Fun concept, but the latency between hitting the pad with the ring and the sound triggering is too long for this product to be used as intended. You can't keep a beat when the sound is lagging so far behind your motions. Until the latency issue is fixed or this product gets IFTTT support so it can be used for non-drum functions, this product is worthless. If these issues get fixed, I'll gladly update my review.
I love the concept and was very excited to use this. When it works it works well, but it doesn't always work. I'll skip connection problems and focus on the software itself. Designed wonderfully. I download sounds, it hangs. I do anything, it hangs. Finally get it work. Close the app, come back later, and I have to download all the sounds again!? This is frustrating and means I have to open and download and wait to hangs to pass everytime I want to use this? It's a bit much. I just want to play.
What a bad app. I can't even get past the login email screen. It closed automatically, why wouldn't this be fixed? *Edit* TY for replying but I have already taken the device back, I don't think it's your issue as the app is a number of years old & honestly you put out great products & I was looking forward to trying this but it is what it is.
Complete garbage. Great concept, but doesn't seem ready for prime time. The rings can't hold a connection for more than 10 seconds and that's being generous. While one finally gets connected, it disconnects while trying to connect the second ring. Even when you connect 1 ring, it disconnects as soon as you hit "done".
Got a set of these for my son's birthday. It was the only thing he wanted. Neither ring will successfully connect to my device and the app crashes during the updating screen. Highly disappointed. I have one other Android device to try. I do not own any iOS devices. Get this to work before people waste their money this holiday season. Don't bring an app to market if it doesn't work on a bulk of devices.
As a owner of 5 Sphero Products, gifted extra 4 to others ($$$) I preordered this in a flash. I first doubted my Huawei P20 Pro. after trying other mobiles (Including pixel) this turned out to be the most annoying piece of technology I bought in a long time. The latency is out of the 80s and SCSI plugs. The rings take forever to load (when they do). The sound library is great. You should have never released it in this conditions.is going to take more than an update to win back the trust on sphero
After seeing rings demo we decide to buy a set...terrible idea. Have tried 4 different Android devices and the rings will not connect. Rings are charged, device software current and up to date. Still cannot connect. Do not own a iOS device and have no desire to own one and after 4 different devices it still failed to connect, I not impressed with this product. I'm just glad we tested it before giving this to our daughter for her birthday. Interesting idea...but no.
It's pretty cool, but after a minute or two of playing some of the sounds would be cut off and glitchy with both the ring and the app when I pressed the color manually on my phone. It's made an otherwise fun experience pretty frustrating.
I just got a pair of specdrums and so far they barely like to connect to the app, or stay connected when I get connected. I see this app hasn't been updated since 2019. Does that mean they will always perform badly on newer phones? Is there new upgrades coming or should I return this product?
It is very laggy. striking a colored surface is not anything like the timing of hitting anything. shouldn't have the word drum in name. the ios app does work better however so maybe it can be fixed in updates or patches
Several different phones and this app would not connect to any of them. And no, I do not own an iOS device so I cannot check connectivity with that type of device. Can't believe how much money we spent on this thing. Definitely going to apply for a refund. This was such a waste of time.
So disappointing samples won't make the full sound. Latency is horrible ring just disconnects in the middle of trying to record anything. Hours of my life wasted. Cool concept but bluetooth has not come far enough to use as a viable music solution. Ill just stick to my maschine mk3
Even without connecting the specdrums and just using the app, there's a huge delay from touching to the sounds start playing. This renders the expensive product completely useless. You had one job ...
Buggy- crashes too often, even on different devices. Didn't even make it past the optional email screen to get to set up.
This app is super cool! I love the music you can make with it! But im recently i have been having a problem when i try to go into the library the app crashes
🤦🏾♀️Im a Samsung s10 user.... where's the update for android users. Im Not buying an iPhone and not buying a Google pixel. I purchased this product under the impression IT WOULD WORK properly with my phone and there is a DELAY. This is unacceptable. There is nothing on the box that states "there is a DELAY for android users with this app" I will give this product 5 stars when this MAJOR PROBLEM is fixed. And believe me this is MAJOR.
This current version is not like what was on the videos. Such limited features. There's not a way to access sound from instrument banks. When will you release full version and Specdrums Music?
As most of these reviews have stated, and I have confirmed, the latency, even on touchscreen, is awful. If you changed this one, simple thing, it'd be a 5 star review from me. Don't reply with your copy-paste reply, just tell me when you've fixed it. Edit: Yes I do consider that a copy-paste reply. Also ya'll haven't fixed it yet, and at this point don't plan to. Please get back to me when you've fixed it.
They sell a product and have updated the up since 2019m? It glitches, audio cuts out. I have the newest Samsung phone and this app is terrible.
Got my daughter the specdrum for Christmas. Paired with her Samsung tablet no problems and works great. Maybe the lag is an older version? She's having a blast with it.
This app needs bug fixes everytime i add a different sound it closes the app i am gonna buy a pack but i wont if these bugs dont get fixed. and i cant share my songs please fix this
App is glitchy, totally turned me & my son off the app after getting fed up with the LOUD/HARSH glitch at the end of most loops!!! The frequencies are so harsh it damaged our speaker!
Cant connect rings to Android phone. Edit, works well on the ipad, connected straight away but not on my S10.
The Android version is not updated with all the functions as the ios version. The Android version has a delay with renders the device frustrating. The delay makes it impossible to match the beats that you hear/play. I tried with multiple Android phones, including my Samsung Galaxy S8. I do not recommend if you are an Android user. On that note, the ios version on my son's old iPod touch works great. The ios version experiences no delay and has record song functions. And has Specdrums Music app.
