ, Lingvist work perfectly . This is sad I very like the concept on this application . I can't use this application without my virtual keyboard. Next year forget me you lose a client .

I purchased lifetime subscription but it seems like I will need a new life to make it work. Your concept is good; the execution is not. Please I've updated the software and it keeps crashing. I want my money back or a working app. Please let me know how are you planning to fix this.

I was using it daily until the app and website stopped working completely on Sunday and now I can't use it to study and I've lost my streak. The issue is still not fixed even after two days... UPDATE I've managed to get the app to work but the website still does not load when I try to access it via web browsers. I've also contacted via email about restoring my streak.
