Specialized Ride

Getting bike rides together is hard. Specialized Ride makes it easy. Connecting with your cycling community can be tough when a ride’s info is spread out between social media, text messages, and forums. But with Specialized Ride, you can find and create group bicycle rides based on your location. No more barriers—just new rides, new friends, and an easier way to put it all together.

And when you can’t ride with others, Ride lets you connect your ANGi-equipped helmets and take advantage of automated safety features, like ride notifications and crash detection.

Use Specialized Ride to:

FIND RIDES
Find rides in your area by day, time, type, effort, or even distance.

CREATE RIDES
Building a ride community takes, well, a community. Ride lets you post your planned rides, so others can find them and join in on the fun.

MESSAGING RIDERS
Stay up to date on your ride notifications through the message board. Weather delays, route changes, and pre-ride gossip now have a home.

CONNECT WITH ANGi-EQUIPPED HELMETS
Mount a Specialized ANGi sensor to any new 2019 Specialized helmet and pair it with the app. Your emergency contacts will be sent an email or text alert from your phone and notified of your location if ANGi detects that you’ve been in a crash.

RECORD RIDES
Record, save, and view ride results in your profile, plus view maps, metrics, and your ANGi status. Your ride history is only visible to you, but you can link your Ride account to STRAVA®, so you’ll never miss a segment.

False sense of security as the device constantly disconnects from your phone and generally remains disconnected. You'll waste time on your ride trying to get it reconnected as there is no clear way to do so; you may get lucky and have it reconnect but it will disconnect again. From a safety perspective, it's like a seat belt that doesn't stay done up. Too bad, had high hopes! I have a Samsung S9.

Originally the app wouldn't let me sign in. The email and password were correct, but it kept telling me it couldn't find an account with that address and password combination. Not sure if I was too impatient for the system to recognize the account or what, but I reset the password and waited a bit longer the second time around and it was recognized. Used the app for the first time the next day and it worked quite well after it initially had to update the ANGi transmitter on my helmet.

This app provides a false sense of security until you finally realise it’s completely useless in its current state and stop using it for its intended purpose. It frequently drops connection between Angi sensor and app. You’ll need to stop every 5 minutes and check if app has sent ‘lost connection’ notification. When it has lost connection, you need to take off helmet and shake it. Pray it actually will work in an emergency... The email sent to emergency contact sometimes only shows ride start and not subsequent points. User interface is not intuitive - eg. ride timeout has to be set by pressing top right icon in record screen, where you at the bottom can change the default ride duration. Past rides seems to be only accessible in app, not on the webpage?!!
Using app version 3.3.1 on Android 9. Tested on 12 rides.

I'm having the same problem as other users. It says Firmware update is required. It "starts" the process, nevertheless the less it never ends; 6, 8, 10 hours and the progress bar shows always 0%. I've tried this with the phone plugged to a power supply & the sensor with a brand new battery... Using cellular data or wifi data. Both times same result. Any kind of support inwould appreciate it. Since my service year is running. Thanks.

I previously had a problem getting the activation code to sync with the app. I took the helmet back to the store and demonstrated the problem I was having. The store manager witnessed the problem, provided a replacement helmet, and watched me activate it in less than a minute. In summary, it wasn't a problem with the app. Everything has been working well ever since then.

Works well especially when I ride alone. Had a bug with my phone settings but support was quick to help get it fixed. Highly recommend this App.

Very unreliable sending in saving my ride (looks like it tries - the spinning thing goes, then says ride saved, but when I go to look at the ride, it is not there). Also, not sending 'ride finished' notifications to my contact. I have the latest version (and have uninstalled and reinstalled) and latest Android update. Have contacted tech support via email twice in last month, no answer (maybe no tech support department?)

it seems that this app doesn't work at all. phone wont stay conected for more than 10 seconds and when I try to restart the application it gets completely frozen. the codes are also a one time use as it seems, upon reinstalling the application the authentication code that came with my helmet no longer works. all this, the worst thing is that I don't trust the application to do it's one job and that's frustrating considering it cost extra for that reason.

Safety is everything. Helmet is a great advantage inn helping with that. App is easy to use and setup.

Can't even login as apparently 'I don't appear to have internet' despite writing this complaint on the internet. Deleted and reinstalled twice. Pointless paying for a saftey device that doesn't work. (1 star). Update: Using a combination of laptop and phone I did login. Not sure how, and I cannot repeat, but anyway that was fixed. Now the ANGI isn't discoverable by any bluetooth system. Update (22 April): to be fair to Specialized they have reached out to me via email to help. Fingers crossed it helps. (Star rating might change...)

Very hard. Doesn't match up to anything in the directions. Not one place does it ask me to pair my angi to the specialized ride app.

App lost ANGi multiple times during ride. Had to fight to get most of the ride "recovered" at completion. Still no update for Wahoo Elemnt compatibility for Android despite being promised one the end on February. I don't have a great deal of faith that the device will work and be connected if I do end up crashing. The entire reason I purchased an ANGi device was piece of mind. The app is not providing that at all.

Paid good money for a device that connects to this app (angi) and the app is a buggy clunky frustrating mess. Dont try to record your ride or you will get stuck in a glitch as they try to get you to sign up to some other rubbish that wants your credit card for a free 30 day trial. Tried to add my bike (specialized como also worth a lot of money) and so far the app has failed to keep a record of it. 4 times so far. You would think Specialized would want to provide the best experience possible.
