Edit: After a year, I still love the IPhone version, but the Andriod version is just not as good😥. It keep autoplaying when pause it to go take a note or change the speed or settings, nomatter what I do, which is so frustrating! Creators, please get on this!!! Amazing app! Would give ten stars if I could. I don't have the pro version, but it's still life-changing for listening to my online textbooks. It cut my reading time in thirds, and now my classes are manageable. I would highly recommend!
The idea behind the app is pretty solid. I was looking for something like this for about six months and found this amazing app. But the app is the most buggy thing I've found till this date. It's downright horrible experience. The listening settings don't change at all, loading takes literally forever (i.e. libraries don't load at all) or the app crashes after waiting for a long time, the main feature - speed ramping doesn't work at all and the dark mode doesn't look good.
I know it's in Beta, if they do fix the bugs I will change my review, so the app does not work perfectly, the voices are the same as you get from other places, I sometimes use Google Assistant which just does sound better, the camera does not load, importing links sometimes works and sometimes does not, and I noticed that I used my Google Assistant to do a certain task, and they Speechify continued out of no where to resume it's playing. I really want this app to work, I hope you fix the bugs!! Would recommend for now checking out the Chrome Extension, that works just fine!
Its a Great app, but I've noticed some issues which can be resolved : 1- Sometimes it won't stop speaking at all even if you close the app in every possible way, it keeps speaking in the background, the only solution then is to restart your phone which is annoying sometimes. 2- Its not working when you copy large matter (300 sentence or more) it shows the time but it won't speak anything. 3- Control of headphones are not supported. You cannot pause, play etc with your headphones etc
Pretty good. It makes things easier to get through as someone with dyslexia. I can just enjoy listening. A few things I wish for, though. Once I chose a voice and a speed I wish the app would remember my choices. But, each time I import a new article via URL it goes back to the default settings which are hard to hear/understand. Also, I wish there was integration with the Chrome browser so I could just tap something I wanted read to me and have it automatically import and begin reading.
This app may turn out very usefull in the near future. But it requires a lot of bug fixes. Like for example, when I import a scanned documents and the code converts it from text to speech, there generally are changes I want to make in the text I imported. Hence, when I change the text the app is still reading out the unedited text. That needs to be fixed. But overall, this app is great but needs a lot of changes and improvements. Looking forward for a better version of this soon.
Not bad. The ad in the youtube says instant. But it's not that fast. If u import a 900 page book, the processing won't be fast, sometimes it doesn't complete. Overall it is good for daily use. The voice is damn good as said in the ads. In app ads don't come always. It works with a 200 to 500 page book. When u scan something handwritten, such as notes, they don't completely recognize the handwriting even though it is neat. It scans a page and process it really fast. Dwnlded e-book wrk grea👍
When converting a pdf book into text, the app groups words together and whitespace is removed unintentionally. This makes it unable to pronounce some of these words. Overall the user interface and the features of the app are very helpful. One should be able to input the digital time from where one wants to resume the reading ( instead of the slider option at present). 2ndly it would be nice to have a log of bouts of concentrated reading to analyse what works best for each individual.
This functionally literate BA college level Dyslexic loves this app! I can read, but I am a slow reader, who is going back to school for another certification and I work full-time. This is such a time-saver for me, as it often takes me 30 min to read a 10 page article. My time off is often limited, so the fact that I can transfer the articles into audio files is a huge help!
I use this on my iPad and it works amazingly, why is it so bad on Android? The biggest problem is that the voice and the highlighted text aren't synced, which makes it even harder to pay attention than just reading without the voice. I will continue to use this and report bugs cuz I hope it can reach the state it currently is on iOS.
I use this to scan my text books it helps with my learning disability. I would give it a five star if I can get help how to get a better red of my page. There are some sections it only reads the first three letters or word of a paragraph. Other than that hiccup, I love that I can change the speed and voice and it works to read my textbook. Someone out there is awesome!
I love this app on Apple but hardly works on Android. Crashes all the time, have to uninstall and reinstall every time it crashes (several times a day) in order for it to work again. Can't go beyond 350 words per minute without having to pay whereas on Apple devices it's free. Would be a lot better if the bugs were fixed.
