Speccy - Sinclair ZX Emulator

Excellent Spectrum emulator from an excellent Dev! I had an issue using my Bluetooth gamepad with a previous version of this app, but after contacting the dev they were quickly able to sort out a fix and now I can play my favourite Speccy game once more (Elite - or more accurately, Elite Legend, a modern day modded version which is possibly the best 8-bit version of the game). I have nothing but praise for the dev and this emulator is well worth the small asking price.

Have spent ages looking for a Speccy emulator for my new tablet. This one works great, so far no issues with emulation and works well with the Samsung keyboard cover. It is still supported too, unlike others. Would be great to have an option to hide the onscreen controls without having to press anything (they reappear sometimes). Also a keyboard shortcut to stop the tape would be awesome. Apologies if I've missed them! Overall a great app, was happy to pay for this one :-)

Best spectrum emulator I've tried. I didn't understand how the cursor keys worked on the 128 spectrum for menu control and basic editing so I thought there was a problem with the emulator. The Developer got back to me and gave me the info I needed on the same day! "Of course you can. Remember that in a real Spectrum, the cursor is controller by pressing CSHIFT+. Try pressing these arrows while holding CSHIFT. They will work. You can also configure them to "press" CSHIFT automatically, see "Settings | Emulation | Joystick Type | CSHIFT + CURSOR". Thank you Garage Research;)

Works well with Android 10 (some i tried prior to this just crashed). I am actually using it for some 80s style programming, working through the old INPUT magazines. The only extra thing for me as a niceity (and to save me retyping old listings) would be if I could open the .szx files from another emulator I had used, as it doesn't seem to show those in the folder list when browsing for files. over all though very impressed :) ** now works with szx files! ** thanks to the developer!

Works great. Now if only we could search the current directory instead of the whole storage. Or better yet, The option to pick the directory your games are stored in & scan the contents to a cache. Then searches would be instant. When you have a very large collection of games, endlessly scrolling right to find your game is a chore. A quick search would be so much easier. Im using the Nvidia shield tv. My games are in folders a-z with many games in each folder. It takes forever

there r now two full screen animations that use the sam coupe (when we get sam coupe keyboard instead of speccy+?) atom compact flash/sd memory as a hardrive would b really great if u could figure out how to support it please also for zx spectrum is girls aloud massive tap file made of screen$ and ay8912 sample

SUPERB! Extraordinary good fun. Nothing like holding a ZX Spectrum in ur hands, being able to play all the classics from the 80's. I can lose myself for hours. I love how u can change settings to old CRT style and even play b&w if you wish - nostalgia to extreme! I play on 10.5" tab, so touch screen controls very manageable. If ur reasonably competent accessing folders on ur device, its easy enough to place 'z80' or 'sna' game files in2 ur 'speccy' folder under settings/device main/storage.

I'm an emulator fanatic. On android this is THE best Spectrun emulator available So simple to use with ace compatability and competitively priced too The author should take great pride! Suggestions: 1: When the menu comes up, make it wrap round...ie when you are at the top of the menu, push up should wrap you round to the bottom, instead of you having to scroll all the way down... 2: Have a favourites folder AND the ability to click on a game in the list and add it to the favourites folder

One of the best Spectrum emulators I've used. Would love to see support for the Recreated ZX Spectrum keyboard (from Elite Systems) in a future update.

looks great and accurate emulation, i have a galaxy s5e with a bluetooth keyboard and have been trying to remove the on screen controls, im probably being thick but cant see it anywhere, my only other issue is that the built in link for word of spectrum isnt working for me. otherwise its great to see the old speccy games again. edit: many thanks for this

I've been playing Football Director 2 disk edition and loving it! But for whatever reason, I can no longer get it running after your latest update (25th April). Edit: Got it going but lost my save data. This is by far the best Speccy emulator out there, superb!

Sam. Coupe games .dsk as told. It shows the +3 screen and goes no further... Have set emulator to Sam mode.... It's easy to play spectrum games it must be me doing something stupid to not get Sam games to work. This is the world's best spectrum emulator ... It really is. It's worked on all of my phone's... And has been plenty fast enough to play any games. I paid for this it was so good. Can someone figure this out I'm on twitter @mrjulesdrop

Works great on S9+. Didn't bother with free app went straight for paid version because of world of spectrum integration. Reliving the memories of my old games. Have their paid coleco emulator as well - both great no issues.

Good emulator but the file selector toolbar only works for the free apps. Developer , I have purchased all your apps but the toolbar will tell you that you don't have the app and guide you to download the free version. UPDATE: now fixed, good developer, fixed problem within a week, cheers.

I downloaded Speccy so I could complete a game that I never finished as a child. I found and played Subsunk with no problem and nearly finished it. However, the game cannot be completed because a crucial item (emergency tape) is not where it should be (in the safe) rendering the majority of the puzzles pointless and meaning the game cannot be finished. If this could be rectified I'd give a 5 star review.

Fantastic emulator, brings back the old days!

Tried with 3 different Bluetooth joysticks, including microsoft xbox one. Movement does not register at all. Other keys do work. Tried on both kempston and cursor joysticks emilation. Please advice.

Rude developer. Calls me "special" because the BT keyboard (which I am using to type this & works in Spectaculator Perfectly) doesn't work in this app. The cursor keys don't *seem* to work on virtual kbd or physical (e.g. 128 menu) so need to use CAPS+5/6. The Bluetooth controller which works in other apps doesn't work in this one. The UI is okay, but a clumsy to flip between virtual js and kbd. Despite rude dev, emulator works well & is great for some stick-based games. Shame about the kbd

Brilliant emulator, have used it for ages now with barely a problem.

Was having lots of trouble with Spectacol and remembered I had purchased this some time back. Works great on Shield TV and got me playing Lords of Chaos again without too much pain. Never had a Speccy as I was an Amstrad kid but there's no love for that on Android. Just a pity I can't play Rebelstar 2 without a keyboard.

i was having trouble downloading the paid for version but it would apear one has to uninstall the free version first then it was okay. other than that the program appeaars to be fine and is great fun visiting old haunts thank you Adrian

Free version worked well. Paid version runs much too fast, so games unplayable. Allowing user to choose emulation speed would be welcome.

I downloaded this emulator and love playing all the games I remember playing as a kid a great emulator and definitely deserves 5 stars not played any other game on my phone since but can I ask if there is a problem with the game as I can't access the online games anymore only the few football management games I had started playing thank you

Great emulater. you need to mention that it does the Sam coupe as well. just working through some controller issues but looking forward to using this on my gpd xd plus