This app is useful, but it still has some stuff to fix. I decided to sign up for the free trial, and the premium voices did not load for me. Tried reinstalling the app, but that didn't work. Besides, it does not seem to be able to import Pocket lists, even though it's offered as a feature. This app sounds very promising, hope you can get it to work 100%. It's good but can be better.
Ooooh my gosh, this needs a lot of work but it's already being promoted mindlessly in YouTube. Import does not support common eBook formats. You cannot select any TTS you download from other sources. Interface is too barebones. The only interesting feature is the automatic reading speed increase, but that is a paid feature. 50 bucks per year? Doesn't worth it for me guys, YET. I'm sticking with the app called @Voice. Great potential. Oh and I forgot that the notification bar is useless.
I downloaded this and started the free trial. I thought the product was ok, but not good enough to justify the extortionate price tag. I cancelled my free trial, however was charged anyway. I have repeatedly sent emails over the past 2 weeks to the Speechify team, and have been completely ignored every single time. I'm not going to let this go.
I rely on this app for classes with inaccessible PDFs. However, its reliability is often sporadic. I have had to clear its data on my phone several times in order for it to load properly. There's still a lot of bugs that need to be worked out. EDIT: I am increasingly upset with the lack of stability improvements. A lot of undue stress to the user could be solved if more work was put into making the app actually reliable. This is an accessibility aid. It simply cannot be so inconsistent.
Not a single mode of text-to-speech works for me yet! Have tried a few different methods and the app constantly freezes, crashes or reports unknown errors. It is a beta after all so I don't think this performance will represent the final product, it's just a shame I haven't had it work once at all. Frustrated.
The talking is "clunky" at best, it leaves a gap at the end of every sentence, and really struggles between pages, with page numbers, with parenthesis, etc. I love the concept, but am going to start looking around for a replacement as Speechify doesn't functionally do what it promises very well.
It's useless at this time for if you want to upload a pdf couldn't, like a book. It groups all the words together, even the titles in a tight space and the voice is unable to read it. It is also impossible to change where you want the voice to start reading. Nice ad but work on the app!
When it works, it's amazing! Unfortunately I've had to uninstall and reinstall several times now. If I'm using it, then take a break (whether for a day or just an hour), it stops loading things in my library, and the only way I've found to fix it, is by uninstalling and then reinstalling. Which is frustrating. If this issue were fixed, I would be giving this app 5 stars.
This is amazing, so amazing that I'm really sad that this app is too buggy. I was enjoying so much listening to a pdf when suddenly the voice slowed down automatically, then it just stopped working completely. If you fix this and maybe add a little more quality US voices, I'd pay anything for this. TTS apps for android are absolute trash and this could be a game changer.
Rather terrible. Friends have the iOS version and it is like they didn't even try for the android version. The reading pauses every line of text and the entire interface is different. Additionally the subscription doesn't translate from one app to the other. So if you buy it on Android it won't work on iOS. All around horrible.
Glitchy constantly "forgets" my books. Crashes a lot. Can't believe I pay $100+ a year for a system that isn't even half way functional. Love the idea but doesn't really help if it doesn't work. Will change my rating if you can upgrade your app. Put your money where your mouth is or change your rates to fit your application. Like seriously there are free applications online that do the same thing FOR FREE. Make it worth the money I've spent. On the verge of asking for a refund
This app has alot of bugs like where the files in you're library does want to load or the speed of the words moving compared to the speed it's being read or when you go out of the app and it continues to read but if you go back in it does not show the text. Over all, its a good app and I see what you are going for here and i hope that in the full release all of these bugs will be fixed
+: multiple languages -:Can't report issues. Can't access other apps. Details: I fill out the report templet then when I hit send it asks how to send it. I tried gmail. It created an email based on what was there but, I hit send, from the email, and it takes me back to the templet and the first send option. no evidence it sent.I was hoping to use it with my textbooks. But they are in another app. Copy and paste isn't option &would be tedious with my particular set up. Love idea needs work
A strange app. I was expecting another wrapper / launcher for the Google Text to Speech engine. And it is not. It really can use the Google engine and make it faster and yet clear. From my experience this is unique. On the other hand, the price asked per week is large even for lifetime. And the download is huge, most games aren't as large as this app.
